Author Interview:
Tell us about your latest book, who are the
main character(s) and what can we expect when we pick it up?
About Defying Evil:
He’s the son of a serial
killer.
She’s his father’s only
surviving victim.
He’s obsessed with her.
She’s frightened of him.
But before it’s all over
they’ll need each other to survive.
Expect and edge of your
seat, roller-coaster ride of darkness and danger and love!
Fire off five words to describe your
book.
Suspenseful. Gripping.
Dark. Intense. Bloody.
Do you come up with the hook
first, or do you create characters first and then dig through until you find a
hook?
Usually,
I come up with the characters first. But the premise of a serial killer’s son
falling in love with his father’s only surviving victim just air dropped into
my head one day. I knew I had to write a novel about that. Defying Evil was
born.
Which of your
characters would you want to share a campfire with, and why?
This might sound
weird, but I’d love to get to know Liz a bit more. In the novel she’s a
psychiatric nurse in mental hospital. She’s seen it all and done it all. As a
mental health counselor in my day job, I would love hearing the stories she has
to tell and to learn from the wisdom of her experience.
Lol… I make it sound
like she’s a real person. I guess to me she kinda is real!
Tell us about
what you are reading at the moment or anticipate reading in the future?
I’m in between books now,
but I just finished Lisa Regan’s My Child is Missing (Detective Josie Quinn Book
18). I don’t know what spell Lisa has cast over these books, but I’m addicted
to this series.
What
led you to becoming an author?
Being a reader.
When I very first learned to read, I would tell my
teacher that books didn’t end the way I thought they should, and she suggested
I become and author. So here I am! Writing what I like to read. I like dark
stuff.
What’s next for you, do you
have any exciting projects coming up? Are you writing another book?
I’m working on a thriller series with romantic elements. It’s about a female podcaster telling the story of paperboy who went missing twenty years ago. She thinks the case is cold. But there are powerful people who don’t want the story told.
