Kerris Fellwater is back in Whisper Hollow after her grandmother, the town spirit shaman, dies. Now she must navigate a town she escaped from years before as well as try to find her place as the new spirit shaman. But when she finds a trunk in the attic that causes more questions than answers to the disappearance of her mother years before, Kerris works to find out what happened all those years before to her mother and in the process unearths a darkness determined to take Whisper Hollow to the bones as an enemy comes after Kerris and her allies and friends.

AUTUMN THORNS is a wonderful introduction to this author’s writing and a perfect read on a cold winter night. With amazing characters and a wonderful lush setting, we are taken into a world where spirits roam, creatures haunt the woods that are nightmares beyond belief and the Crow Man comes winging by. I loved reading Autumn Thorns again as this is the second edition indie published by the author this time, that has the story a bit tighter and more compelling, in my opinion, from the first time it was published. The story just flows so smoothly, and I loved all the characters we get introduced to, from Kerris to her shapeshifter lover/neighbor, Bryan and other friends/allies. The author delivers such an amazing story that had me glued to the pages till the very end.  This is an author who weaves a spell around her readers the moment they open one of her books. She is an expert storyteller who knows how to intrigue the reader, entice them and keep their attention as they flip the pages to see what happens next. The author’s world building also just blows my mind and the multi-dimensional characters that stole my heart right from the beginning. This is an author who knows how to tell a story that dark, deadly and full of things that go bump in the night.

Meet Kerris Feltwater, a spirit shaman who escaped Whisper Hollow years before and only returns when she finds out her grandmother passed away and the town needs her. As she gets her bearings in a town so familiar yet different, she finds mysteries abound and danger lurking just in the shadows. I really enjoyed Kerris. She was fun, kick-ass and determined. I also enjoyed how independent she was and could take care of herself. That made me root answers she needed as well as prevail as shadows loomed over her. The author does an amazing job in capturing all the characters personalities and I really enjoyed meeting them in this first book of the Whisper Hollows series.

AUTUMN THORNS is an action-packed story that will leave you breathless from start to finish. With the right amount of romance, action and mystery, the readers get treated to a story that will leave you wanting more after the last page is read. I can not wait to see where the author goes next in this series with Shadow Silence (book 2) and The Phantom Queen (book 3) and hope she continues the adventures in Whisper Hollow in the coming year.

I was given an Advance Reader Copy as a gift from author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
