When I'm writing the first draft of a story, I love to
listen to music. The music has to fit the tone of the book, or in the case of
my latest release, it needs to fit the time period, for me to listen to it
while writing.
This book is set during 1967 and 1968. There was a lot of
good music back then, songs that I've always loved but never really considered
the era they came from. Writing the story and doing research for it made me
look at music from the time period in a different way. I wasn't alive during
those years, but I spoke to people who lived during that era, and I learned a
lot, not only about historical facts, but about how people felt about and
reacted to events during that time.
In this post, I'd like to share my top ten favorite songs
that were popular during 1967 and 1968.
1. Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison
2. Born to Be Wild - Steppenwolf
3. Daydream believer - The Monkeys
4. Delilah - Tom Jones
5. Do You Know the Way to San Jose - Dionne Warwick
6. Girl, You'll be a Woman Soon - Neil Diamond
7. I Heard It Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
8. The Letter - The Box Tops
9. Love Child - The Supremes
10. To Sir With Love - Lulu
Do you enjoy listening to old music? What are some of
your favorite old songs?

Angela's Kiss
(Contemporary
Romance, Military Romance)
Christmas
Eve, 1967. Two strangers united by mutual loss find the love they’ve been
searching for.
After
surviving captivity in a Vietnam prison camp, Master Sergeant Abraham Marley
Fiske longs more than ever for a loving family life, but he doesn’t believe
it’s in his future. Then a promise to a deceased friend sends him to the woman
who can make his dream come true.
Since
her brother was killed in Vietnam, Angela Franco has been caring for her young
niece. She never expected to fall in love with her brother’s best friend, but
when she meets Abe, she can’t ignore her feelings for him. Having lost her
brother, will she now risk her heart by planning a future with Abe?
Note:
Angela's Kiss was previously published as His Sister's Kiss. This is a
re-edited version and contains additional scenes.
Excerpt:
On New Year’s Eve, Abe
arrived at Angela’s shortly after her last student of the day left her house.
“I’m sorry I’m not quite
ready to go yet,” Angela said after greeting him with a hug and kiss. “Make
yourself comfortable while I get dressed.”
She hurried upstairs and
changed into a lavender dress. After fixing her hair and makeup, she joined Abe
on the couch where he was watching television.
“Wow. You’re a stunner,”
he said, rising to his feet to stare at her.
His words and the
expression in his eyes warmed Angela in a way she’d never felt before.
“Thank you, Abe. I’ll
just be a minute. I have to get the cupcakes I baked, and then we can leave.”
Angela stepped into the
kitchen. She had just finished covering the tray of chocolate cupcakes when Abe
slid his arms around her from behind.
