Book Review- Catherine Coulter's Labyrinth

A car accident, a unique and confusing case and more stalk FBI agents Savich and Sherlock. Can they solve the case or will it get them in the crosshairs of a killer rumored to have psychic powers?

Agent Lacey Sherlock is on her way to downtown Washington when she is in an auto accident. All she remembers is a body hitting her windshield and then nothing but darkness. When she wakes, she finds out no one knows who the guy is except he is a CIA analyst that is still missing.

Meanwhile on another case, FBI agent Griffin Hammersmith rescues a woman claiming she was kidnapped and that the kidnapper killed three other people. But when Griffin investigates it, he finds the accused kidnapper is a member of a prominent family who claim to have psychic powers. When Griffin and the woman he rescued are arrested by the sheriff, he calls Savich for help and they have to work their way through the lies that keep piling up even as Savich tries to help Sherlock and deal with the case of the missing CIA analyst.

Wow is all I can say after reading the latest FBI novel from Catherine Coulter. What a great premise and storyline plus I loved returning to past characters again to see where they went on after their book. Ms. Coulter delivers a fast paced, action packed story that will keep you glued to the pages until the very last page is read. I know I was just blown away by all the twists this author through at the characters. I have no idea how this author keeps surprising her readers with unique and intriguing stories in her FBI series and at book twenty-three, you would think it would be stale and boring. That is NOT the case for LABYRINTH at all. It’s just as fresh and exciting as book one, The cove. Every FBI novel has two stories running through it that at times intersect or are separate from the Savich and Sherlock main storyline. What I love the most is how much fun these books are. They are so entertaining and enjoyable that I love rereading them periodically to see back on characters or past storylines.

This time we see Savich dealing with Sherlock being injured and that story line shows a few twists I won’t get into it here to not spoil it for you in case you haven’t read it yet. I love these two characters and love how Savich and Sherlock work so well together as well as raise a wonderful little boy named Sean. Those glimpses into their personal relationship and family are the calm of the case(s) they deal with and I love seeing those glimpses into their life together. The characters are wonderfully written and highly entertaining. I think in LABYRINTH, Griffin is a delight and his dealing with a family who thinks they have psychic powers was fun to see this by logical special agent deal with. The characters are really well written and wonderful to read. I couldn’t help but get into the story itself and root for them to succeed in solving both cases.

If you have never read one of this author’s FBI novels, you can start anywhere as each story is basically stand alone in the series but I highly recommend reading from the beginning with The Cove and moving from there to see how Savich and Sherlock got together and see how some of the other characters joined Savich’s FBI unit. If you like a mystery that sinks its teeth into you while you read, action that keeps you on the edge of your seat and more then run to grab LABYRINTH and settle in for one wild ride from start to finish. I can’t wait to see where the author goes in the next FBI series book next.

Release Day Review- The Devil's Triangle by Catherine Coulter & JT Ellison

When an obsession turns to murder then its time to call in the big guns at the FBI.

For FBI agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine, are adjusting to their new roles as head of the FBI’s new Covert Eyes division and setting up their team in their new offices when Nicholas receives a call from the elusive and master thief, the fox, telling him that a job went south and now she needs his and Mike’s help in solving who wants her dead. As Kitsune tells them about a recent weather event that may not be natural, Nicholas and the rest of the covert eyes team race to Italy to see if they can help Kitsune (the fox) and figure out just who wants to kill her and why. But as bullets start to fly, allies that they count on turn to enemies, Nicholas, Mike and the rest of the team find out that obsession can take over not just one person, but a whole family. Now the question is will their first case as a covert eyes team be their last one?

Wow, just wow. These two stellar authors come together to deliver a pulse pounding, wild action packed ride from start to finish in their latest installment in the acclaimed Brit in the FBI series and delivers a high octane ride that will keep the reader glued to the pages till the very end. With twists and turns that you don’t see coming to some intriguing characters that leap off the pages, these two authors give the reader an exciting and engrossing story that hit all my love buttons in all the right ways.

First the story was fast paced and kept my attention even after I had to put it down to go back to work. It was action packed and the few twists left me reeling even as I flipped the pages to see what would happen next. Second, the characters were just amazing. I love how these two authors are able to meld their writing styles together and into a cohesive story that featured intriguing and well written characters that fairly leap off the pages. With each astonishing action scene after another, the authors keep the reader centered on the characters and man, these characters really are in your face and totally entertaining. I love how close Nicholas and Mike have gotten and their connection comes across really well here. Add in their great team members as well as the bad guys who can really chill you to the bone in this book, well you get a sense that if this actually happened in real life, it would be cataclysmic and dangerous to the world.

THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE keeps the reader highly entertained, eager for more and I absolutely adored finding out more about Nicholas, Mike and everyone else on their team. Add in some scenes with some of Ms. Coulter’s FBI series characters and it adds in depth to the story at the right times. With an action packed story that will blow you away, the reader is taken on a ride of their life as the question is asked: Those who can control the weather, should they rule the world? The answer will be found in this latest in book by two masterful storytellers that will chill you to the bone. Now the question I have to ask these two authors-More please!
