Book Spotlight~ Sean Michael's Bruised

Bruised_SeanMichael_BlogTour_600x315_final

Inspiration

Inspiration can come from anywhere, you just need to be open to it. I’ve had stories come from overheard snippets of conversation, the wording of submission calls, visits to sex toy sites (for research, I swear – my story, sticking to it), people I see on the street. Seriously, the characters and their stories can come from anywhere.

And I do love to people watch. Whether on the bus, in a store or restaurant, walking down the street. There’s inspiration around every corner and I keep my eyes and ears open for it. You never know when something is going to spark a character (or when that character is going to spark a series!)

For Bruised in particular, the inspiration came from this man I saw. Just a glimpse, that’s all that was needed. But I saw him and thought to myself, man that skin would bruise beautifully. And so Billy was born. Sometimes something like that needs to percolate, but this time around, Billy showed up in my brain pretty much immediately and it didn’t take long for Johnson to arrive in my head to claim Billy as his own.

As to where the inspiration for Johnson comes from, that I can’t remember. I imagine that once Billy showed, up, Johnson was percolated from a variety of sources that I wasn’t conscious of.

Here’s what Johnson thinks when he gets his first good look at Billy.

Excerpt:
“Thank you, sir.” Billy headed in, which gave him a nice look at a tight little ass in tight little jeans. “I love going to trial, love the work, but the new guy bullshit, here call this guy, here file this deposition, here suck this ass thing? Gets old. Gets real old.”
“Funny, I never minded sucking ass.” Johnson winked and pointed out a table near the bar that was empty. It was busy enough that it boded well for the food even without Billy’s recommendation.
Billy started chuckling, cheeks pinking, sunglasses coming off. “Good to know. I don’t mind—if the ass in question isn’t an ancient, dried up skinny straight guy’s. Those? So ruin a good tongue.”
Johnson laughed, thinking that little splash of color looked good on Billy. “That definitely sounds nasty.”
The cowboy took off his hat, baring a head with hair cut so short it looked clear. The denim jacket was shrugged off, too, exposing a tight little body, pecs and abs clear and defined under the shirt. “No shit, Mr Bird. It is a scary situation.”
“I’ll bet. How long does the yucky ass sucking last before you’re not the new guy anymore?” Johnson figured Billy was definitely his type. Sitting, Billy spread his legs wide. Just look at that package… Most definitely his type. Johnson was glad he’d waited a moment to sit—he’d have hated to miss this view. He took one last look and sat across from Billy.
Those blue eyes shone at him, twinkling.

Blurb for Bruised:

Johnson and Billy come from different parts of the country, different backgrounds and different places in their lives. Maybe different is exactly what they both need.

Johnson figures it’s got to be a sign when cowboy Billy shows up at his garage after hours, just as he’s about to go find someone to spend the night with. He’s horny enough that a lot of guys would look good, but Billy seems special somehow.

Billy thinks Johnson’s the hottest ticket he’s seen since he moved to California from Texas, and after a good meal and some good fun, he takes Johnson home. They both find out they’re getting more than they bargained for. Can Johnson and Billy figure out why they feel so connected and can they make it last once reality sets back in?

Publisher's Note: This book was previously released by another publisher. It has been revised and re-edited for release with Totally Bound Publishing.

Welcome back author Sean MIchael

The Merry Month of May

Thanks, Dawn, for hosting me at the Reading Nook this month.

In keeping with all “m”s I’m going to share my first book published directly by All Romance Ebooks – The Millionaire’s Mistake.

I was asked to participate in ARE’s Bad Boys series, which were all featured this past month. I jumped at the chance. I mean, bad boys, right?

My pair are former lovers and it ended badly. AW, bad boy millionaire, who is really a spoiled brat, and even more so five years ago, dumped Reid because Reid had the audacity to say no to something AW had asked him to do. Yeah, AW was that spoiled!

Of course, Now AW is older and not quite as spoiled and most definitely alone. Oh, he can pick up twinks for one night stands any time he wants. Problems is, he doesn’t really want that anymore. He wants someone he can love, be partners with. It’s just too bad he threw away the guy he had that with!

This one was a lot of fun to write, and because they were former lovers, I was able to jump right in with the kink. And you know me, I kind of like my kink.

Is it too late to win back the heart of the man he loves?
When Reid Allen said no to spoiled millionaire Ambrose Walter Simpson five years ago, AW kicked him out on his ass. Now AW is ready to admit he’s thrown away the only man he ever truly loved.

The rich bad boy has learned the value of sticking around when the going gets tough. But is it too late to make amends and win Reid back?

You can pick it up at All Romance Ebooks, where it’s currently #1 on their bestseller list!

Excerpt:

“Two cappuccinos, an Americano, and two drips, Reid!”

“You got it, honey.” Reid pulled coffee, humming under his breath as they worked through the morning rush. There’d be another one at lunch and a tiny one around four. It was perfect.
“Reid, I’m going to grab the cranberry muffins. We’re down to only blueberry and one lemon.” Barb, his other employee rushed by from where she’d been bussing tables.
“Run a load of cups, huh?” He needed to pick up more; they were starting to run low. It never failed to amaze him how he had to buy another couple dozen every few months, like clockwork.

David nodded from the register. “Cups good. Muffins good. Customers like wild, slavering beasts.”
“Are you allowed to say that where we can hear?” asked the next customer, the man’s voice like liquid fucking velvet.
“Oh, yeah. You guys are sharks. What can I get you, man?” The grin in David’s voice was audible.

Reid didn’t look, even though his cock jerked at the husky tone—the customer’s, not David’s.
“I’ll have a double espresso.” God, that voice was beginning to settle in his balls.
“You got it. Muffin?”

Reid went still, halfway through pulling the Americano. He knew that voice. He did.
“No, I want something…sweeter.” The customer was looking at Reid; he could feel it. Especially now that he knew who it was.
“There’s muffins and raspberry scones. Those are your options, Walt.” He didn’t meet his ex’s eyes. Fucker.
“So you do remember me.” That husky voice went even deeper over the words. “And I’ll have the raspberry scone.”

Reid plated up the scone, pulled the espressos, put them on the counter. “Double espresso, scone.”
“Thank you. Will you join me?”
“Will I what?” He did look that time, right into Walt’s eyes. The dark blue was as intense as ever and Walt didn’t flinch for a second.
“I said, ‘Will you join me?’”
“I’m working. Rush. Sorry.” No. No, he wouldn’t. He couldn’t.
“When the rush is over then. Excellent.” Walt walked away like it hadn’t been five fucking years.
Reid stood there staring. No. No. Working, then he’d go to the back. No way he was fucking talking to Mr. Playboy Everybody Loves Me.

Walt glanced back and gave him a smug little smile.

Christ.

They’d been together for three years, right after university. Three years of wild kinky sex and one night Walt had said “get out.”

One fight about time and work and the club and shit and Walt threw him out with his wallet, his backpack, and his laptop. Fuck him. The man had been painting the town red with some baby twink the next Friday night too. Asshole. Waltzing back in like he owned the place. God damn spoiled millionaire bastard.

Reid made the next order, reminding himself that he’d done fine. He had a life, a good life. He’d built a strong business. He had friends, lovers. A cat.

All the while he worked, he could feel Walt’s eyes on him. It was like a fucking touch. How could that still be possible after five fucking years?

The Shibari Auction House series by Sean Michael

I’ve really enjoyed writing the Shibari Auction House stories. I get to explore different kinks and different characters. And there always seems to be a new man wanting to auction himself off at Shibari.

The latest Shibari Auction House story will be out tomorrow at Changeling Press.

Sam follows up on the three men first introduced in Robin.

Robin and Sam want someone who can be Dom to both of them. Will Master Renard fit the bill?

You can find Shibari Auction House: Robin here: http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=2194

As I said, Sam follows up on the story, checking in with Sam, his lover Robin and the man who’s Dom enough for both of them – Master Renard.

When he and Robin put themselves up for auction, hoping to find a Master who could give them both what they needed, Sam knew it was a long shot. Now that they're with Master Renard, though, he's beginning to believe that the man is exactly what they were looking for.

Sam's getting the firm hand he's been desperately wanting and Robin is coming out of his shell, flourishing under Master Renard's attentions.

Are they destined to find pleasure and happiness all together, or is this magical week going to end in tears?

Look for it on Thursday at Changeling Press: http://www.changelingpress.com/product.php?&upt=book&ubid=2222

Everything Old is New Again

It’s always exciting to have an older, out of print book come out again with a new publisher. You get to brush it up a bit, get a new cover for it, and bring it to the attention of your newer readers who never had a chance to see it before.

I’ve just had The Dog Next Door rereleased by Resplendence Publishing.

Keifer’s a vet with a secret. Felix is his hunky next door neighbor. One weekend when they’re both out enjoying a beautiful Saturday morning, Felix asks Keifer out for dinner and ice cream. One thing leads to another and the two discover they’re very compatible, in and out of bed.

Keifer’s got that secret, though, and he’s not sure exactly how to tell Felix about it, and he’s more than a little worried about how Felix is going to take it. What happens when the truth comes out unexpectedly, and that truth has a tail?

**Publisher’s Note** This title has been previously released. The cover art and publisher have changed.

I also have The Wizard and The Thief being re-released next month:

Plum is as good a thief as any he's ever met, aided by the fact that he has a little magic to his light fingers. So when he's hired to steal a wizard's treasure, he doesn't think twice.

Corm is no regular wizard, though, and he finds Plum absolutely enchanting, deciding he must have the pretty thief at all costs. When secrets arise between them, Corm finds he might lose everything he's worked so hard to gain with Plum, and he has to summon more than just his magic to set it right.

Look for it at Amber Allure on April 6: http://www.amberquill.com/AmberAllure/bio_Michael.html

Thank you, Dawn, for letting me share the news about a couple of my older books coming back!

Welcome Sean Michael today

 Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends, for getting together and for traditions. In my latest novel from Torquere Press - A Family of His Own, a Mannies Incorporated Novel, coming out December 18 - Benji is a manny who is really just looking for a family to call his own, to take care of.

Nanny Benji just wants a family to care for. Could widower Will and his three little girls be exactly what Benji’s been looking for and more?

Excerpt:

In a perfect world, there would be no accidents, no need for nannies, an undo button. Will parked the SUV, jogged up the steps to the house. Late. In a perfect world, there'd be thirty more seconds in every minute.

He could hear voices from the front room. Thank god for Beverly.

"Hey, guys. Sorry. Traffic and I had a client call." He dropped his keys in the bowl by the door, unfastened his jacket, and hurried into the rom.

Beverly looked at him, shook her head. God, she looked like Dale. "You're always late, honey."

"Guilty."

A gorgeous guy stood up, hand held out. "Hi there. I'm Benji Rafter."

"Hey Benji. I'm Will. You've met my mother in law." He answered politely enough, but his internal monologue was going crazy. No. No men. He was going to kick Bev's butt.

"I have. And the kids. They're beautiful."

Bev gave him a look. "Benji had them down for a nap in about two minutes."

He looked back, trying so fucking hard not to just stamp his feet and beg her not to leave him here with them.

"Did you want me to step into the kitchen?" Benji asked after a few moments.

"No. No, I'm just... old and tired of things changing." He sat down, his back screaming at him. "Tell me about yourself. Why the fuck would anyone want to be a nanny?"

Benji's eyes went wide, but he sat and cleared his throat. "Because I love kids. And it's not just a line, I do."

"Have you always wanted to do this?"

"Will, pretend to be nice," Beverly murmured.

"No, that's all right, Beverly. If I'm taking care of his children, he needs to trust that I have their best interest at heart." Benji turned back to him. The man had the greenest eyes he'd ever seen. "I've always known I wanted to make kids' lives better. Eventually I realized the best way I could do that was to be a nanny."

"How long have you worked with kids?"

"For seven years, with two different families. The last one was twin boys." Benji smiled, the expression going right to his eyes. "Twins are special."

Will nodded. "They are." Special. Loud. Demanding.

"Your girls are beautiful." Benji grinned suddenly. "Have you invested in a shotgun already?"

Will started chuckling, at once tickled and horrified at the thought of his girls dating.

"Not that I'm advocating violence." Benji gave him a wink. Fuck, the man was charming.

"I am. No one's dating my girls."

Beverly snorted and Benji laughed softly.

"Fortunately you have many years to fight that, huh?" Bev looked at him. "You need the help, Will. You cannot raise these girls without some assistance and..."

"And you have a better offer." He winked at her, softening the words. Christ, she'd been with him for a year, as soon as Dale had been hit by the car. She'd been the first one to hold the twins, to see them. What the hell was he going to do?

"You can check my references, I come highly recommended and I've already met the girls -- they're darling. I'm between families right now, so I can start whenever you need me."

"I..." Fuck, his head hurt.

"Have you eaten today, Will?" Bev sounded so concerned and he glared at her. He didn't need mothering.

"I'm fine, Mom."

"You're a type one diabetic, Will. You have to eat."

"Bev!"

"She's right, Sir. You need to keep your sugars in line. Are any of the kids diabetic? Let me make you a snack. Call it part of the job interview." Benji stood, looking at him expectantly.

"I." Wait. Wait. He was the boss. He was the dad. He managed.

"He loves peanut butter and blackberry jam sandwiches."

"Mom!"

"Oh, those are my specialty." Smiling, Benji disappeared in the direction of the kitchen.

A Family of His Own will be out December 18 from Torquere Press.

I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Chatting with Sean Michael

Totally Covered by Sean Michael

Thank you, Dawn, for the opportunity to share my upcoming release here at your Reading Nook.

I have a new book in the Handcuffs and Lace series coming out from Resplendence Publishing on October 30th. This one is called Totally Covered and Mal and his Doms took over my brain until I had finished it.

Mal has been Burke and Darby’s sub for a lot of years. As an undercover cop, he needs the release his once a quarter visits give him. Burke and Darby get a lot of out of the visits, too. Both Doms, it’s important for them to share a sub now and then to keep them on an even keel.

All that changes, though, when Mal is shot on the job and needs to stay with Burke and Darby during his recovery. Can his Doms bring Mal out of the funk his last undercover stint has left him in? Or will the three of them finally go their separate ways?

Excerpt:

Burke was surprisingly nervous.
It wasn’t like they hadn’t been friends with Malcolm for over twelve years. It wasn’t like Malcolm hadn’t been to the house hundreds of times in those last twelve years. They’d shared wine, laughter, good food, wild sex. They’d loved on Malcolm, torn him inside out, and rebuilt him countless times. They were Malcolm’s ground. They broke him and put him back together, so that he could keep doing his job.
Being an undercover cop was stressful.
Malcolm didn’t have family or friends. He had Burke and Darby. And they liked it like that. It meant they could play hard without having to bring someone new into their relationship. Hell, Malcolm was their sub in all but a few practicalities: that he didn’t live with them was the biggest.
All that had changed when Malcolm had been shot two weeks ago. Their lover had been hurt on the job before, but never like this, never in a life-threatening manner. Malcolm had stayed with them many times in the past, but this time he was coming to recuperate from a physical hurt, not a mental or emotional one, and Burke found himself nervous.
Darby chuckled. “Babe. Relax. It’s Malcolm.”
“I know, but…”
“But you’re worried he’s going to find out you’re a closet baker?”
Burke threw the pillow he’d been moving from one couch to the other at Dar. “Ass.”
Dar plucked the pillow out of the air and turned to wriggle his butt in Burke’s direction. “I thought I saw you admiring it.”
He rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help laughing, relaxing. Dar knew him so well.
Warm, strong hands landed on his arms, Dar giving him a little shake and looking him in the eye. “Malcolm needs us, just like always. Would you have him turn to anyone else in his time of need?”
Burke’s “No!” was immediate and heartfelt. No, Malcolm was theirs.
Maybe that was the problem—he and Darby knew that, had known it for over a decade. Malcolm on the other hand… Well, their boy still believed he had a choice, still believed he wasn’t impossibly entwined with them. Burke didn’t know if Malcolm was ready to discover that he was indeed home when he was with his Doms.
The doorbell rang and Burke growled a little as he headed to let Malcolm in. “I still don’t understand why he didn’t let us pick him up from the hospital.”
“Because he’s still the most stubborn son-of-bitch you’ve ever met—he was shot in the chest and belly, not the head.”
Snorting, Burke flung open the door.
“Hey.” Mal stood there, bag in hand, white as milk and swaying. “I’m here.”
Thank God, they’d seen him every day in the hospital, so they knew that the heavy muscles had become lean, that the short, short black hair was shaggy now. This undercover assignment might have destroyed Mal, even if the bullets hadn’t hit him.
Burke kept his growls inside and bit back his complaints about Mal not letting them come pick him up. Instead, he stepped up and wrapped an arm around Mal’s waist, taking the man’s bag in his other hand. “Welcome home, boy.”

Look for it on October 30th from Resplendence Publishing!

Sealed With a Kink Series and Pony Play

As always, a big thank you to Dawn for letting me guest at the Reading Nook today :)

Close to a year ago, I came up with an idea for a fun new series exploring kinks with different characters. I wanted them to be hot and heavy on the kink each story delved into. I was so pleased when Resplendence agreed to publish my proposed Sealed With a Kink series, and I have to say, ever since getting the first cover, I’ve been even happier!

The latest cover is no different – I love it! It’s sexy, it’s hot, and it’s exactly what I asked for.

SWAK: Pony Play is coming out on Wednesday September 25 from Resplendence. It’ll be here: http://www.resplendencepublishing.com/637.html

Blurb:

Jack’s life is typical—typical barely-there boyfriend, typical shitty job, typical tiny apartment in the city. But when Jack is dropped off at Wellbrooke Pony Farm in the middle of nowhere, his life goes from typical to interesting in two seconds flat. A handsome groom named Daniel teaches Jack that it’s okay to want more, to be cared for, and that sometimes, a city boy just needs to be stabled.

Excerpt:

“Billy? Billy, what is this place?”
Billy and I have been together for a year, off and on, playing all sorts of games, but this…this is something new.
We’re standing at a farm—beautiful grounds, barns, a lovely home with a huge porch. I’m not sure why Billy brought me here, why we drove for four hours outside of the city to this bucolic place. I’m not a country mouse, not at all, and neither is Bill. Hell, to be honest, I thought Billy was going to break up with me today. I know he’s interested in someone else, and lately, I’m just not that into him.
But that’s not what happened. We’re at this…farm.
“I…I have a friend that told me about it. I thought… I think you’ll find what you need here, Jack.”
“What I need?” What the hell?
“We both know I haven’t been giving you what you need, not deep down necessary need.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. What the fuck is this place?”
“It’s your home for two weeks. Your vacation. Your fantasy.”
Two weeks? That’s my whole vacation from the office. I hadn’t asked for it off. I hadn’t talked to my manager.
“Everything’s been cleared at your work. I’ll go in and water your plants and stuff. You’re good to go.”
“I am not going to just… You can’t just leave me here!”
A huge hand lands on my shoulder, solid and hot. “Jack? I’ll be your groom for your stay with us.”
“Groom? What? I don’t understand…” I don’t understand any of this. I didn’t even pack a bag.
Billy turns to me. “I arranged this for you, Jack. Trust me, okay? If it doesn’t make you happy, I’ll eat my hat.”
“Trust you? You bring me out here and say, ‘See you in two weeks?’”
Billy starts walking away. Just walking to the car.
The hand on my shoulder turns me, and, whoa, this guy is a stud. Tall, muscled, wearing a pair of tight riding pants, a tight turtleneck, and a riding jacket in a variety of browns. His square jaw and blue eyes are mesmerizing.
“Forget him. These two weeks are about your journey.”
“I don’t have my phone charger, a toothbrush. I can’t just… I don’t know where I am!”
“You’re at the Wellbrooke Pony Farm, and I am Master Daniel, your groom.”
“Pony farm? Me? I’m a city kid. I don’t ride.”
Daniel smiles. “You really don’t know why you’re here, do you?” My arm is taken, put on Daniel’s, and he leads me toward the barns. “Do you know what a safeword is?”
“I… Yes? Yes, I… My ride is leaving.”
“He’s not taking you back, boy. You should stay and at least see what I can do for you.” Daniel’s voice is deep and husky, like the best kind of whiskey.
I don’t understand. I don’t understand any of this. I don’t understand why I keep walking.
“I’ll need your safeword before we go into the barns.”
“Marigold. Why? I don’t…I don’t know you. I can’t do this.”
“Marigold. Got it. And you don’t even know what you’re doing yet.” That voice is soothing, like Daniel is calming me.
My eyes aren’t focusing, my heart is pounding, and I’m fucking wigged the hell out.
Daniel turns me again so we’re facing each other, one hand cupping my cheek, the other stroking along my arm. “Take a breath.”
“I’m scared.”
“I’m here to take care of you, colt. To teach you and help you find your place.”
“M-m-my name is Jack.”
“Oh, you are nervous.” Daniel leans in and kisses me, his lips warm and soft as they cover mine.
I suck in a breath and realize he tastes sweet, minty. Good.
I’m kissing a stranger.
The kiss stops briefly as he takes a breath and breathes the air into my lungs. I can’t believe that I’m standing here, breathing this in. Doing this.
His tongue slips between my lips, sliding in to taste me. His huge hands move over me, stroking along my spine. That touch is hypnotic, and I find myself leaning into it.
“Such a good colt. So sweet.” The words vibrate on my lips, make me shiver a little.
He leans his forehead against mine, and it takes me a few moments to realize I’m breathing with him, following his lead without even thinking about it.
“Good colt. Good boy. I’m here to make this good, for you.”
I don’t even know what that means.
“I understand from your registration that you’ve never done this before.” Daniel has put my hand back on his arm and is leading me toward the barns again. We’re headed for one of the smaller
ones.
“I don’t know what this is.” Billy has just deserted me.
Daniel opens the door to the barn for me. “Pony play.”
Pony play.
There are no horses in the barn. It doesn’t even smell like a barn. I just shake my head, my eyes closing. Billy got into my computer. That’s the only answer. I’d been surfing and…it’s fascinating, erotic as fuck, but not real.
It can’t be real.

Thanks again for having me, Dawn!
