Welcome author Thea Landen

Please give a warm welcome to author Thea Landen who joins me on the reading nook.

To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?
Sure thing! I just signed a contract for my first story with Decadent Publishing’s popular 1 Night Stand series, which I’m super excited about. I’m also working on the last couple chapters for my first lesbian erotic romance, which has been a challenge! Those pronouns will be the death of me, I swear.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?
I have a soft spot for all my books and stories, of course, but when I’m trying to be more objective, I think Disintegration is my strongest work. It’s got it all – detailed worldbuilding, a fast-paced plot, and *cough* the hottest sex I’ve ever written.

When you begin your stories, do you go with the flow, or go with an outline?
I try to at least have key points briefly outlined before I sit down and get started, but there have definitely been times when there have been some big blank spots to fill in later. For example, in the book I’m working on now, I always knew that our heroines would live happily ever after at the end and where they were going to do so; I just wasn’t sure how they were going to ultimately get there.

Sometimes, though, the opposite happens. I’m pretty sure that when I wrote Searching the Skies, I knew how it was going to end first, and then worked backwards!

Is it hard coming up with titles or characters names?
I’m a bit of a name nerd, so I’ve always loved naming characters. Alas, that love has not transferred over to titling works! Regular followers of my own blog will remember how I was pulling my hair out trying to come up with a title for Defying the Skies. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest when I say the book was written, I’d proofread the whole thing for the millionth time, and was all set to send it off to my editor, except it had no title. Thankfully, yet another brainstorming session with friends led me to stumble upon the perfect name for my sequel.

I’m not 100% positive, but I think the original Searching the Skies was also completely written before I had a title for it. Good thing I already know what Book 3 is going to be called!

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?
Ooh, that’s a really good question. In thinking it over, I think the vast majority of my heroes and heroines are able to love. HOWEVER (and that’s a big however), some of them need to be taught how to love AGAIN….

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.
I’m a Notary Public. Serious business, yo.

Coffee, tea or other drink to get you moving in the morning?

Coffee. Mmm, coffee. I try to limit myself to about 3-4 cups a week, but I looove coffee. The single-cup Keurig brewer is one of the greatest inventions of our time.

Defying Gravity
sequel to Searching the Skies
Double Dragon
Action/Adventure Erotic Romance

In addition to her distinguished career with the Terran military, Commander Geneva Greyson has finally achieved harmony in her personal life. Her renewed relationship with her mother has grown stronger and she’s settled into a comfortable arrangement with the two men she loves. Marcus confesses a dark fantasy to her while she’s on leave from duty—not only does he have feelings for her, he’s developing an attraction to Ash.  He begs Geneva not to reveal his secrets before Ash arrives to spend the weekend with them.

The officers return to their posts after a relaxing, decadent visit. They learn of a distressing event upon completing a week-long mission: A terrorist group has organized a strike and taken hostages in their efforts to attract attention to their cause. When Geneva discovers Marcus is listed among the missing, she disobeys her orders and sets out to join the reconnaissance team with Ash by her side. Will they find Marcus before it’s too late for him to affirm his desires?

Teaser Excerpt:

“Having fun?” Marcus called out from the doorway.
Geneva glanced to the side, her lips still wrapped around Ash’s shaft. “Just passing the time until you were finished with your phone call,” he said from underneath her.
Marcus crossed the room and stood in front of her, never breaking eye contact. She watched him pull his shirt off over his head and unzip his pants, all with Ash lodged firmly inside her mouth. His clothing fell away to reveal his own turgid erection, which he grasped with one hand. He leaned over the bed, supporting himself with the other hand, and brought his face close to hers.
Her lips parted, freeing her mouth. Their gazes met over the throbbing protrusion, and her heart raced in her chest. Her attention was torn away from the smoldering stare when Ash sucked down hard on her clit. She yelped, and Marcus chuckled. His mouth lingered near hers as if to deliver a kiss. Before he made contact with her, he winked and darted his tongue out, grazing Ash’s tip.
Before Geneva could react, he was gone. Ash continued to send sparks through her core, and she returned his cock to the steamy recesses of her mouth. A pair of hands grabbed her from behind and gently pulled backwards. Marcus teased at her slippery cunt with his erection, lubricating its bulb with her flowing juices. Gripping Ash’s thighs, she braced herself for the onslaught.
Marcus rammed into her. The protuberance between her lips prevented her moans from escaping into the night air. He plunged into her again and again with a merciless energy. The combination of his penetration and the applied pressure from below catapulted her every nerve into an elated frenzy. She abandoned Ash to grit her teeth and prepare for the oncoming orgasm.
Fingers fisted in her hair. “Now, now,” Marcus chided, steering her head back into place. “You need to finish what you started.”
