Get Under the Covers with Fiona McGier

Please give a warm welcome to Raul Ricardo Rodriguez, more well-known as the famous action movie star Raul Roderick from For The Love of His Life by Fiona McGier today as we sit down and see what makes him tick.

Q: So tell us about yourself. What got you in the crosshairs for your author?
She wanted to write about someone who wasn't in control of his life, even though he thought he was; then he gets thrown into a beautiful natural area where people live their lives honestly, without pretending to be anything other than who they are.  Since I'm an actor, and grew up lonely with my only relative being my Mom, I'm not used to relating to anyone as myself.  I can get confused when I have to think up my own words to say.  I'm getting better at it, though...thanks to my lovely wife and the warm welcome I've gotten from her entire family.

Q: What was it that drew you to your mate?
Have you seen her?  (Smiles in happy memory before refocusing on the question).  I mean, obviously she's gorgeous, with long blonde hair and light blue eyes, and curves that make my mouth water no matter how long we've been together.  She can catch, gut and have you eating a fish in the time it takes for me to say all of that.  And she bakes the very best pies in the world!  But most of all, she has a very large heart...she has to, because I'm a very needy man.  She lives in my soul and makes me feel whole, and let me into her life, as well as her body, for which I'll forever be grateful.

Q: A little naughty fun, where was the wildest place you seduced your partner?
I'm going to be literal here, so the wildest place was actually out in the wilderness.  There had been a misunderstanding and she thought I had cheated on her, so she was camping in her private place to begin to heal.  I made her cousin believe me that I would never hurt the love of my life, and he rowed with me out to the cove that she hides her canoe in to escape...which I'd never have found by myself.  I got a lost a few times, because when she took me there, I'd been more interested in watching her ass move in her tight jeans, than paying attention to the trail markers.  But I found her campsite and managed to convince her that my love was real...that I wasn't acting. (smiles in memory, shifting around in his seat) Phew!  That was one hot afternoon, let me tell you!

Q: Boxers, briefs or Commando on a man?
(Grins) I never wear anything under my pants.

Q: If your partner wants to seduce you, what's one sure-fire trick she can play?
(Chuckles) She doesn't need to do anything other than indicate a tiny bit of interest!  I'm crazy for my Nica, and multiple times a day is still not enough to let her know what she means to me!  Of course, I'd never made love in the great outdoors under the stars, without even a tent, before I met her.  So inviting me to get naked with her outdoors always works!

Q: What is the one place on your partner's body that you know will drive her wild-in and out of bed?
(His lips twitch with amusement, with one eyebrow raised.) Do you mean besides her love button?  Her heart is actually the sexiest part of her body to me.  Knowing that she loves me gives me the confidence to accept myself, despite all of my flaws. When I tell her things like that she gets this look in her eyes that welcomes me into whatever part of her I want to enter at that point...if we're in public, it might be her mind, since we're accumulating shared memories that belong only to us. If we have privacy, she'll be nude in a heartbeat, and bent over the nearest piece of furniture, since I love to fondle her butt while I sink myself into her...(looks around)  I probably shouldn't be saying things like that to will embarrass her.  She's not used to being in the public eye like I am.

Q: What was one of the most embarrassing things your author did to you in For The Love of His Life?
I'm really embarrassed about being a drug addict.  For years I thought coke was just a fun drug to party with, and that I didn't really need it, despite the mass quantities I would consume.  After all, that song about it is so cool, right?  But when I had to face that it almost cost me the love of the most wonderful woman in the world, I had to admit my addiction and swear off of it for the rest of my life.  It's not always easy, but my woman is worth more to me than any drug.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?
If you get a chance, take a vacation up to the BWCA, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in upper Minnesota.  You'll find us just north of Grand Marais, the quaint town that leads you to the Gunflint Trail.  There are lodgings, resorts and campsites to suit everyone's tastes.  And you never know who might be squeezing the produce next to you at the grocery store, or lying next to you on the beaches!

Can a sexy Hispanic action movie star find himself in the BWCA of upper Minnesota? Will the local woman he grows to love believe someone who "lies for a living"?

When a famous action star needs to clean-up for a major role that even he doubts he can deliver, the director sends him up to a resort owned by his grandmother in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of upper Minnesota, to learn to commune with nature.  His guide is Veronica, the director's cousin, a tall, athletic woman who has the relaxed, sensible nature of someone who knows herself well.  Raul's initial clumsy attempt to seduce her makes her he calls her fat.  Is there any hope that their relationship will progress beyond its rocky start? And can Raul overcome his partying nature to discover what is really important in life?

Excerpt: PG-rated--The famous movie actor tries to seduce the local gal after being given some rules he has to follow while living at her Grandmother's resort in a cabin.

She stopped and leaned back against the wall to point at the lake.
"See how pretty the sun looks when it bounces off the...hey!  What are you doing?"
Raul had caught up to her then done what he always did...tried to kiss the pretty girl.  Only this pretty girl turned her head then moved so that he ended up hitting his face on the wall.  He looked at her, aggrieved.
"I was trying to kiss you.  What else?"
He was taken aback.  "Uh, because you're pretty?  And because I figured that's why you invited me out here away from that nagging old bag..."
Veronica's hand shot out and slapped him across the face.
"What was that for?"  He rubbed the sore spot that proved it wasn't just her legs that were in good shape.
She advanced on him, her eyes narrowed, "Don't you ever call my grandmother an old bag again!  Don't you even think it!  You are a conceited pompous jerk with an ego the size of an elephant!  Though I can't for the life of me see what you are so proud of...a string of lousy movies that consisted of you taking off your shirt early and often?  Dialogue that sounded like it was written by a love-struck twelve-year-old?  I have no idea what Jared sees in you, but whatever it is, it must be buried pretty deep!"
He retaliated, "Until you got all high and mighty I was willing to overlook the fact that you look like you eat more of your own pie than you should, and you people up here obviously have no idea that there might be any benefit to using makeup.  I was willing to lower my standards to throw you a bone to be exact.  Who knows if you'll ever get another chance to take a famous movie star into your bed?  But if you're going to be all nasty and stuff, then forget it."
Veronica giggled, which grew to guffawing and continued until there were tears in her eyes.  He stared at her, his anger beginning to fade as her infectious laughter made him smile.
"What's so funny?"  He demanded when she stopped for a breath.
"You!  You actually thought I wanted you to kiss me?  You really thought I was so hard up to get laid that I'd even consider a spoiled, out-of-shape, drunken drug-addict like you?"
     He stopped smiling.

Hey Dawn, thanks for letting my character talk about himself here for a while. Actors do love to do that, even more than most men...right? And he'd love if readers leave comments letting him know you still love him, despite his flaws. Actors can be so temperamental and needy! ;-D

What a wonderful interview. Raul is a real man, a well-rounded man who's had his problems in life but has overcome them. I love the way he worships his lady. Sounds like a book I definitely want to read.

*sigh* Raul you are the best EVER! The Oscar scenes were heartbreaking at best, you big lug. But I just had to believe that your Nica would love you no matter what. *double sigh*

Can I have your autograph?
