Interview with Abbie Roads:
If you could describe this book in
10 words or less, how would you describe it?
Like an episode of Criminal Minds meets a love story.
Who is the character you had the
most fun writing?
I adore the Medicine Woman’s story. Fearless and Bear have been a thread woven through all the books, but I loved being able to tell The Medicine Woman’s story in this book. Her tragic tale of lost love just tugged my heart strings.
How long did it take you to write Shattered Dreams? Is that the usual time it takes for your books?
Shattered Dreams was super hard for
me to write. I wrote it when I was stressed out, burned out, and contemplating
quitting writing all together. Shattered Dreams probably took me a year and
half to write because I can’t write when I’m stressed. The words don’t flow and
forcing them is actually kinda painful.
A year seems to be my average, but I wrote Defying Evil in nine months.
If you could recommend a song to
listen to while reading your book, what would you suggest?
One song that is perfect for Shattered Dreams is Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara. It’s perfect for Helena and what she’s been through.
What's your go-to snack while
writing? Do you have a go-to beverage, as well?
I never really thought about it until you asked, but I don’t snack while I write. Which is probably a good thing. My go-to beverages are pretty boring... Mostly water. And sometimes decaf coffee with cream. I’m a decaf girl. I know I’m weird.
What are your current favorites? TV
Show, Movie, and Book!
TV Show: I’ve been binge-watching
S.W.A.T. lately. Shemar Moore... I just love him.
Movie: My all-time favorite movie
that I’ve seen more times than I can count and have practically every word
memorized is The Last of the Mohicans. It’s an old one, but I’m a sucker for
the love story and Daniel Day-Lewis is to die for!
Book: This one isn’t for everyone. There
are trigger warnings all over it. But I love The Golden Dynasty by Kristen
Ashley. I’ve read it tons of times and listened to the audio book a whole bunch
too. And I still get mad and still cry at the same spots.
Describe yourself in three words.
Introvert.
Curious.
Nature-lover.
What can we expect next from you?
Defying Evil is coming on October 17th.
It’s book 1 in the Blood is Thicker Than Series.
He’s the son of a serial killer.
She’s
his father’s only surviving victim.
He’s obsessed with her.
She’s frightened of him.
But before it’s all over, they’ll
need each other to survive.
I see you love inspirational quotes,
what is one you could leave our readers with today?
This is one of my favorites: You can
be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world and there’s still going to be
somebody who hates peaches by Dita Von Teese.
