Book Spotlight~ Dana Pratola's Jett

Descended 1: JETT
Series name: Descended
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Publisher: Dana Pratola

When a reclusive businessman takes an interest in Haven’s artwork, she knows it’s an answer to prayer. But Jett Cestone is an enigma with a disconcerting connection to the young women in his employ. He’s by far the most unusual man she’s ever met.

Haven is the most interesting woman to ever cross Jett’s path. But she’s too naïve and pure to learn what goes on in his home. Too bad he wants her more than he’s wanted anyone or anything in his life.

Excerpt:

Haven’s heart stuttered. Her breath caught.
“I wanted to talk to you,” Jett said. “May I join you?”
Her mind spun. What was she supposed to say? “…sure.”
Rather than blipping in as she expected him to, he caught her off guard by walking into her small make-shift studio. Her heart flipped. Was it possible she’d forgotten how exquisite he was to look at?
“What, uh…what’s on your mind?” she asked.
He came to stand a foot from her. She felt his heat. Or was her blood pressure spiking? He remained silent a few seconds longer. When he finally spoke his voice was slow and thoughtful.
“I’m concerned that you have taken our last discussion as some form of rejection.”
Haven swallowed.
“I assure you that isn’t the case,” he said.
She licked her suddenly parched lips. He hadn’t spoken a word to her in…a long time. So, why now?
“I don’t understand what’s going on.”
Was he drunk? She leaned in slightly to smell his breath. It was warm and minty as usual.
He must’ve taken her gesture for an invitation, because he spoke his next words against her lips.
“We’re probably going to regret this…”
Haven’s eyes were already closed, her lips pursed in silent agreement.
As his mouth moved over hers, gliding, pressing, then easing, Haven had the strangest sensation the floor was no longer supporting her. She felt lighter, airier. A mild rush of air brushed the stray hairs around her ears. It made no sense and it ended before she could ponder it. Besides, how could she make sense of anything with Jett’s mouth on hers?
Jett eased back a fraction to kiss the corner of her mouth, slide his lips to the middle of her full bottom lip and take a light nip. “Your mouth drives me crazy,” he whispered, then repeated the attentions to her upper lip before continuing on to the opposite corner.
One of them groaned and Haven let her fingertips trail the corded muscles of his neck, finding their way to his shoulders and back up into his hair. Jett increased his pressure and skill on her mouth, coaxing her to open to his invasion. Haven’s lips parted, welcoming him, and countering with an exploration of her own.
His was the taste of a dark and secret world where he ruled. She followed headlong, her pulse marking off the steps, as his expert devotions sought to sever all ties with the world she knew, the world of boundaries and good sense. Surely this path could lead only to passion—his realm—and she was completely out of her element here.
Author Bio & Links:
I was born and raised in West Orange, New Jersey, home of the Thomas A. Edison factory and springboard of celebrities and astronauts alike. But, I’ll say the most important people ever to hail from West Orange are my three children, all of whom are destined to make wide, colorful splashes in this world. My husband and I share our home with two dogs, who pretty much run the place. I have no hobbies to speak of, unless you include writing. I don’t.
