Book Spotlight- Bad for Her

USA Today bestselling author Christi Barth launches a sexy new series about three bad-boy brothers in Witness Protection who are about to learn that going good is harder than they thought…

Doctor Mollie Vickers loves the tight-knit community of her tiny Oregon town. But she’s not a fan of the limited dating options. Sleep with a guy who tried to copy off her in junior high? Pass. Mollie’s sex life is flatlining… until a deliciously handsome man she’s never seen before stops to help her fix a flat tire.

As an ex-mobster, Rafe Maguire’s no saint. But he’s trying to turn over a new leaf. Although he probably shouldn’t kiss the hot doctor on the side of the highway. Or suggest a no-strings fling with a woman he has no business pursuing. Rafe’s life is too complicated for love—his new WITSEC-provided identity doesn’t fit him at all and there’s a U.S. Marshal watching his every move. He can’t tell Mollie the truth… but their chemistry is scorching and being good doesn’t mean he can’t be a little bad.

Mollie can’t resist the guy who looks rough, talks tough, and is loyal to the bone. But it’s obvious Rafe is keeping secrets. When the truth comes out, Mollie must decide if she could ever love an ex-mobster… or if this bad boy has truly gone good.

Excerpt:
“Every time they’d been dumped in a new town, the Maguire brothers made a list of all the ways the new town sucked compared to Chicago. Rafe didn’t like much about this new placement. Probably. Hell, he’d only been in Bandon for forty-eight hours. It’d rained for forty-seven of those hours, here on the Oregon coast. Seemed like everyone always bitched about the constant rain, and Rafe was happy to jump on the bandwagon. Even though it just made puddles, which cleaned themselves up. As opposed to the annual or three epic Chicago blizzards that broke your back with two solid days of shoveling out.
Rafe stopped himself. That wasn’t the happy, perky mindset Marshal Evans preferred. The one he’d promised her—again—an hour ago when he’d picked up the final version of his brother’s new license. It’d pissed him off to have to meet Delaney halfway between her office up in Eugene and his town. But it kept their cover secure. And part of him felt sorry for the government hack who’d spelled Kellan’s new name wrong the first time around. Guess they changed ’em so often it was hard to keep track. Hadn’t stopped his youngest brother from being pissy about the slipup, though.
The good thing about the almost pointless drive was his sweet-as-fuck ride. The one he’d conned the government into buying for him by pointing out that it cost less than an actual new car. Rafe had a sweet spot for classic cars. If he truly had to hunker down and build a life here? He’d damn well do it with his dream car.
A 1970 Chevrolet Camaro. With T-tops. The same blue as Lake Michigan on an August day.
Rafe wasn’t even speeding. For once. It was too much fun to listen to the smooth rumble of the engine, feel the cool May wind rushing in the open windows, and not worry about anything waiting for him back in their new town. No worries about remembering his name or his brothers’ names. No worries about doing a job he’d only played with as a hobby for fifteen years. No worries about whether anyone from their old life was on their trail.
For right now, he’d enjoy another half hour of pure freedom. The only thing that could make this better would be a hot blonde in the bucket seat next to him.
Hang on.
Rafe slowed. Then he stomped on the brakes. Because a Jeep sat half off the shoulder with a dark-haired woman kicking the flat tire.
A curvy brunette would do just fine.
It’d be wrong to drive past. Ungentlemanly. If Marshal Evans were here, wouldn’t she tell him to do his civic god damned duty and help his fellow Oregonian?
Sure she would.
Parking right at the nose of her Jeep, he got out. Tried to appear non-menacing. Which was the complete opposite of how he’d approached pretty much every situation for half his life. Hell, even the women he’d dated had known what he did and gotten off on the idea of his dangerous life.
The marshal had given him some pointers on how to come off as normal. One thumb tucked into the waist of his jeans, so it didn’t look like his fist was braced for action. Other arm relaxed at his side. She’d said something about a loose walk, but Rafe only knew one way to walk. To be safe, he stopped almost immediately.
“Hey there. Do you need some help?”

Book Review- Fatal Identity by Marie Force

Another stand out story that will keep the reader entertained and guessing till the very end!

A Recommended Read!

My Rating for Fatal Identity is: 5 Stars

As Lt. Sam Holland gets closer to her one year wedding anniversary to Vice President Nick Cappuano, she is dreaming of the beaches of Bora Bora and lots of time with her husband with no demanding careers coming between them. But she never anticipates a perplexing case that will tear Washington D.C. apart when the truth comes to light.

Government worker Josh Hamilton begs Sam to take a look into a claim that he just might have been kidnapped as an infant and raised by the kidnappers in their family. The shocks keep coming as Sam finds out just who his parents are and just how much complicated it got. When one of Josh’s family members is murdered, Sam has to tie all the puzzle pieces together as she races against the clock to solve the case because whoever is trying to keep this secret is going to any lengths to keep the truth from coming out.

I absolutely adore this series. I picked up the first book in the Fatal series, Fatal Affair, to read while I was waiting for this author’s next Green Mountain series book to get here and was sucked into the story as well as falling in love with characters that just stole my heart. The story is a fast paced thrill ride from start to finish. Let me warn you though, there are scenes of intense passion between Sam and Nick that are graphic if not so hot, I swore my e-reader was going to blow up from all the sparks flying between these two. If you don’t like graphic yet tender sex scenes then I advise you to either skip over those scenes in the book or pass on this author’s book (which I hope you don’t). Ms. Force has a way o f capturing her characters emotions and letting them show their vulnerabilities while keeping them as real as possible, which is a hard feat to do perfectly in a story much less a series where the characters grow and expand. With each page I was drawn into the case and storyline, racing alongside Sam as she along with her team tries to figure out all the pieces of this complex and increasingly weird puzzle that surrounds Josh and his family.

For me in this series it all about the characters as well as the cases they have to solve. I love how this author delivers complex casers that leave the reader breathless with twists and turns that you don’t expect. For this new case I was perplexed alongside Sam and felt the author did a bang up job in capturing the secrets as they come to light of the Hamilton family. I love the main characters, Sam and Nick. They are completely perfect for one another and has such a passion for one another that it makes me blush sometimes at how connected they are to one another. That kind of love and romance just hit all my love buttons and I was melting as I read their sex scenes, hoping my e-reader won’t melt from all the heat these two can generate. FATAL IDENTITY is a rollicking good time full of twists that left me hanging on the edge of my seat, flipping pages to see what happens next.

What makes this series stand out is the core cast continues to grow and evolve with each book and that right there makes me invested in the series as a whole. Ms. Force is a dynamic writer that knows how to get her characters to open up, show their vulnerabilities and strengths in a way that will leave you eager for more. As I continue to explore this author’s backlist for more reads to explore, I find myself drawn to her work in a way that astounds me sometimes. Ms. Force is fast becoming one of the few authors I will pre-order books and am eager for more. Now all I can ask from this author is when her beloved readers can get another dose of Sam and Nick as well as their friends again. If you enjoy red hot romance, intriguing yet complex cases and a setting set in the heart of Washington DC then you will definitely want to check this series out because I guarantee you will fall in love with this series and binge read it like I did in a week.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement

Jack scanned the bookstore as he sat in the hard metal folding chair, at the small table, and wrote. He thought his hand would fall off. Whoever said writing wasn’t real work had to have been crazy. He knew things about two hours’ worth of people their mothers probably didn’t know. Mandy Lou something or other had a granny who thought he was grade A and she was his number one fan. She didn’t look old enough to be allowed to read his brand of horror, but she had two copies of each of his books.

Jack had politely—he hoped—shrugged off the forty invitations to dinner, fourteen offers for coffee, and two very indecent proposals for ‘wild, hanging from the chandelier sex’ to quote one lovely fan. All in all, a long day barely described it, but he’d seen people and observed, that was for sure. If it helped with the new book, it might have been worth it, and then again maybe not.

Ellie dropped by to see how things were going, and then promptly ran away when he tried to beg out. He didn’t like being maneuvered, and Ellie was a champion at it. Entertaining the notion of strangling her got him through the second hour, but considering he needed a good editor, he changed his mind.

The line grew shorter. While he juggled the newest Hastings baby on his knee, which the boy’s proud papa had insisted on, Jack inscribed a message in the front cover to Mrs. Hastings, another number one fan and the mother of six children all under ten. How does she have the time to read at all? His message to her read, “Mrs. Hastings, I’m your number one fan. You rule. Jack.” Mentally saluting her efforts, he passed back junior, and sent them on their way. He automatically reached for the book a slim hand offered. Eyes down on the cover of what he’d created, he said the same thing he’d told countless others. “Hi, who should I make this out to?”

“Just sign it to Olivia Corrigan, fellow mystery writer.”

Her voice alone lifted his eyes to meet hers, a musical lilt that teased of mist and bogs, faeries and leprechauns. She was dressed professionally, but he could easily imagine her calling up a wild wind or casting spells. She was only about 5’4” and slim, claimed black Irish coloring. He saw a flash of what might have been a premonition, but after blocking the gift so long he couldn’t hold on to it. Did he smell rain? Candles or lightning? But the sun was shining. For a moment he just stared, couldn’t speak , and was certain he knew her but couldn’t remember where from.

“Is something the matter?”

He quickly signed her book, before he forgot that was the reason for their meeting in the first place. She was the last in line, and he was free. Thank God! Sorry, muse, position filled.

“Jack Roarke, it’s a pleasure, Miss Corrigan.”

To Take Up The Sword
Elemental Magic #2
Blurb: Missing diamonds and a killer on the loose…will a schoolteacher and FBI agent escape with their lives and hearts intact?

After the acquittal of Gueraldi's right hand and favored killer for hire, Ashton Smythe, Special Agent Gabriel Spiller takes time away from his work with the FBI. Having failed in his mission to avenge his lost would be lover, Serena Roarke, Gabe returns to Alabama in search of the missing diamonds needed to reopen the investigation and to lay low from the death threats he's received since Smythe went free.

Almost two years after her sister's death, Leannan O'Neal feels the loss of Serena more now than ever. A secret meeting between them before she died left Lea with an ugly figurine and nothing but questions. Hang-up calls at work and a trashed house reminds her of the card Serena gave her. "If you find yourself in trouble, go to him and only him" were the last words her sister spoke to her.

With Smthye out for revenge and hot on her heels, Lea goes on the run in search of Serena's 'Angel', but how long can Gabe keep her alive, and is the cost worth more than her life?

Wait for the Wind
Elemental Magic #3
Blurb:  Kate O'Connell grew up loved by the Corrigan family, all the while suffering from the inescapable reality of her own alcoholic father. At a young age she gave her heart and innocence to Ryan Corrigan. For once happiness seemed within her reach, until in one horror-filled night, the monster she called 'Daddy' changed everything.

Ryan is glad to be back on Irish soil, but the reason he left still haunts him. As he tries to build a new life and redeem his past, can he forgive Kate and reclaim his healing gift in time to save his sister and her twins?

Sea’s Sorceress
Elemental Magic #4
Blurb:  Love can come along at the most inconvenient times...
Skye Corrigan treasures family above all else. Standing by his best friend Rhia while she suffers the heartache of losing her father to cancer has strengthened their childhood bond. Lately Rhia affects him in ways she never has before.
Rhiannon O'Malley shares Skye's past and hopes for a future with him, but love must come with a willing heart. Her father's terminal illness has left her in charge of the family pub. Skye has always been there for her, but when their relationship changes, will she find the courage to claim the future? Or will a thousand-year-old curse keep its grip on two hostage hearts?

Fire’s Ice
Elemental Magic #5 (series end)

Cover Reveal~ Overwhelmed by You by Nashoda Rose

Book Title:  Overwhelmed by You
Author: Nashoda Rose
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date:June 3, 2014

Synopsis:

Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you.
KAT
I don’t beg.
I don’t cry.
And I don’t give second chances.

Ream, the lead guitarist of the rock band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot.
I hate him.

Until …

Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he was loud and obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever.

But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s steady confidence that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers.

Then…

Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first.

REAM
Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it and I hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past.
I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

Torn From You
Book One of Tear Asunder Series
Available at Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Smashwords

Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder, knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him.

Then it all shattered.

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

With You
A Tear Asunder Novella
Available at Amazon / B&N / Smashwords / Kobo

Sculpt is an illegal fighter.

He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band.

No one knows his real name.

And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine.

In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I’d been bucked off horses, kicked and stepped on. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.

I tried to ignore it.

Then I tried to stop it.

I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting cool and completely immune to what he was doing to my body—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained.

Then he kissed me.

Author’s Note: This novella is Sculpt and Emily’s beginning and how they met. It is highly recommended to read before “Torn from You”.

*Warning* Huge cliff-hanger. Like huge! But “With You” and “Torn from You” are released on the same day.*

How can she keep her distance from the one man who could tear down her walls and stomp on her resistance?
