For romance author Brian Oliver, his life has been quite lonely after his lover/husband seven years before, Brian returns to his childhood home and finds something he never knew he was missing. Finding forgiveness with his sister and meeting a new guy, twenty-five year old intern, Joao de Silva who makes him feel a live again. Can Brian find a way to let his memories of his past love go so he can enjoy the promise of a new love with Joao?
Learning to Samba is a story of trying to find yourself after a devastating loss. Author Johnny Miles delivers an emotional story that literally leaves you aching for more when the last page is read. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first read the title. Was this a dancing book or something much more? This, I am pleased to say, was all that and a bag of chips. Author Johnny Miles delivers a story that is emotional, sinfully hot and full of a few twists that had me flipping the pages just to see what would happen next.
Brian and Joao are two of the most wonderful characters I came across in reading. Brian is older, lonely, looking for something after his loss of his lover, Joshua. Meeting Joao when he comes back home to NYC was something he never anticipated happening. He is like a man lost in a dark room and Joao is his light in that dark room. The connection alone between these two characters is off the charts and sexy as hell. I was afraid the computer would blaze after reading the few sex scenes between them. I got to admit, I was squirming in my seat at times, hoping to get relief. The few secondary characters kept the story flowing smoothly and at times, gave a little comic relief that I enjoyed.
My rating for Learning to Samba: 4.5 Stars
