My Rating for Fury In Death: 5 Stars and a Series Recommended Read

When Eve Dallas gets a call of a dead body, she never knows if she's going to be chasing a killer or solving it right at the scene but what she does know, Larry Chu's death scene, leaves more questions than answers in a perplexing case where the facts lead to more than one answer.  For Eve understands the rage behind the murder but knows that the victims all have one thing in common and she is determined to find that answer and put a killer bent on rage, madness and revenge in a cell.

My Review for Fury In Death:

Fury In Death is the next installment in this long running series by J.D. Robb that just keeps getting better and better with each book. I am always awestruck on how this author keeps the cases fresh with each book that Eve Dallas and company need to solve as well having the characters continue to grow as people. This is an author who is a master at creating complex storytelling and characters that fairly walk off the pages. I love this series right from the first book, Naked In Death, and Fury In Death as the 63rd book in the series continues Eve's growth as a person as well as a police investigator. The story is fast paced right from the start and doesn't quit until the very last page is read. It's complex and delivers a few twists I sure didn't see coming at all and was surprised when the reveal of the killer was introduced. J.D. Robb is a class unto herself and I for one am always amazed at the way this author sets up her readers right from the start, drawing them into the story and weaving a spell around them. 

With each page I turned, I was drawn deeper and deeper into this mystery that didn't just encompass the original murder of Larry Chu but like a spider, a web of other interesting facts that came to light that had me on the edge of my seat along side Eve and the gang. With her trusty friends and Roark by her side, Eve races to stop a madman bent on revenge and fury. It's the characters that does it for me in this series. Eve Dallas and Roark are the main characters but branching from them is all these amazing secondary characters that we grow to love around them. Complex, life-like and always, at times, entertaining to a a fault, this is an author who knows her characters in this series intimately and delivers some of the best characters around. 

If you haven't tried this series before I highly recommend starting from book one, Naked In Death, to get the full cast of characters and how it all begin. I can't help but wait with anticipation for the next book coming in early 2027 because Fury In Death delivered one story that had me turning the pages until the wee hours of the morning just to see how it all ends.

With a serial killer on the loose dropping bodies with no reason, Eve is struggling to find her way into a killer's mind. With each passing day, she tries to figure out what motivates this killer as she and her team draws ever closer to a person so twisted, they took the murders right from a popular authors crime novels and making fiction a reality.

My Review for Dark In Death:

J.D. Robb is an autobuy author for me and in this installment in her beloved In Death Series, we find Lt. Eve Dallas standing over a dead body in a quiet movie theater showing the classic film Psycho. What makes this murder more strange isn't the fact the murder is twisted but it's taken fiction murder's to a whole new reality. With more bodies dropping in a weird ways, Eve is pressed to figure out who, what and when the killer will strike next even as she races to stop the killer. Ms. Robb delivers an amazing story that literally had me glued to the pages till the very end. A few twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat and I loved the way this author cleverly incorporates different story subplots within the main story. They lighten up the story at times while also showing a more human side to Eve and the gang. 

In Dark In Death, we find Eve up against a killer who is literally taking murder scenes right from the pages of a popular book series. With each book Eve goes through, mre bodies drop. With a killer racing to finish their kill list, Eve will need everything at her disposal to bring this killer to justice all before another life is lost. I love, love, love this series and the characters just flow off the pages and into my living room each time I open one of these books. This is an author who is a master storyteller at keeping the reader engaged and flipping pages as quick as they can. With this being book 46 in the series, you would think the series would get old and stale but with each release, I am always amazed at how this author keeps the series fresh even as they have the characters grow within the pages. To me this is the work of a mast storyteller and one I know I am not the only one grateful for. 

Dark In Death is full of twists and turns right fromt he beginning and as the climatic ending comes to the forefront, we see Eve and the team up against a twisted killer determined to get her due regardless of Eve, Peabody and the rest of her team's determination to stop her will stand in their way.  If you enjoy complex characters that are fun, well written and step off the pages of the book, then grab an In Death book but I highly recommend starting right from the beginning as there are mentions throughout the series of pasty books and characters. I know I am not the only one who is eager for more in the series everytime I finish one of these books.

My thoughts: I love Yasmine Galenorn's awesome world building and stories and was thrilled to see she is spinning off her wildly popular Wild Hunt Series with a few new characters that sound fascinating. This is one of the spin-offs on track for readers to devour and enjoy.

My Thoughts: This series is one of my Autobuys as I adore Mercy Thompson and the cast of characters that invade the books are diverse, interesting and the sort of series I can not put down.

My Thoughts: JD Robb/Nora Roberts is one of go to authors I reread repeatedly. Her books are so good, thrilling and full of characters that let me imagine being there with them. She is one of the few autobuys I have that no matter what is coming from the author, once I see it is up for preorder, I am there.

Eve Dallas is about to find her latest case is one filled with twists and turns that don’t make sense and will have her scrambling as she tries to discover the connection of who wanted Doctor Kent Abner dead.

When Kent Abner opens a package, he doesn’t anticipate dying within seconds as a toxic substance goes airborne and kills him. As Eve Dallas and her trusty partner, Det. Peabody try to figure out who would want to murder the friendly pediatrician, Eve has to sort through Kent’s past and when another dies in the same grisly manner, she is determined to find the madman behind it and stop another from dying.

GOLDEN IN DEATH is an amazing, enthralling story that will leave you breathless. Fifty books into this series and you wonder, what can the author do next to top the last book and J.D. Robb pulls out all the stops with this one. Her mystery of who the killer(s) were left me hanging until mid-way when I finally started seeing the clues as Eve, Peabody and the gang rustled them up as well. The story is full of twists and turns that just had me on the edge of my seat and I was glued to the pages till the very end since I wanted to see how this story would end.  GOLDEN IN DEATH is a true marvel as the author does a masterful job capturing the confusion Eve finds when she is assigned this baffling case. I just could not put this book down, even to go to sleep. It was that good.

What makes this series so beloved with her readers is the way the characters continue to grow with each book. Eve and Raork especially are connected on a soul level that comes across perfectly in GOLDEN IN DEATH. They have been through so much in the last several books that it is nice to see the connection between them grow stronger in this new book. Some may complain that not all of Eve’s friends, etc are involved in this fiftieth book but then we wouldn’t have a story that is so compelling and addicting. We got the core group (Eve, Roark, Peabody, McNabb, etc) involved with this one and it works just fine with the group that is needed by Eve. With an addition of a new secondary character or two, the reader can enjoy a story line that could be cut right from the pages in the future.

GOLDEN IN DEATH works because the author delivers a complex mystery to solve filled with compelling characters that literally step from the pages and into your living room. They are bold, well written and just downright amazing in my opinion. This is an author that knows how to craft a story that will leave you breathless. If you enjoy a high-octane story that will eave you eager for more than I urge you to run to grab GOLDEN IN DEATH. It’s truly a masterpiece and now I can’t see where this author goes next in the fifty-first book.

The Best Books I read in 2012.....

I got to admit, some stellar books came out this year from some of my favorite authors and some new ones I discovered.  This is only my top ten of books I discovered that stole my heart and made me want more from that author. I wish I could name them all but alas, I would be here till 2015 just listing them all. *smiles*

10: TA Webb's Second Chance-Heart rendering and delightful. No other words can describe it.

9: Andrew Grey's Love Comes Silently- a story so emotional, you can't help but fall in love with the story, the characters and this author's writing.

8: Sue Brown's Papa's Boy (Morning Report 3)- Her final novel in the Morning Report series delivers a story so wonderful yet heart felt, you can't help but wish for more after that last page is read.

7: D.N. Simmons' Unholy Alliance- the final book in a engrossing series. You couldn't help but want more after the last page is read.

6: Hank Edward's Venom Valley 1: Bounty-when paranormal meets western. Delightful and that cliffhanger ending made me race to read book two.

5: Lauren Dane's Laid Open- my three favorite characters are back in the Brown Siblings series in this novella and we see how they finally find a way to reconnect together in the sand, sun and passion that will steal your heart.

4: Silvia Violet's Hoofin' It to the Alter-Mystery, vampires, shifters and love scorching hot. What more can a reader want?

3: L. E. Harner & Lisa Worrall's Continental Divide- a story that leaves you breathless even as you scream at the nook/kindle/computer at the end.

2: J. D. Robb's Delusion in Death- A series going on it's thirty-fith book and it will captivate you till the very end.

and number one is.....

Laura Harner and TA Webb's Deep Blues Goodbye-powerful, delightful and a story you need more of.

There are plenty more but alas, I would be here till the end of the world or thereabouts. I can't wait to see what 2013 brings, reading wise.
