My Personal Review for Deep Blues Goodbye by LA Harner & TA Webb

When I saw two of my favorite people in the world teamed up to write a new book together, I was eagerly anticipating what they would come up with. Deep Blues Goodbye is the first book in the Altered States series and one that blew me away. Get ready for vampires, mystery and more.

My Rating for Deep Blues Goodbye-4.5 Stars and a recommended read

The world was stunned when they found out that vampires do exist especially since for Detective Travis Boudreaux, letting the world know-and your police captain-know you are a vampire, well let’s just say it wasn't all sunshine and roses. But now two years have passed and supernatural beings are the norm and the humans are on the side of civil rights for them until a killer decides that isn't acceptable. Now Travis has to partner up with Detective Sam Garrett, a man who hates all things supernatural, and work together to find a killer, one who kills vampires and humans alike. But for these two detectives, there are lessons to be learned in life and in death as they race against the clock to find a killer before he strikes again.

Deep Blues Goodbye is a story that draws you in, captures your imagination and doesn't let you go until the very last page is read. TA Webb & Laura (L. E.) Harner are a formidable writing duo and I was enthralled from the beginning as I tried to figure out plot twists and the ‘who done it’ surrounding the killer of vampires and humans. This story has its dark moments, humor and some major tension-sexual and otherwise-between the characters. This is a tough, gritty story-line and it’s about two characters who find themselves learning new lessons about life and death and that second chances are not always what they are made out to be.  These two create a story that is enjoyable and quite intriguing. I loved the characters and found myself falling for Det. Travis Boudreaux in a big way. He just had something about him that called to me.  The writing was tight, story flowed smoothly and the characters are very well-rounded. 

There is a prequel of sorts by LE Harner called Altered States if you care to read that before this one but it doesn't have to be read in order to enjoy Deep Blues Goodbye. I do have to say this had the potential to be a full length novel and would have loved to have seen this as a longer story but overall this worked just as well as a novella too. The authors make no bones that their werewolves and vampires like to kill things and the vampires do not sparkle (thank the goddess lol). I can not wait to see what happens next for this series and am eager to see what these two authors create next.

Deep Blues Goodbye is a dark, gritty tale that leaves you gasping for more as the last page is read. I do caution you, the ending alone will leave you stunned breathless. These two wonderful authors weave a spell around you as you read this new chapter in the Altered States series and the reader is completely captivated from start to finish. I just hope we won't have to wait long for book two.

My Personal Review for Continental Divide by Lisa Worrall & L.E. Harner

When I got to beta read this for the authors a few months before it was set to go live, I was blown away by it. The story. The characters. That simmering sexual tension between Remy and Jamie. *fans face* Get ready for one pulse pounding ride in Continental Divide.


My Rating for Continental Divide: 5 Stars and a Recommended Read

Detective Remington was thrust into the Missing Person unit as punishment from his Captain over a past case. But after looking into a case where six boys have gone missing, in different parts around Phoenix, Remy is determined to figure out what and who is causing this.

Inspector Jamie Mainwearing is deep in the case of six missing kids as well. Six kids-six months and he feels he is missing something. All were reported as runaways yet Jamie knew there was something wrong with this picture.

When Remy and Jamie are put on a secret task force and forced to go undercover, well sparks fly, passion blazes hotter than the sun and these two will have to figure out the case, their hearts and more before the danger behind these kidnappings comes knocking at their door.

The whole story as a whole is wonderful. Action packed, emotionally charged and oh my god, Remy and Jamie are to die for apart but when they are together on the pages, wow is all I can say. These two are smoldering apart but when they come together-pure combustion. These two authors created something so wonderful, compelling and delightful, I couldn’t tear myself away from it long enough to even go to sleep. I needed to see what would happen next for Remy, Jamie and the case they were working on. The writing flowed smoothly, the characters were very well defined and completely captured my heart and oh man, the sexual tension between these two, I was afraid my e-reader would explode from it all.

Remy is a detective, strong, tough yet he is broken inside. He refuses to get close to anyone yet the minute he meets Jamie....wow....all bets are off. Jamie is able to get under his skin, make his defenses crack open and the sparks that fly between these two *shakes fingers* smoking hot. Jamie was the opposite-spoiled rich boy determined to go against tradition and make his own way in the world. He grabs onto love and relationships with both hands and is determined that he will get a happily ever after...he just never anticipated Remy to drive him completely nuts. These two play off each other extremely well. The reader can get a sense of both men-inside and out-within the story and I couldn't get enough of them. The characters-event he bad guys-are well written, fairly brim with life and step off the pages and into your living room with ease. 

The subject matter is difficult to read (Child Sex Trafficking) yet the authors pull no punches in the story and show the evil it is in a way that had me flipping the pages just to see what happened next. The strength these two have together and apart while trying to chase down the bad guys, it made the story very real and I have to admit, has me reaching for it again.  I got to caution you, if you are looking for a HEA (happily ever after) type of story, you won’t find it here. There is a big cliffhanger at the end that had my jaw gaping open and then running to the authors’ websites hoping book two is coming out soon. 

I am eager to see what else these two come up with for my new favorite guys, Jamie and Remy. I urge you to run-don't walk to grab this one as fast as you can and make sure to block out a whole day to read it...I can guarantee that you won't want to put it down to find food, water or sleep.
