📚Universal link: https://books2read.com/dreadnoughtsboxset

Blurb:

Can Kim and her gang of ex-military men win a dangerous race against time in order to deliver a project that could prevent a climate catastrophe? Find out in The Dreadnoughts box set.

Contains the complete series, all three books for the price of two—Search and Rescue, Cut and Run, and Safe and Sound.

Book 1, Search and Rescue

Kim’s trying to save the world—but is she actually going to make things worse?

Kim Medhurst is an ex-British military intelligence officer turned scientist and climate activist. A thrilling, potentially world-changing discovery leads her to a cave on a remote island off the Scottish coast. But before she can return to the mainland, a natural disaster traps her in the cave with limited food and water. Fortunately, she is an intelligent and resourceful woman who made a backup plan even before she stepped out of her own front door.

Enter Jason Chastain—owner and operator of a private security firm—and his friends Aidan Smith and twins Taylor and Joshua Greig. The foursome are also ex-military, so rescuing Kim should be a walk in the park for them. However, her discovery is so top secret she hasn’t even told Chastain and his buddies precisely what their mission is—instead relying on money and intrigue to get them to do the job. It works, until a series of events turn the rescue mission into an escape mission. Throw in a further revelation that will change all of their lives irrevocably and Kim begins to wonder if she’s bitten off more than she can chew.

Should she have left things well alone, or can this colossal mess be turned into something positive? This is about so much more than just five human beings, after all.

Book 2, Cut and Run

Kim’s on track to save the world—but will she pay with her life?

Kim Medhurst, ex-British military intelligence officer turned scientist and climate activist, has a vitally important project on her hands. The mysterious object she set out to retrieve from the remote Scottish island has the potential to power the entire planet. All she needs to do is figure out exactly how to make it happen, and the Scottish Highlands seems the perfect place to complete her research in peace—as well as enjoy the company of the gorgeous Greig twins.

Unfortunately, things aren’t that simple. Someone knows what Kim’s up to and wants to get their hands on her and the object she now calls the ygrene. As if that wasn’t concerning enough, Chastain goes missing, spurring Kim and the others into action. The team’s newfound abilities come in handy as they attempt to find their friend and navigate the murky underworld of dirty energy and those who profit from it.

But, even with their powers, will they be a match for a greedy megalomaniac with no morals?

Book 3, Safe and Sound

Kim is within touching distance of her goal – but is it already too late?

Kim Medhurst, ex-British military intelligence officer turned scientist and climate activist, is in a race against time. With help from her four men, she’s researching how to make the ygrene – the mysterious power source she retrieved from a remote Scottish island – a viable alternative to fossil fuel. An unexpected visitor recently bought them a little extra breathing space, but they’re painfully aware it won’t last forever.

Despite their hard work, the whole thing looks set to crash down around their ears when the greedy megalomaniac they’ve been desperate to avoid shows up on the Greig twins’ doorstep. While Kim and the gang would happily lay down their lives to stop the ygrene getting into the wrong hands, Kim would prefer to steer clear of violence. Their latest visitor claims he only wants to talk, but he’s brought goons carrying hardware, and Kim wouldn’t be Kim without a backup plan.

Will good prevail against evil, or have all the gang’s efforts and sacrifices been for nothing?

Welcome author Izzy Syzn & a Giveaway

Talking with author Izzy Syzn...

Thanks for stopping by to talk a little about your writing! Let's jump right in. When did you begin writing and why? I began writing about three years ago when a friend dared me to write.
I was resistant at first, I’d been reviewing for years and had a reputation of keeping a tight leash on authors. J I was afraid I’d be caught in my own writing cave.
But my friend was persistent and so I agreed to enter a contest. I thought if I was told that I sucked that I would give it up. But the response was very complimentary, I didn’t get a spot in the anthology of the winners, but the editors said to not stop and to enter again next time.
So, I’ve been writing ever since.

Do you have a favorite genre? Is it the same genre you prefer to write? Erotica, the hotter the better, especially mĂ©nages  Yep, I write it too.

Do certain themes and ideas tend to capture your writer’s imagination and fascinate you? Yeah, I get ideas from movies, television shows, talking to people. News events.

How do you balance long-term thinking vs. being nimble in today's market? I’m still learning, I don’t think you ever stop learning. Things change all the time.

How do you find readers in today's market? Social media, but I’m trying to go beyond because not everybody (shocking) is on facebook, or twitter, or any other platform.

Do you come up with the hook first, or do you create characters first and then dig through until you find a hook? The plots usually come to me in the middle of the night, around 3am. I’ll get a scene pop in my head and it will bug me all day until I finally find out what the book is going to be.

How do you create your characters? They talk to me and I listen. J

What's on the top of your TBR pile right now? Dark Thoughts by Cynthia Sax

Tell me a little about the characters in The Resurrection of Artemis.  The Resurrection of Artemis is a sexy version of Batman. ;) In it, Amy Wilson was once known as Artemis a cyber Robin Hood, she was given probation in exchange for helping the Feds to put safeguards in place to detract people like Amy.
Her probation is almost over, but three people want her out of retirement.
Quail City’s sexy crime fighting duo Dark Master aka billionaire Noah Adams and Calypso, Noah’s assistant Vanessa London.  They know she isn’t behind what is happening in Quail City but look at it as a chance to finally get Amy where they want her, both in bed and fighting crime with them.
Hinderer is trying to hold technology hostage but he needs Amy to help him complete his evil plans.
This is a FFM ménage.

Where’s the story set? How much influence did the setting have on the atmosphere/characters/development of the story? It takes place in the fictional city of Quail City. I live in Oklahoma City and everything here seems to be named after quails.
I’ve always loved the Batman series, because he used his brain to fight crime. He didn’t have any super powers.

If you had to write your memoir in five words, what would you write?
Should Have Listened to Mom.

How often does your muse distract you from day to day minutiae? My muse is rude. Likes to strike when I’m sleeping, or if I’m working and can’t write something down because I’m talking to customers all day.

What do readers have to look forward to in the future from you? I’m currently working on the next book in my Scandalous Fairy Tales series based on Beauty and the Beast.
I’m also playing with a plot idea for a new installment of Artemis, it really hinges on what readers think of the first one.  If they’d like to see more, email me at izzyszyn@gmail.com or find me on facebook.

Quail City’s super heroes Dark Master and Calypso aka as multi-billionaire Noah Adams and his assistant Vanessa London know Amy’s secret, and also know that she is being set up. Having spent months in a flirtmance with Amy, they are tired of waiting and want both her and Artemis in their bed.

Excerpt:
“People have been mentioning Artemis,” Calypso said. “You wouldn’t have heard anything?”
They knew, Amy thought. Somehow they knew. “No, Artemis isn’t here anymore. At least from what I heard.”
“Damn shame, too,” complained one of the customers in the shop. “Not the Artemis that is playing with the lights and stuff. But the Artemis who liked to help people with their problems.”
“Yeah, I think if someone is behind it, it’s someone pretending to be Artemis, or trying to shift the blame on her,” said another customer. “She may have done some things, but she’d never deliberately set out to get people hurt.”
Amy smiled at the person that made the comment. “I’ve been here all day. But it’s more than the traffic lights. Didn’t I hear that the other day the Financial District was shut down because the money showed at zero?”
“That is something that Artemis had fun with,” Dark Master commented. “Or had in the past.”
“I’m sure that whatever has been happening in Quail City has nothing to do with Artemis,” Amy replied.
“Hope for Artemis’ sake it’s true,” Calypso said. “Williams is ranting and raving in Commissioner James’ office asking for her to be arrested.”
Just bet he is, thought Amy. “Is there anything else I can get you?” Amy asked them. She saw that it was almost six and the last bus going towards her apartment would be there any minute.
“You in our bed,” Calypso said in her ear. “Your blue hair will look glorious on our pillows.” Then out loud stated, “That’s all for now.”

Discover Butt Villains on Vacation by TC Blue, Ally Blue, Kage Alan & Kiernan Kelly

Hello out there, all you beautiful readers! I’m Ally Blue, here to talk about the latest Butt book, Butt Villains On Vacation. Yes, folks, the butt buddies are at it again, and this time we have for you a totally butt-tastic collection of tales with a more or less unifying theme of villains and vacations. Fun, right?

My contribution to this year’s Butt-thology is an odd little confection called “The Flaming Skull B&B.” It’s the not-so-epic saga of a universe-weary professional villain from another planet who wants nothing more than to make others happy, and the friendly, clear-sighted human bartender who helps him learn how.

Right from the start, I wanted to tell the story of a villain rejecting his evil nature. When the idea of vacationing villains solidified as the theme of this year’s anthology—and no, I have no clue where that came from—Bad Guy Going Good was the first idea that jumped up in my brain and yelled pick me. I think of it as an extension of the vacation concept. Sort of a permanent vacation from villainy. It seemed to me like a natural step to take. At first, I thought my villain was going to be human. Maybe a mob boss or something. But then the voice in my head said naw, listen, what if he’s a professional villain FROM ANOTHER PLANET? Obviously that idea was too awesome to ignore. So here we are.

My hero-villain, Kynn-ang-Peen, looks pretty scary on the outside. He even has fangs. But he isn’t particularly villainous at heart. Sure, he blasts the occasional tourist with the Fire of the Ancients. But haven’t we all wished we could do that sometimes? Deep down inside, all he wants is to make people from across the universe happy. He reminds me of Ferdinand the bull, in The Story of Ferdinand. Do y’all remember that story? About the bull who looked big and fierce, but really just wanted to sit and smell the flowers instead of fighting? If you haven’t read that, please do so. It’s a completely awesome tale, one of my favorite books of all time. Yeah, it’s a children’s picture book. Don’t judge me.

Anyway, “The Flaming Skull B&B” brings together an alien villain who doesn’t want to be a villain and a human bartender who mixes the universe’s best mimosas. It’s weird and funny and sweet and Happily Ever After because that’s how I roll. Thanks for reading, I hope y’all enjoy the book!

Excerpt
Riley Jackson had worked at Cajun Alley for almost seven years. He’d met a lot of oddballs here. But until tonight, he’d never seen an alien.
He watched the tall, angular stranger from under his eyelashes while he pulled drafts. It wasn’t the tight, glittery black jumpsuit that said not human. This wouldn’t be the first guy who’d walked in here with a hard-on for the seventies. No, it was something about the man himself. Something in the cut-glass cheekbones and blue-black skin, in those cold, dark eyes, in his graceful movements and regal bearing.
A drunk tourist stumbled into Alien Guy, spilling beer on the retro jumpsuit. “Whoops.” The drunk man made a clumsy, ineffectual attempt to wipe off the beer. “Sorry, dude.”
The alien snarled, baring gunmetal-gray fangs.
Fangs.
Okay, that was definitely off-the-scale alien. Riley stared, a full pint in one hand and his other already sneaking under the bar to the pistol he hid there just in case.
“RJ, what the hell?”
He came back to himself in a rush. Heart thumping, he handed the beer to the woman who’d ordered it and aimed a half-assed smile at Ginny, his manager. “Hey. What?”
She narrowed her brown eyes at him. “Look, I know he’s hot, but I need you to focus on the customers, not the ass you might get later.” She cut a quick glance at Alien Guy. “And by the way, I don’t think he’s interested. Sorry.”
Riley peered sidelong at the alien and wondered what exactly she saw. “Um. Yeah. Probably not.”
She patted his shoulder. “Three Dark & Stormies for table eight.”
“Coming up.”
She bustled off. He mixed the drinks on autopilot, his mind preoccupied with the alien and what in the seven hells a being from another planet would be doing in a podunk bar in coastal South Carolina.
He caught Ginny’s eye from across the room when he’d finished and set the drinks on the bar. When he turned around, he found himself face-to-face with Mr. Fangs.
He stopped, pulse hammering in his throat. “Uh. Hi. What’ll you have?”
The alien regarded him with cool appraisal. This close, those dark eyes were huge, black as deepest space, speckled with bright blue dots like distant stars.
Riley found the sight hypnotically beautiful. He smiled.
Starman peered down at him like an aristocrat eyeing something mildly interesting that had crawled across his shoes. “This residence is noisy. It displeases me.” His voice was deep and resonant. Commanding. Haughty, even.
Amused, Riley planted his palms on the bar and titled his head. His flirty twink pose, Ginny would’ve said. “It’s a bar. It’s supposed to be noisy.”
The alien’s wide, full-lipped mouth pursed, hiding the fangs. “Why is a bar?”
Oddly enough, Riley thought he caught the gist of the question. He grinned, watching with curiosity when the blue in Starman’s eyes shaded to pink. “People come here to drink. Well, to meet each other, too. But mostly to drink.”
Those strange eyes fluttered shut for a moment. The alien sighed, a startlingly human sound in its put-out-ed-ness. “Alcohol.”
“Yep.”
Starman turned his head right, then left, studying the people around him like a scientist observing monkeys in their natural habitat. Probably not far from the truth, Riley mused. Then the alien stepped closer, resting his long, graceful hands on the bar top. One pointed pewter-colored fingernail tapped the scarred wood. “I would like alcohol.”
Riley fought back the urge to laugh, since he was pretty sure Starman wouldn’t appreciate it. “What kind of alcohol?”
The high, smooth forehead puckered. “I do not understand.”
Okay. This was going to be impossible without giving away that he knew this guy was an alien.
Leaning closer, Riley lowered his voice. “All alcohol that’s safe for humans to drink is pretty much the same. But it comes in lots of different flavors, and we mix it with different stuff, so there’s a million different ways to experience it.”
The starry eyes narrowed in dawning suspicion. “I know. I am a human male.”
This time, Riley didn’t try to hold back his laughter, though he kept it low. “No, you’re not.”
Blood-red swallowed the blueish-pink in Starman’s eyes. “How do you know this, human?”
Shit. Riley raised both hands, palms out. “I don’t know, okay? I just… feel it. And I can see you how you are, not how everybody else obviously sees you.” He glanced around at the other patrons. None were sitting close enough to overhear, thank God. “Listen, if they’d noticed the fangs? They’d be long gone, trust me.”
Starman stared at him. Several uncomfortable seconds dragged by before the red bled out of the alien’s eyes and cool, calm blue returned. “What is your designation?”
Huh? The lady sitting a little ways down the bar made the universal sign for gimme another beer, and Riley started pulling her a fresh pint. “Are you asking for my name? ’Cause my name’s Riley. Riley Jackson. My friends just call me RJ, though.” He grinned at Starman’s fierce frown. “What’s your name?”
That seemed to throw Mr. Alien Dude for a loop. He blinked, then flicked a forked tongue around the tips of his fangs. “My name? My name is… is Skip.”
Riley almost choked on his stifled laughter, because there was no way this guy’s name was Skip. But, hey, whatever. Maybe Riley could talk his real name out of him later on.
“Okay. Skip.” He grinned again, because, damn. “Are you just visiting our fair planet?”
A completely unexpected fire flared to life in “Skip’s” eyes, turning the starry pinpoints to rainbow-colored sparkles. Riley stared, mesmerized. God, that was gorgeous. He wondered if Not-Skip had any idea how his eyes reflected his emotions.
“I do not visit,” Starman insisted. “I am a businessman now. I have a bed and breakfast. I wish to make humans happy with rest and sustenance.”
Oh, that was too fucking cute. Riley handed Happy Lady her beer without looking, all his attention focused on the fierce determination glowing in Not-Skip’s weirdly beautiful face.
A sudden realization hit him. “Hey, you wouldn’t happen to own the Flaming Skull B&B down the road, would you?”
Not-Skip’s eyes swept down. Up again. The corners of his mouth curled in what passed for an alien smile. His fangs glinted in the low light. “That is my domicile, yes. You are perceptive for one of inferior origin.”
Riley decided not to point out that the only alien in town plus the Addams Family house equaled an obvious match. He wasn’t anxious to find out what those impressive teeth could do to his throat. “Thanks,” he said instead, figuring it was meant as a compliment. A couple at the other end of the bar beckoned him over. He nodded to them. It was still early, but before long the place would be hopping with the usual Friday night crowd. “Listen, you seem like a, um… being of discerning taste. Why don’t you let me mix you one of my special homemade Sangrias? On the house.”
Skip tilted his head back, peering upward with a puzzled frown. “Why on a house?”
Don’t laugh. He won’t like it if you laugh at him. How Riley knew that, he couldn’t say. Maybe it was the alien’s super-serious demeanor, like he was some sort of royalty.
Hell, maybe he was. Wow.

Teaming up with the spooky Spirit of Chicago, she aims to take down the dealers, the mobsters, the kingpin, and The Company. All without falling in love with the one man capable of capturing her heart.

How did you come with the idea for this story?

I've always loved the stories of cat burglars and jewel thieves, and Delilah's talent for unlocking things made it easy to use that as a frame for the story. In the first draft she starts with a heist (for a good cause!) but the book metamorphosed from there. Delilah became less reliant on her superpowers in each draft and Alan became much more confident with each draft.

Who is your ultimate "book boy/girlfriend"? You know, that hottie you read about and drool over.

Difficult to say… My first fictional crush was Faramir in RETURN OF THE KING. He's so flawless, although I'm not sure he was written to be a romantic hero. Jessan from PRICE OF THE STARS was my high school fictional boyfriend. He's witty, fun, and an excellent shot. Currently, well, Curran from Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels series would be at the top of the list, but I'm afraid his consort would kill me.

Who is your Celebrity crush? And what would you do if you ever meet them?

I don't do celebrity crushes. I can look at someone and agree they're hot, but I'm not really attracted to people who I haven't met and connected with on an emotional level. Which, by definition, makes me demisexual. Feel free to use that word in your next casual conversation about sexuality.

If you could collaborate with another author on a secret project, who would you pick to work with and why?

Oh, that's a hard one. Can I pick Joss Whedon? I know he's not a book author, but he's a writer, and I would love to be able to write dialog like he does. If I had to pick one writer to take an apprenticeship with, it'd be him. His characters are so clever and their stories are so fantastic. Seriously, Joss, if you read this… call me!

That’s why Doctor Charm’s favorite daughter found America’s second city so appealing—criminals are never boring. As second in command for the powerful Subrosa Security group, Delilah Samson finds opportunities to use her superpowers at every turn. Whether it’s stealing a priceless French painting from a mobster or stopping a drug deal, she’s game.

In fact, the only thing she doesn’t care for is Chicago’s favorite native son, Deputy Mayor Alan Adale, the man who made Lucifer jealous. Sinfully handsome, or possibly just sinful, Adale has been pursuing Delilah since she first arrived, and she’s been dodging.

When she finds ties between the new kingpin in town and a drug The Company wants to buy so they can create more superheroes, Delilah takes the gloves off. Teaming up with the spooky Spirit of Chicago, she aims to take down the dealers, the mobsters, the kingpin, and The Company. All without falling in love with the one man capable of capturing her heart.

Excerpt

Snow crunched under Delilah's boot as she stepped out of the cab on East Jackson Drive. "Park down by the university," she told Freddie as a voice on the police radio confirmed an ambulance was en route to collect the final remains of Mayor Arámbula.
Buckingham fountain was beautiful, even late on a winter night. Past the skeletal trees, golden lights illuminated the sparkling water—the strobe of blue and red from the waiting squad cars rather ruined the romantic affect.
The cab pulled away. Delilah walked through the fresh-fallen snow, drifting across the icy sidewalk with the calm demeanor of someone exactly where they belonged.
At the edge of the square, one of the officers noticed her. "Ma'am, can I help you?" he said stiffly, shining a flashlight at her face.
"No."
He squinted, trying to make out her face under the black top hat she wore. "Did you hear anything? See anything?"
"I didn't." She watched as the ambulance pulled up and paramedics hurried to the body. They lifted the dead mayor onto a stretcher and a scrap of paper fell out of his pocket. The wind caught it, lifting the paper up out of the snow and blowing it toward her.
"Hey!" one of the officers shouted. "Somebody grab that! Gelphi! Catch that!"
Delilah snatched the paper out of the air with a gloved hand. "Here," she held it out to the policeman she assumed was Officer Gelphi. Three barely legible words scrawled across the paper: Kalydon - 77 Wacker.
"Thank you." Gelphi took the paper back with obvious hesitation. "Ma'am, I'm going to ask you to move along. This is a crime scene."
"Of course." News vans were already parking on Lakeshore Drive and she didn't need to be on camera. "Have a good evening." Pivoting on her heel, Delilah strolled back along the snowy streets until her nose was numb. Seventy-seven Wacker was an office building that had been on the market for several months. It wasn't somewhere the mayor would have gone for a party, but a black market business deal? That sounded plausible.
A warm breeze alerted her to company. "Fancy meeting you here," The Spirit of Chicago said.
Delilah stopped, watching him from the corner of her eye. "How did you hear about this?"
"I have friends at the police department. You?"
She shrugged. "I know all the good gossips." She turned to face him, or as much as there was of him. The festively lit streets twinkled through his gossamer body. "Where were you tonight, superhero?"
"Where were you, do-gooder super villain?"
With a grimace, she shrugged again. "Busy. I have an airtight alibi. Over a hundred people saw me flirting with a handsome man tonight. We didn't get as far as drinks. Disappointing, overall. Your turn."
"I was trying to attract the attention of devastatingly beautiful woman."
Delilah almost laughed. "Oh? How'd that work out for you?"
"She looked right through me."
They turned side by side to watch the paramedics cover the late mayor's body. A chill that had nothing to do with the temperature and everything to do with the muted pallor of death wound its way up her spine, leaving her feeling isolated and angry.
