Marc longs for a grand romance, but he doubts he’ll ever be that lucky. Then he meets Darius, an arrogant tailor who pushes all his buttons. When Darius offers him a job, Marc hesitates—he needs a direction for the future, not another man who doesn’t believe in relationships.

Darius lives by a few unbreakable rules: never sleep with employees, fashion should be simple, and romance is for fools. Marc, with his shimmery-sweaters collection, makes him want to break every single one.

They quickly give in to desire, but Darius wants to protect himself and Marc refuses to repeat past mistakes. It’s only when they let go of assumptions, that love has a chance to take hold.

Well-Tailored is a companion novel to the Thorne and Dash series. It can be read as a standalone.

Blog Stop and Giveaway~ If Wishes Were Horses by Silvia Violet

Talking with Silvia Violet

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’ve been writing romance for over a decade. I got my start with Regency historicals then branched into paranormal. I wrote my first m/m romance in 2011 and I love it so much I starting writing m/m almost exclusively. I homeschool my daughters and writing gets fit in during the day around their schoolwork. I also love to cook and especially bake.

What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on Unexpected Trust, the sequel to Unexpected Rescue. This book focuses on Sport, on of the secondary characters from Unexpected Rescue. He’s a former SEAL who is now an FBI agent. He gets put on a special black ops assignment where he meets Danny O’Sullivan a spy who’s past is filled with shadows.

How long did it take you to get your rough draft finished on your latest release?
I finished the rough draft in about 7weeks. When I’m writing first drafts, I usually set a goal of at least 10k words/week.

Are any of your characters like you?
Eli from Needing A Little Christmas is more like me than any of my characters.

What genres do you write in?
For the last few years I’ve mostly stuck to shapeshifter paranormals and contemporary but I’ve also written sci fi, historicals and other paranormals.

Is there anything you would tell aspiring writers?
Keep going. Set a goal of an amount of time or a word count each day or week and don’t stop until you have your whole story down. First drafts can always be edited. The most important thing is to get the story out of your head and onto the page.

If you write a series do you reread your previous books before you begin the new one?
I do re-read at least the book that came right before the one I’m writing. It helps me get back into the characters and the setting and reminds me of details that have slipped my mind.

Is there anything you wish to say to your readers?
For readers who haven't tried your books yet, how do you think your editor or loyal readers would describe your books?

When writing, how do you keep track of timelines, ideas, inspiration and such? By notes on the computer, a notebook perhaps?
One of my favorite apps is Simplenote which is (like it sounds) a very basic note-taking app that can be synced with Scrivener. I have it on my phone and my iPad and that’s where I tend to make nots about my stories. I also have a file on my laptop for each book where I keep inspiration photos, research links, etc.

I’m always looking for book recommendations. What books have you been reading? Would you recommend them?
I’m currently reading Bad Company by KA Mitchell and I would highly recommend it. Some other great books I’ve read recently are The Only One Who Knows by Cat Grant and LA Witt and Chase in Shadow by Amy Lane (be prepared for a major tears with this one)

If Wishes Were Horses by Silvia Violet

Cover Artist: LC Chase
Publisher: Self-published

Kenneth Carver had everything growing up except warmth and acceptance. When protecting his family’s name became more than he could bear, he came out as gay, sold his company, and bought a horse ranch.
Andrew Wofford’s last undercover assignment nearly cost him his sanity. Now he has another chance of catching the drug runner who killed one of his informants and then escaped, but gruesome flashbacks threaten his ability to function in the field.

Andy’s latest investigation sends him to Ken’s ranch where he poses as a ranch hand. Ken is a prime suspect, but Andy refuses to believe Ken is guilty, in part because Andy is falling for him. Ken knows Andy isn’t who he seems, but he can’t bring himself to push the man away. When Ken hears rumors that someone is using his land to move drugs out of the city, he worries that it’s Andy. Neither man can trust the other even though that’s exactly what their hearts tell them to do.

Teaser Excerpt:

Andrew glanced down at his copy of the job application he’d submitted under the name, Andy Watson. His new identity kept with the rule of using a name enough like his own that he wasn’t likely to forget it—maybe it was too close but while he’d occasionally been called Drew, he’d never been Andy—and his background was mostly truth with a few embellishments like recent ranch experience. He’d learned that Kenneth Carver, rebellious rich boy, had taken a hands-on approach to running his ranch. He suppressed a shudder as he imagined just where he’d like the man’s hands, and he hoped Carver was just playing cowboy rather than having solid ranching knowledge. He didn’t need the man noticing how little several summers spent on his uncle’s ranch had actually taught Andy.

He slammed the door of the truck the department had given for him for the assignment, and a rusted-out patch caved in. Fuck, it had been seized from some asshole they’d locked up, and it was so old and beaten up Andy had doubted it would get him to the ranch. He hoped to hell there were ranch-owned vehicles he could drive, or he’d likely find himself walking wherever he needed to go.

The front door of the traditionally-styled ranch house was solid dark wood. Andy knocked and waited. A few seconds later, Mr. Carver opened it himself. Andy had been expecting a maid. He wasn’t at all prepared to be confronted with Kenneth Carver live and in person wearing an expensive white button-down, worn jeans that probably had a designer label over his fine ass, and cowboy boots that had actual dust on them. He was more rugged than he looked on TV, his face angled and craggy. His hands looked like he’d missed his recent manicure, but that would only make them sexier wrapped around Andy’s dick. But his smirk and those knowing eyes, those were just as Andy had expected. The man was a walking fantasy.

“Andy Watson?”

Andrew almost forgot and said his real name instead, but just in time, he caught himself. “Yeah, that’s me. I’m here about a job.”

“Do come in.” Carver bowed slightly and swept his hand out to indicate that Andy should enter.
Fuck, was the man flirting with him? Andy’s dick said it liked that a whole lot, but his other head knew that could lead to serious trouble. Despite what Gomez thought he might do, no matter what answers he would get from fucking Ken, getting that close would compromise him. The last thing he needed was flashbacks in bed.

But oh my holy God, Carver was even sexier in person than he’d been when the media had spent day and night detailing the events of his coming out. The man moved like he knew he could have whatever he wanted, and wow, that ass. His jeans fit it perfectly, and Andy wanted to reach out and test its firmness. Kenneth Carver was dangerous, like a jungle cat, ready to leap down from the trees and devour him. All Andy’s senses told him this man was shrewder than anyone gave him credit for and far more in his element on a ranch than Andy had thought he’d be. There was little or none of the ridiculous city playboy in him. That must have been an act for the cameras. This was a man who played for keeps. Andy was in a fuckload of trouble.

He followed Carver into his office. The heavy oak desk spoke of power and the wall of glass with French doors said he enjoyed looking at the land he’d made his own. Carver sat in his leather swivel chair, and Andy stood, facing him down, pissed as hell that he was so fucking nervous. He was no rookie. Sure the last time he’d been undercover he’d lost big. A good man had ended up dead, and he’d been left so screwed up he might not actually be fit for police work anymore, but he’d gone back in anyway, and he’d done it, putting assholes in jail, busting his ass, not looking back. So why was he acting like such a fucking baby now?

Ken studied Andy for several seconds. Then he grinned. “I’ve looked over your application. I’m glad you’ve had some experience, but frankly, a man can learn how to work a ranch fairly quickly. You’ve got to be willing to follow my rules if you want to be here.”

Andy nodded. Arrogant son of a bitch. At least, he wasn’t questioning Andy’s history. Gomez assured him his background was solid, but Ken was a billionaire whose fact-checking resources probably exceeded the FBI’s.

“What are those rules?” Andy asked, not quite succeeding in keeping his annoyance out of his voice.

Carver grinned at him. The asshole knew he was pissing Andy off, and he liked it.

“Forget everything you’ve heard about me. This ranch is my life now, and I take it very seriously. I have every intention of being involved in running it.”

“Yes, sir. I can’t see how that would be a problem for me.”

Carver ignored him and continued. “If you have a problem with who I am, a gay man with an asshole for a father and too much money, then walk out that door right now. I do not tolerate prejudice on this ranch. Everyone pulls their weight and respects all the other employees.”

Andy fought not to show his surprise, but knew he’d failed by the way Ken’s sexy mouth quirked up and his hazel eyes mocked Andy.

My Personal Review for Finding Release by Silvia Violet

When I saw that Silvia Violet had a new series featuring cowboys and shifters, why I just had to check it out. Get ready to ride at the Wild R Farm....

My Rating for Finding Release: 4 Stars

Coleman Wilder is a half-breed, half wolf/half human and is battling each other inside of him. He is determined to not act like a savage wolf but it is hard when he feels like he is on the edge of being torn apart. As a gay man in a conservative town, Coleman keeps his head down and runs his business…until he meets a sexy horse shifter then his whole world is torn apart. For horse shifter Jonah Marks, Coleman is his sanctuary, his safe place after a year of being abused and stuck in his horse shape. But trouble is looming as Jonah and Coleman are forced to defend themselves, their love and the farm against a group of people who are determined to destroy the couple and others like them forever.

Author Silvia Violet delivers a highly emotional yet sinfully sexy story of half-breed werewolf, an  abused horse shifter and more packed within the pages of Finding Release. I was blown away by the way the characters grew as the story went along. There is tension, sexual and otherwise, mystery, fear, forgiveness and lust that turns to love within the pages. Get ready to meet Jonah Marks and Coleman Wilder. Two different people yet the connection between them is very powerful yet scary at the same time. Coleman is feeling guilty for not being there when Jonah needed him and Jonah finds his humanity just in time when he looks into Coleman's eyes and remembers his life before he was forced to be in his horse shape for the last year. Silvia Violet captures the heartache, the pain of the abuse and how it lingers in someone as well as the healing power of love so beautifully, it brings tears to your eyes. When these two meet up again a year later, Coleman is determined to not let Jonah leave again and Jonah needs the healing power of Coleman's love for they need to face the one person who caused Jonah so much pain-Jonah's brother. Their love heals both of them even as it rescues them as well. This is a story that stays with you long after that last page is read.

Finding Release is more than a man meets man as they fall in love and live happily ever after. This is about forgiveness, of love in all its many splendid forms and strength to face your demons even as you feel your knees shake as you confront them. Silvia Violet conjures wide open spaces, sexy men on horses and all that encompasses a cowboy. Run-don’t walk-to grab this emotionally rich story and settle in for an afternoon of sexy cowboys & shape-shifters. I look forward to seeing where this author takes this new series and hope you can join the ride as well.

I got to admit, some stellar books came out this year from some of my favorite authors and some new ones I discovered.  This is only my top ten of books I discovered that stole my heart and made me want more from that author. 7: D.N. Simmons' Unholy Alliance- the final book in a engrossing series. You couldn't help but want more after the last page is read.

6: Hank Edward's Venom Valley 1: Bounty-when paranormal meets western. Delightful and that cliffhanger ending made me race to read book two.

5: Lauren Dane's Laid Open- my three favorite characters are back in the Brown Siblings series in this novella and we see how they finally find a way to reconnect together in the sand, sun and passion that will steal your heart.

4: Silvia Violet's Hoofin' It to the Alter-Mystery, vampires, shifters and love scorching hot. What more can a reader want?

3: L. E. Harner & Lisa Worrall's Continental Divide- a story that leaves you breathless even as you scream at the nook/kindle/computer at the end.

Changeling Press
Paranormal Erotic Romance M/M, Vampires/Shifters

Deer shifter Jason Fleetfoot and vampire detective Drew Danvers have been together for a year. When Drew proposes, Jason is thrilled but shocked. Vampires aren't usually the marrying kind, even the few who side with the good guys. Drew wants to elope, but Jason's sister, Natalie, insists on planning an elaborate ceremony.

As Jason and Drew fend off well-meaning friends and family, a far more serious problem threatens their union. A vampire killer is on the loose. He subdues his undead victims without a struggle and finishes them off by literally curdling their blood. Drew has no idea what could kill a vampire so easily, and everyone suspects he's next on the killer's list. Can he stop the killer in time for "Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today..." to start his wedding instead of his funeral?

Teaser Excerpt:

I’m Jason Fleetfoot, deer shifter and crime lab tech. I might look like a badass, but lately, I’m embarrassingly domesticated. I’m living like an old married man with a vampire. That’s right, a vampire. Me and my man have settled down into a predictable routine just like upstanding normal folks. A few months ago, I moved in with him and volunteered to keep working the night shift at the crime lab while he’s out chasing down bad guys. He’s a big, bad detective. Yeah, a vamp who works for the good guys. We come home from work, have dinner, well, I do. He has me for dinner. Then we watch a little TV and tuck in for the night or, rather, day.
What about the sex? Don’t look shocked, I know you’re interested. The sex is anything but predictable. Drew is hotter than a solar flare. We’re both stronger and faster than humans and willing to try almost anything. I’ll just say we’ve damn near brought the building down a few times and leave it at that.
I can barely believe we’ve been together for a whole year. Before I met Drew, if I fucked the same guy for a week, I started to get antsy, but now I’m in love. Yeah, I admit it. This badass stag shifter is all mushy-gushy, I-don’t-ever-want-to-leave-you in love. And love makes you dumb. Dumb enough to think a vampire would care about celebrating our anniversary.
I made us reservations and kept them a secret until today. I surprised Drew with the plans when he woke up early this evening, and he seemed happy, if a little distracted. I thought he was into my idea even though we rarely go out unless we stop by Shift for a beer on our night off. Drew doesn’t eat, but he likes to watch me when I order something special. I love to eat, and sometimes I really get into my food. Drew says I look like I’m about to come from the deliciousness, and he likes that, a lot.
So I got all dressed up, well, all dressed up for me, which means a collared shirt and a coat with my jeans, and planned to have a nice, civilized evening. But Drew went to do some errands after he got up, and now he’s a half hour late meeting me at the restaurant, and he’s not answering his phone.
Now, my anger turns to fear as I think how unlike him it is to be late. He just closed a case involving a werewolf pack that was kidnapping young women. Supposedly, the guilty parties were in jail, but what if they’ve found a way to get retribution? And they are far from the only people who’d like to see Drew permanently dead. Thanks to the news coverage of his kidnapping and forced Change at the hands of a vampire crime boss and the city’s unlikely decision to let him keep his job with the police force, Drew is fairly well known. There are plenty of people out there, human and vampire, who don’t like the idea of his kind fighting crime.
I grab my phone to call Drew again, but as I do, he walks through the door. He looks amazing. He’s wearing gray dress pants and a pale blue shirt that strains against his broad shoulders. He even has on a tie, blood red, of course. He must have bought the outfit while he was out, because I’ve never seen any of those clothes in his closet. He smiles at the hostess, the smile that gets most female witnesses to tell him anything he needs to hear. It used to make me jealous when he looked at others like that, but now I just smile and think how lucky I am to have him all to myself.
He catches sight of me, and his smile widens. My heart pounds. Even after a year, I still get excited when he looks at me like that. I’m so relieved he’s not decapitated in an alley somewhere that I can’t stay angry about his tardiness. He’s too damn charming in his suave clothes.
When the hostess walks away, Drew’s hot gaze pins me in place. “I’m sorry I’m so late,” he says.
“You didn’t answer your phone.” Shit! I sound like a nagging wife.
“First time you called I was paying for something. Then I rushed home to change. I thought it would be better to get here as fast as I could rather than wasting time calling you.”
Logical, but annoying. “I was worried.”
Drew frowns. “Why?”
“Um, you’re a detective, remember? You chase bad guys who’d be happy to see you dead, and you just put some savage pieces of shit in jail.”
“Oh yeah.” He looks thoughtful.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen tonight?”
He shakes his head. “No, I’m just distracted.”
“Did Seth call? Did you get a new case?” Seth is Drew’s lieutenant and also a good friend.
“No. I’m fine, really.”
Our server approaches the table. Drew looks relieved that I can’t question him any more.
We place our drink orders, and I try to engage Drew in conversation, but he’s doing his cold, distant vamp routine, and it’s pissing me off. “If you didn’t want to go out, why the fuck didn’t you say so?”
The server times his reappearance perfectly to save Drew again. I wonder if he heard me, but I’m too angry, and I don’t care about making a spectacle. Why was Drew acting like he’d rather be anywhere else?
I order, and the server turns to Drew expectantly. Drew gives him a smile that shows fang. His eyes widen, and he steps back. “So that will be all then, gentlemen?” He nearly chokes on the last word.
“Yes, thank you,” I say. I glare at Drew. “What was that for?”
“I don’t want him hovering.”
“You don’t want him flirting.”
He shrugs.
Drew attracts men and women without trying, whether it’s because he’s a vampire or just his natural magnetism. He usually finds several admirers wherever we go, but he’s more likely to scare them away than flirt back.
He smiles at me, and instead of looking disinterested like he did before, he looks turned on. What game is he playing?
