Sir Gerard Fogg is in love with his King's only son, Prince Tristan Fysher. When a mysterious man named Malcolm murders Tristan in front of Gerard's eyes, all hell breaks loose...especially as Malcolm disappears and Gerard is sentenced to death for not protecting Tristan. His heart broken, his life in ruins, Gerard is given a last minute reprieve when the King's advisor frees him and tells him where Malcolm went.
With revenge on his mind, Gerard finds himself transported to year 2006 and find the world as they know it completely changed. The castle he used to roam is crumbling into dust and are surprised to find a researcher named Jon Calder there. When Gerard is attracted to Jon, he finds that Jon houses the spirit of Tristan. Love blooms between the two again even as Malcolm finds his way toward them. Will Gerard lose Jon the same way he lost Tristan? Can he stop the madman, Malcolm, before he loses the one person who means the world to him: Jon?
I don't know about you, but when I read Destiny's Bastard, all I heard was the rolling burr of Gerard Butler. *swoons* Gerard Fogg is a man who loves in secret and does his duty by the King by protecting the prince. The love between Tristan and Gerard is sexy, hot as hell and so sweet I was afraid to breathe the entire time they were together on the pages. The characters were very well written. You could see the connection between Gerard and Tristan fromt eh very begining and I was crying when Gerard lost Tristan in such a heinous way. The secondary characters are quite enjoyable and keep the story moving smoothly.
Destiny's Bastard is a story you cannot put down...even to eat or sleep. I HAD to find out if Gerard would take care of the evil Malcolm. What I really loved about this story was the seamless transition from the historical time period to the 21st century. This author does a wonderful job in conveying the characters disbelief as they travel through time and enter a time where everything they know is gone or crumbling into dust. The writing was tight, characters multi-dimensional and the story moved at a nice even pace that you didn’t feel like you were rushing through it.
Hank Edwards is a talented author who is wonderful storyteller and completely captivates the reader. If you are looking for the perfect lazy summer day book, then grab this time travel/paranormal MM story and get ready for an afternoon of mystery, romance and sizzling passion. I do recommend keeping a bucket of ice or your SO nearby to help cool you off. You will definitely need it. :)
This is the first book I read of Hank Edwards and it is not going to be the last. I have a new author to explore and hope you can explore with me.
My rating for Destiny's Bastard: 5 Stars
