Book Spotlight & Giveaway~ Fistful of Love

Don't forget to enter the giveaway at the end of the post for a chance to win a $15 gift card to Amazon and an  e-copy of book . The contest closes on May 30th. The tour is sponsored by Pride Promotions.

Talking with the author, Renee Cronin

What started your interest in writing?
I’ve always wanted to write. As a childhood, I liked writing and in college, I loved to put together stories in my English class. It wasn’t until 2005, that I actually started writing. A good friend of mine had written a few books and then got published. I was inspired at that point to write the characters beating at my brain to get out.

If zombies attacked what kind of supplies would you want?
A machete (off with their heads!) Food (because I will be holed up somewhere and I must eat)

If you could sit down with any author dead or alive who would it be?
Nikki Giovanni – I admire her work a lot.

Do you keep a notebook near your for when new ideas pop into your head?
No, not the smartest idea. Ideas pop in my head all the time and I rely on memory. Not a good plan!

If you write a series do you reread your previous books before you begin the new one?
I haven’t written a series, but I plan to, so yes I definitely will be re-reading the first one.

Is there anything you wish to say to your readers?
Thank you for your support and motivation. Thank you for making me want to keep doing what I am doing.

For readers who haven't tried your books yet, how do you think your editor or loyal readers would describe your books?
That’s a hard one. I think they would describe it as written from the heart. Books that get across that relationships, no matter if they are same sex or heterosexual, deal with the same issues.

I’m always looking for book recommendations. What books have you been reading? Would you recommend them?
Lately I have been reading a lot of gay (male) romance. I’m a huge fan of Lissa Reed, Kade Boehme, Santino Hassell and many more. I recently read Roan Parrish’s new release “Out of Nowhere.” A definite yes. And if you are looking to laugh, TJ Klune is your man! Two authors that I absolutely love are J.D. Mason and James Patterson. Highly recommended.

How often does your muse distract you from day to day minutiae?
Constantly! Which is why I should have a notepad near by. My muse is usually distracting me when I can’t do anything about. Mostly when I am driving, that’s a PITA!

What do readers have to look forward to in the future from you?
My first novel “Tastes Like Cherry” has a sequel coming. I need to give it a lot more time and attention, but my plan/hope is to have it released by the end of the year. The working title is “Tastes Bittersweet.”
I plan to write a sequel to Fistful of Love and maybe a novella, with Trevor and his boyfriend Marco. They are secondary characters in the book, but I love them dearly.
I have a few WIP’s that are vying for my attention as well. I’ve thought about doing an anthology of some of those stories, but only time will tell what happens with that.

Now let's check out Renee Cronin's Fistful of Love.....

This was not her idea of true love. With the support of Roman, Jeya finds a way to leave. But Rayne isn’t letting go that easily. They made a commitment to each, and she has the tattoo to prove it - ‘Til Death Do Us Part

Torn between the love she has for Rayne and the instinct to protect herself, is Jeya’s will stronger than her vow?

Pages or Words: 46,323

Categories: Lesbian Fiction, Domestic Violence

Excerpt:
It’s over.
Two simple words, intended to signify the end, were instead just the beginning. Jeya took a deep breath, and the pain that pierced her side served as the reminder she needed. She hit the send button. Unexpected relief instantly washed over her. “I did it. Step one. Now for step two.” Jeya placed her phone on the bed and stood up to double-check her suitcase. Going over the checklist in her mind, she felt confident that she had the essentials. A week away from home required more than she’d anticipated, but she had no intention of returning until the rainstorm had passed. Jeya took a second to acknowledge the double entendre of the word. Her girlfriend, Rayne, was definitely a hurricane. Her temper was unpredictable and left damage in its wake similar to that which Hurricane Gloria had. She knew she’d be safer at Roman’s house for the next several days.
The lyrics to “Dangerously in Love” cursed the air. The perfect ringtone to describe her relationship. She braced herself as she walked to the bed and picked up the phone. Jeya anticipated nothing less than an explosive response from her short-tempered girlfriend.

Meet the author:
Renee Cronin is a self-professed devour of knowledge, and a voracious reader. She began writing in earnest in 2005, when the characters in her head became so loud she was forced to tell their stories, or risk getting swept away into the abyss of her imagination. Renee has since used writing as a personal outlet to express her feelings, ideas, views, thoughts, and opinions about the world and the issues that impact her on a deep personal and societal level. (And of course writing also quiets the voices in her head of the many characters that are yearning to have their stories told.) Renee’s inspiration to publish is in large part due to the overwhelming display of encouragement, and support from family and friends, who believe she has a gift with words that need to be shared with world. Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, she works in the social work field avidly advocating and supporting the varied needs of the people in her community. Renee is a bibliophile with a transcendent love for words. Her soul yearns for the acoustic stylings from a plethora of musical genres. As she continues on this journey of published author she hopes to keep her readers captivated and pining for more.

Excerpt

From Trash and Treasure by M.D. Grimm Some of the coldness left Ronan’s eyes. He seemed confused again. Why did Tucker seem to confuse Ronan so much? Then it happened. Ronan nodded. “Deal.” Tucker barely stopped himself from gaping again. It worked? He was going to have sex? He was going to have sex! He didn’t let himself think about how long it had been since his last partner. It would only depress him. He knew what to do... mostly. Tucker tossed the ball underhand to Ronan, who caught it with a startled expression. “What?” Tucker said. “It’s not like you can go anywhere. Your ship’s caput and even if you tried to hack into my navigation system, you wouldn’t get far. My ma designed it and she was the best there was. Just letting you know in case you had a thought of bashing me over the head and commandeering my ride." Ronan looked insulted. “I would never do such a thing. I am not a thief or vagabond.” “Then what are you?” Ronan’s mouth pulled into a thin line. Tucker shrugged. “Fine. Keep your secrets. Come on, follow me. Let’s both take a well-needed shower.” A blush suddenly crept up his face. “I mean, a shower separately. Let’s take a shower—oh, never mind. Just come on.” He turned his back on Ronan and called himself an idiot. He dearly hoped he wasn’t making a huge mistake. But he wouldn’t go back on it now. He really, really wanted to have sex.

Book Spotlight~ Girls Will Be Girls

Christmas cheer with colleagues, a driving disaster turned good, hot older women, girls in uniform, gorgeous gardeners and naughty fun in a changing cubicle… this collection contains a variety of erotic tales sure to tickle your fancy.

Excerpt:
She was now mere inches away, but the thickness of the bushes meant she could still only see the boots and now a bit more of the green trousers. Stepping onto the mud, she crouched down beside the feet, carefully pushing the foliage aside so she could see what the hell was going on, and figure out what she was going to do about it.
The view opened up, and Verity, far from seeing a helpless person lying on the soil, was presented with a green-clad arse reversing hurriedly in her direction!
“Hey!” she said, letting go of the branches and shifting back so abruptly she ended up on her own arse on the grass. “Be careful! Are you all right?”
As the body continued emerging, Verity slowly came to realise her mistake. Dirt-covered trousers, a filthy black waterproof coat, gloved hands, and a head topped with a floppy hat were soon visible. Slim white cables trailing from each ear and disappearing into the collar of the coat explained why she hadn’t been heard calling out, or received a response.
This woman hadn’t hurt herself. She was a fucking gardener!
Frozen in her uncomfortable position, Verity wanted the ground to open up and swallow her. Perhaps as revenge for her landing on it so hard. But she had no such luck. Instead, she heard, “What on earth are you doing down there? Are you all right?”
Struck dumb, Verity nodded and took the now glove-free hand that was offered to her, allowing the other woman to pull her up off the grass. “I—I’m fine,” she finally forced out, breaking the brief eye contact and making a show of brushing herself down, though it was probably only her bottom that was dirty. Her cheeks blazed, and she took a step back, hoping to beat a hasty retreat.
“Well, I’m glad. But it still doesn’t explain what you were doing down there.” The ear buds now hung down the woman’s front, and she was apparently poised, awaiting a reply.
Verity shook her head. “I don’t think you’d believe me if I told you.”
Narrowing her eyes, the gardener said, “Try me.”
Christ. Just to add insult to injury, it seemed she was now suspected of some kind of wrongdoing, too! “I—I was over there,” she pointed to where she’d come from, “and I saw your wellies poking out from the bushes. I panicked because I thought someone had fallen and hurt themselves. I came over to try and help. I did call out to you, to see if you were all right. But all I could see was the boots and a little bit of your trousers. I had no idea what was going on. Much less that you were the bloody gardener and remained oblivious to what I was up to because you had headphones in! I crouched down and pushed the bushes aside so I could see you better, and the next thing I know you’re shuffling back towards me. I shifted out of the way and ended up tumbling over on my bum.”
It seemed her story was too amusing to be anything but true, because the gardener grinned widely, then clapped a hand over her mouth momentarily. “I’m so sorry,” she then said, “I didn’t hear you, honestly. But I guess I can see why you thought that. Thank you so much for coming to check on me, but it really wasn’t necessary. All I was doing was fighting with a particularly vicious weed.” She pointed down to an uprooted plant at her feet, then widened her eyes. “Are you all right? You didn’t hurt yourself, did you?”
Twisting to try and look at her bottom, Verity brushed again at the seat of her jeans. “Yes, I’m fine, thank you. Just a bit of muck and grass stains, I think. Nothing that won’t come out in the washing machine.”
“Oh, good. I’m glad. I feel bad enough as it is without thinking you’ve hurt yourself or ruined your clothes, too.”
“No, I’m good. And I’m glad you’re okay, too.”
Silence hung between them for a few moments. Then Verity took another step back. “Right, well, I’d better get going, anyway. Nice to meet you.” She turned to go, but the other woman’s voice stopped her in her tracks.
“Hey, wait. No need to rush off. I’m just about to go on my tea break. Want to join me? Perhaps a brew will make up for it?” Her green eyes—apt, for a gardener, Verity thought—sparkled with humour and intelligence, and for the first time, Verity realised that, underneath the grubby gardening gear and large hat was a very attractive woman.
Still, an excuse was on the tip of her tongue—she had come here to be alone, after all—but fate intervened. Or the British weather did, anyway. A handful of fat raindrops fell onto her, followed by a few more. Then, the heavens truly opened.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Reagan is the Fae Knight who keeps her Princess safe from harm. Duty and honor has been her mission in life but when she meets Ceri, she finds herself drawn to the royal princess even as it is forbidden.  As a child of the Fae goddess of war, Regan finds herself torn in two even as she falls for Ceridwen. But an enemy has Ceri in its sight and it is up to Reagan to keep her safe but what happens when Regan’s heart gets involved even as she fights to save Ceri from harm.

This is the first book I have read from Brantwijn Serrah and I got to admit GOBLIN FIRES hit all my love buttons. Fae characters, sexy scenes and a fast paced storyline that leaves you clamoring for more. The Fae are ruthless, intriguing and captivating and I love anything I can get my hands on to read. This author delivers a fast paced story that leaves you wanting more. A story of magic, duty, honor and love, Ms. Serrah delivers a story that captures your heart without you even knowing it. The world building this author does is amazing. I loved that the author slowly gave out tidbits of the world and not information dumped on the reader. That made the story line so much better in my opinion.

Meet Regan, A Fae Knight who has fallen in love with her princess, Ceridwen. But as a child of the Goddess of War, it is forbidden to love the princess except no one has bothered to tell that to Regan’s heart. I love, love, love Regan. Her devotion to her princess is outstanding, the love she feels for her is heart meltingly awesome and the author does a great job in creating her as a well rounded character. I have to admit, I normally do not read F/F stories but this one just drew me in right from the beginning. Regan and Ceri are both well written and very enjoyable characters. The author does a great job in capturing their inner most secrets and desires perfectly on the pages of GOBLIN FIRES.

If you enjoy the world of the Fae, simmering sexual tension and more then you just might enjoy GOBLIN FIRES, a story that will leave you left wanting more. Ms. Serrah is one author I am eager to read more of and can’t wait to see what else this author has in store for her readers. Get ready for a story that will knock your socks off and steal your heart.

Welcome Alexis Hall and a Giveaway

Hello, and welcome to my second ever blog tour, celebrating Riptide Publishing’s release of my second ever novel, IRON & VELVET. Yay!  Thank you so much to Dawn's Reading Nook for hosting me. And, to you, dear reader, for stopping by. If you’d like to come with me and keep me company on my virtual wanderings, you can find a full listing of when and where I am here.

There’s also some kind of contest type thing happening.  I had a bit of trouble choosing a prize for this one because most of the things Kate likes (booze, cigarettes, knives, women) are illegal to ship internationally. I thought about a fedora, but then I remembered people had differently shaped heads and there was no point sending somebody an item of clothing they wouldn’t be able to wear. So, basically, that leaves coffee and Bovril and nobody likes Bovril except people from the North East of England. I’m therefore going offer 250g of Jamaican Blue Mountain, the nicest coffee in the known universe, purchased from a wonderful speciality shop, ground or beaned to your specification. If you don’t like coffee, I’ll replace it with an equivalently lovely tea. And if you really want to try the Bovril, I could probably be persuaded to throw that in as well.

If you’d like win this distressingly perishable souvenir please answer the three questions below (clues in the book) and drop me an email. I’ll announce the winner a handful of days after the end of the tour.
  1. Whodunnit?
  2. What is hanging in the study of Aeglica Thrice-Risen?
  3. What’s Rule Twelve?
About AJH
Alexis Hall was born in the early 1980s and still thinks the 21st century is the future. To this day, he feels cheated that he lived through a fin de siècle but inexplicably failed to drink a single glass of absinthe, dance with a single courtesan, or stay in a single garret. He can neither cook nor sing, but he can handle a seventeenth century smallsword, punts from the proper end, and knows how to hotwire a car. He lives in southeast England, with no cats and no children, and fully intends to keep it that way.
You can also find him all over the internet, on his websiteFacebookTwitterBookLikes, and Goodreads.

About Iron & Velvet

First rule in this line of business: don’t sleep with the client.

My name’s Kate Kane, and when an eight-hundred-year-old vampire prince came to me with a case, I should have told her no. But I’ve always been a sucker for a femme fatale.

It always goes the same way. You move too fast, you get in too deep, and before you know it, someone winds up dead. Last time it was my partner. This time it could be me. Yesterday a werewolf was murdered outside the Velvet, the night-time playground of one of the most powerful vampires in England. Now half the monsters in London are at each other’s throats, and the other half are trying to get in my pants. The Witch Queen will protect her own, the wolves are out for vengeance, and the vampires are out for, y’know, blood.

I’ve got a killer on the loose, a war on the horizon, and a scotch on the rocks. It’s going to be an interesting day.

You can read an excerpt and, y’know, cough, buy the book, if you want, at Riptide Publishing.

Tour Stop with Mila Kerr

Alter Ego

I don't keep it secret that I write as both Mila Kerr and Alta Hensley. I have an alter ego.

I decided to create the two names to keep it really clear what genre I write in. Alta Hensley writes the really naughty bdsm/spanking erotic romance, and Mila Kerr writes the lesbian romances. I'm sure some readers can cross over and like both, but some can't. So, I wanted to make sure that I kept my two personalities separate.

I wrote a book called Of Yesterday as Alta Hensley in 2012 and loved the premise. It was an erotic spanking romance that focused on moving to an old-fashion town, built on old-fashion values. Picture a modern-day version of Little House on the Prairie. I loved it. I loved the book, I loved writing it, and I loved the idea of this utopian community. I loved it so much that I didn't want to let it go. So, rather than jumping into a sequel (which I may still do), I decided to continue this idea, but as a story from Mila. I wanted my ladies to get to experience this world.

So, I kept the idea, brought in Luna and Rylie, and created Aspen Meadows. This lesbian romance is like stepping into a historical novel but still kept in the contemporary. The blend is what makes this book so much fun.

If you had the chance to step back in time, would you?

What if you could live in a community built around the morals of yesterday?

Rylie James isn't happy in today's world. She longs for a time when life was simpler. When people could work off their land and be part of a true, small town community. Trying to bring back history, Rylie has spent years building a new society that is a replica of an old 1800's town.

Before making the big move to the historical utopia of Aspen Meadows, Rylie's world is turned upside down by the free spirited Luna Forester. Now she questions if she is trying to build happiness, when she may be staring directly into it.

Luna Forester's entire life is about to change with one single proposition: move to Aspen Meadows and create a new future. Moving to Aspen Meadows is her chance to start over. Start a new life, find happiness...and possibly find love. But can she deal with the stubborn, overbearing, yet completely seductive, Rylie James?

Available from Amazon UK / Amazon

She also writes under the name Alta Hensley for all her books in the genre of Spanking/Domestic Discipline/BDSM Romance.

Welcome Michaela Rhua

Welcome to my Reading Nook, Michaela Rhua. Please make yourself at home and let my cabana boys/girls get you a drink.

Comfortable? Wonderful. Now let’s get started.

Tell us about your favorite character from your books.
I would have to say Nali from Gyspy Butterfly in The Eclipse of the Blood Moon. She has overcome pain and suffering and established a life for herself outside of the family that rejected her.

Tell us about your current/upcoming release. What inspired this story?
Guardian Awakening starts off with Romy who is an exotic dancer. She comes across a stranger who she finds connected to. But when he reveals who he really is, she realizes he is the enemy – a Guardian Demon. She has been trying to hide the fact that she is an Asuriya Demon and we discover why.
The story itself came out of nowhere and I knew the main characters and backgrounds straightaway so the story formed itself.

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?
I don't have a routine a such. My writing time is in the evenings after all the family are settled. I tend to jot down ideas in my notebook when I am at work, then work on these when I get home.

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
Finding the time to write when I am inspired. Usually When I am desperate to write I end up with very little time to do so, which is really frustrating!

What do you think makes a good story?
I think many things make a good story. It has to touch people in some way, a strong conflict is good, characters who you can understand, are interested in or get involved in. Unexpected events are a good draw in as well and romance or sex that fits in at that point rather than forced in.

Plotter or Pantser? Why?
I think I am a PLANTSTER!
I tend to do a bit of both. It depends on the story and what grabs me first. For this one, I just started writing. I was a pantser and the story grew as I wrote. Whereas one of my wips I have plotted out already. Just need to get on and write it!

How do you develop your plots and your characters? Do you use any set formula?
Sometimes the plot develops as I write, such as Guardian Awakening. Other times the character jumps out fully formed as in Gypsy Butterfly which is part of The Eclipse of the Blood moon anthology.

What book are you reading now? Any favorite authors/books you want to do a shout out for?

At the moment I am reading The Prince by Tiffany Reisz. I read The Siren on recommendation and loved the character of Nora. I have a bit of a thing for Soren as well!

What do you do to unwind and relax?
Read. Relax with a glass of wine with friends. Watch TV with my family.

Morning Person or Night Person?
Neither. I think I am a middle of the day person!

Coffee, tea or other drink to get you moving in the morning?
Earl Grey Tea.

What is coming up from you in 2013? Anything you want to tease us with?

I have written the second book in the Guardians series, called Guardian Possession. So it is a case of edits and submit. I intend to write a third and final book in this series, but have no idea at the moment. I have another new book out called Truth or Dare with Evernight Publishing. This is a contemporary F/f romance, involving two friends who during a dare go one step too far and have to face the truth.

Anything else you want to add?

Thank you very much letting me visit. Your support to this 'trying to get there' author is fantastic. Anyone can find out more about me here:

Teaser:

She slowly walked across to the sound system and chose a track to dance to. Sometimes customers liked to choose their own music, but he had not done so. She selected R. Kelly's "Ignition." The beat kicked in, and Romy dropped her hip to the right, stepped back, and dropped her hip to the left. She swung round with her hands on her breasts, eyes half-closed, and really got into it. The music took over; she gyrated her hips toward him, and she slid her hands up and down her body. She wove her body back around to him and bent forward, giving him a great view of her ass as she brought her hands up to separate her cheeks and quickly let go. Spinning around again, she bounced to the music, knowing her breasts were the star of the show for this bit. She let her hands wander between her legs and into her black panties before moving her hand out and pinging the elastic.

The whole time she maintained as much eye contact as she could. Licking her lips often and moving forward, she put her breasts as close as she could without touching. Turning around she placed her hands on his legs and felt firm thighs. She sat in his lap and ground her ass into his obvious erection. The movements were meant to arouse the customer into paying for more time. Some even climaxed, which was why there were tissues and wipes under the table. This time she found herself lost to the music, and the contact with his jeans-clad cock sent jolts throughout her body. She touched herself in time with the rhythm, getting aroused as the heat between them rose. Romy had never felt so good dancing for anyone before.

This was when some customers lost control and tried to make a grab. So she got up and strutted to the door. She spun on the spot and spread her arms, draping herself across the door, swinging her hips so her ass was rubbing against the wood behind her. The rubbing action caused him to shift his position. She knew he was trying to make his hard cock more comfortable in his jeans. His blues eyes sparkled, and she could see he was clenching his jaw; his hands were fisted at his sides. She danced closer to the door, hips swinging, ass at all angles, and breasts squeezed together. The track went into fade, and Romy gradually stopped, smiling her "were you happy with that" smile, and stood still.

That had been amazing; she had never felt so alive, so eager to show herself to a man before. He stood up slowly. Then he walked over to her, his movements that of a prowling animal. The bulge in his trousers was obvious. Romy took a step back and hit the door, and she gulped. He was huge next to her; in her heels she stood at five feet ten inches, but he was well over six feet with huge shoulders, blond, shoulder-length hair, and a stubbled chin. He reached into his jacket pocket, pulled out a few notes, and hooked them into her red lace bra. That brief touch sent sparks through, her straight to her clit. He was so close; she could feel his warmth and longed to be closer still. He took a deep breath as though he were inhaling her scent, and she groaned inwardly.

Leaning forward he said, "Thank you, Romy."
