Welcome Patricia Logan to my Lair Today

When I first met Patricia, I was struck at how down to earth she was and so nice. I love meeting new authors and then I read Warrior Nights, I was hooked on her work. So with out further adieu, please give a warm welcome to a wonderful friend and a talented author.

Why don't you start us off by telling us how you discovered/decided you wanted to become a writer?
Okay well, my mortgage career of over 20 years dried up in 2007 and I found myself suddenly out of work. I had been reading through my romance bookshelf for about 5 months and ran out of books. I decided after about 750 novels, “hey, maybe I should write one of these!” lol. So, I did and then I wrote another and I liked the second one a lot so I submitted it. We did submissions by mail in those days. It cost me $120 in postage just to send three chapters in to about 39 agents and pubs. I got back 39 rejections. By that time I had begun reading M/M, so I switched from traditional vanilla romance to M/M and that was it! I was hooked.

Do you have a favorite TV show you can't miss?
True Blood, Boardwalk and American Idol

What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?
I have terrible OCD and can’t remember anything because I am all over the map most of the time. I have to write first a synopsis, then a detailed scene by scene outline and then follow it religiously. Sometimes my characters walk off the outline and then I have to literally rewrite the outline to keep my head from exploding. I’m methodical to the extreme.

So what is your latest or upcoming book about? Give us all the details behind this masterpiece.
Well, the latest release is “Captive Lover”. That’s just hit number one at ARe in the Drama category three days after its release. Very fun. It’s a novel of intrigue and has my nastiest villain of all, a pedophile. He forces one of my heroes to kidnap the other and needless to say, my boys fall in love. Marcus, my pedophile constantly threatens poor Dylan that he’s going to rape his little brother if Connor’s family doesn’t pay his ransom. I hope you hate Marcus as much as you love Dylan and Connor.

What are your thoughts on love scenes in romance novels, do you find them difficult to write?
I have to be in the “zone” when I write a love scene. When I have a love scene coming up, I sit down and watch something sexy or go over to FB to look at naked hotties to get inspired. As far as how I like my love scenes, they always smoke off the page. With every book I write, they get more romantic and graphic. I’m just a romantic girl. lol

Who are some of your favorite authors, and if we were to visit your home, what books would we find on your bookshelf, end table, floor or e-reader?
I will not insult my fellow authors by picking a favorite. Too many are my friends. However, I will say I love GA Hauser, Sue Brown, Lisa Worrall, Chris Owen, Cameron Dane, AJ Lewellen, DJ Manley, Hank Edwards, Lee Brazil and in het, my all time favorites are Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, Lisa Kleypas and Galen Foley. I have over a thousand books on my book shelf and another 500 on Kindle.

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why?
Probably Ruark from Shanna by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Why? He was strong, sexy, gorgeous, kind, funny and honorable. I want one just like that… whoopee! Made to order heroes.

Could you tell us about any work-in-progress, current projects, what we can expect from you in the future?
Brag about myself, wow, that’s a hard one. Lol. I just finished and contracted  “A Very Good Year”. It’s the second book in the “Westburg” series behind “Captive Lover” and will be out late this year or early next. You will love these sexy cowboys more than anything. Oh and there’s a gorgeous, long haired, blond Italian in that one that is to die for. Next is “Chasing the Dream” which is my next release Sept. 17th. It is an anthology that I put together with four fine authors, GA Hauser, Sammy Jo Hunt, Lisa Worrall and Sue Brown. *Hint* Two of the five stories are ménage and two are paranormal and the other is GA’s and it’s got a smokin’ hot surprise for the fans of this famous author. Finally, I have a release in November called Gypsy Knight. It is set in 1291 and is a M/M/F ménage and let’s just say my knights give new meaning to “sword” fights. Lol

A biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be?
“She Loves to Laugh”

Have you ever found that you didn’t like your Hero or your Heroine? If so, what did you do to change that?
Yep, I wrote “Gypsy Knight” in 2007 as a M/F and when I went back to rewrite into a M/M/F, I found that I hated Bree, my heroine. She was an insipid, timid little brat. She became a strong, sexy siren when I got finished with her the second time around.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I read and hang with my little girl and listen to my older kids jokes. We laugh a lot around here. I also love to cook and I’m pretty good at it.

Is there a genre you haven’t done that you would like to explore in the future?
Not really. I will probably be with M/M forever. M/M/M/M would be fun. Or add a few more M’s to that. *smile*

W
hat was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
That I could actually finish one and that I was pretty good.

What is your favorite candy bar?
That’s a tough one. I don’t eat a lot of candy. Maybe a Heath Bar or a Snickers

When you looked in the mirror this morning, what was the first thing you thought?
This girlfriend’s bags are getting bigger. Lol

What is your favorite pizza?
Chicago deep dish with everything on it. Yum. There’s a place in Burbank, Ca. that makes it better than in Chicago.

What genres and authors would we find you reading when taking a break from your own writing?
M/M and all the authors I mentioned above.

If I was a first time reader of your books, which one would you recommend I start with and why?
My favorite is “Warrior Nights” because of the subject matter. But, it’s the third of the “Armadillo” series so you should read the other two first. In Warrior, my guys are former Marines, one of which was tortured in an Iraqi prison camp. You will find that a lot (most) of my heroes have past lives that no man should have had to endure. My stories are ones of triumph over evil in all its forms.

What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?
They are all thrillers and all have a terrifying enemy. I’ve dealt with bigots, Mafioso’s, serial killers and pedophiles. I love for you to hate the bad guys as much as you love the good guys.

Dylan Yates isn’t a bad person but he’s fallen in with the wrong guy. Marcus Tucker is a big, bad and very beautiful biker who runs a huge criminal empire. Dylan hooks up with Marcus for a night of all out hot sex and only too late realizes that Marcus is into young boys, kids in fact. Dylan backs out of their planned evening together after meeting up with one of Marcus’s very young lovers and fearful that Dylan will expose him for what he is, Marcus decides upon a plan to make sure that the handsome Dylan will not expose his dark side.

Marcus kidnaps Jared Yates, Dylan’s nine-year-old brother and threatens to “break him in” if Dylan doesn’t do exactly what Marcus wants. Dylan’s assignment is to kidnap and guard a man named Connor Black until Connor’s very wealthy family can pay to get him back. What Marcus doesn’t suspect, is the attraction that the two men feel for each other, the instant that they meet.

While in Dylan’s custody, Connor is at first afraid and then becomes angry. And who better to take out his rage upon than his kidnapper, Dylan. What surprises Connor is that Dylan, his big tough kidnapper refuses to fight back. Dylan is powerfully attracted to Connor but won’t allow himself to become attached to the man that he fears he will eventually be ordered to kill if he wants to get Jared back safe and sound.

Little by little Connor realizes that Dylan is reluctant in his task to guard him and he begins to trust Dylan. Even more powerful than trust, Connor finally realizes his own deep attraction to the beautiful man. Is it just Stockholm Syndrome or is it something more? As the two men are forced to live together in the cramped surroundings of Marcus’s hideout, the walls between them crack and finally fall. Dylan gives in to his longing and he and Connor become lovers. When Connor finds out the truth of who’s behind the kidnapping and the hold that Marcus has over Dylan, he is determined that they face the menace together.

Marcus has waited long enough. Day after day Connor and Dylan have begged Connor’s father to raise the funds needed. The problem is, Connor’s father is wealthy but his wealth is tied up in real estate that is impossible to liquidate in such a short period of time.

Faced with his worst nightmare and desperately in love with Connor, Dylan must now decide how to handle the situation and keep Connor alive while keeping Jared safe from Marcus’s clutches. Dylan goes to Connor with his dilemma and they decide that they must escape so that Jared isn’t harmed. Trying to get away from a man like Marcus Tucker and his armed guards isn’t an easy thing to do.
