Bl;og Tour Stop with Liia Ann White/Contest

Welcome to my Reading Nook, Liia. Please make yourself at home and let my cabana boys/girls get you a drink.

Comfortable? Wonderful. Now let’s get started.

Tell us about your favorite character from your books.
Adora from Dark Waters is definitely my favourite character. She’s tough, sarcastic, vulnerable and powerful all wrapped in a gorgeous package. Writing her different layers was a fun challenge. Reading her was even more fun.

Tell us about your current/upcoming release. What inspired this story?
I’d been wanting to write a fantasy romance for a while. I’d had a story running around in my mind for months but didn’t have a heroine. Adora randomly popped into my head one night in a dream and she just fit the story I had of an unhappy warrior princess wanting to escape her fate to rule a kingdom she didn’t want. And of course, meeting her smoking hot tough as iron assassin.

When in the day/night do you write? How long per day?
Well, I currently don’t get to spend enough time writing. A couple of hours each nice if I’m lucky. But after I tend the RT Convention this year, I’ll be working part time again so I’ll have two days a week to write non stop on top of the nights.

What is the hardest part of writing your books?
Not finding enough hours in the days and weeks to write them! Haha
Seriously, if I could, I’d spend hour after hour writing, but unfortunately I have two day jobs, animals to look after, exercise to do and a social life to pretend to have.

What does your family think of your writing career?
My family is incredibly supportive. I don’t think they quite realize the toll writing for hours on end can take, but they know when to bug me and when not to. They’ve always been supportive no matter what I do, so I’ve never been surprised by it J
They give my cards out, tell their customers and patients who I am and what I do and yeah, it makes a girl feel good about herself hehe

What do you think makes a good story?
In my opinion, if it’s well written, fast paced but doesn’t skip any necessary details and always has an interesting hero or heroine. For me, it doesn’t matter what the genre is, if it’s well written I’ll enjoy it. If there’s a great story but it’s poorly written, I won’t read it, I can’t enjoy it.

Plotter or Pantser? Why?
I call myself a plonster. I generally write down a brief synopsis of the story but once I start writing characters decide to make their own fates.

How do you develop your plots and your characters? Do you use any set formula?
As I said before, I tend to dream my characters or their plots. If I have one dream more than once I take it as a hint from my Muse and write it down. From there I can organize a basic plot, which I write down, create secondary characters that are needed and go from there. It’s worked for me so far, so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it J

What book are you reading now? Any favorite authors/books you want to do a shout out for?
I’m currently reading Wolf’s Tender by Gem Sivad and Taking Over Me by Sara Brookes. Both of them are friends and I love everything they write. I’d actually like to do a shout out to my four best friends who just happen to be brilliant authors as well – Sara Brookes, Lisa Fox, Kacey Hammell and my lovely beautiful awesome twin Emily Cale.

These four ladies have helped me so much, not only with my writing, but personally (especially over the last year) and I have never read anything of theirs that I didn’t love. Seriously, if I could have half of their talent I’d be a happy woman.

What do you do to unwind and relax?
I hang out with my dogs. I’m not called the dog lady for nothing! I have a lounger I set up out the back, either during the day or at night, we go and relax together, I sometimes read, sometimes I chase them around and play, throw the ball etc.

OR I play video games. Halo, Red Dead Redemption, GTA, the Family Guy game and Mincraft are my favourites. And I always play with my dogs by my side. They’re not only writing buddies, they’re geek out buddies too hehe

Morning Person or Night Person?
Definitely night. Always been a night owl – that was even a nickname for a while J

Coffee, tea or other drink to get you moving in the morning?
Nothing. Sometimes I have a Berroca (which I’m not sure if you guys have in the US) to wake me up, it’s full of vitamins and minerals and gives you an energy boost unlike another; which actually lasts all day.

I do drink tea sometimes at night in winter to warm me up before bed. And I have iced coffee, latte frappes and all sorts of cold coffee drinks during the day sometimes.

What is coming up from you in 2013? Anything you want to tease us with?
I haven’t got any new releases coming up yet, but I will have the follow up to Dark Waters coming up soon.

I will also be attending the RT Convention in May this year where I’ll be doing my first signing AND giving away a lot of swag. Some very unique swag too, I must say J

Anything else you want to add?
I love hearing from readers, so feel free to hit me up on Twitter, Facebook, my website or email anytime! J

Dark Waters by Liia Ann White

Randor is a Fae assassin. As the most feared military officer in the Faery Realm, he only got out by striking a deal with the late King to become an assassin for hire. Something he was only able to do because of his place as adopted family member. When he’s ordered to kidnap the Unseelie Faery Princess and deliver her to the Seelie Queen, he doesn’t think twice, until he sees his target. Adora. Unseelie Princess. Most beautiful being in existence and feared witch warrior and his soul mate. Disobeying orders is something he’s never done before. But when he brings her into the Human Realm; his home, he has no regrets. Until his Elvish friend, Kiel, disapproves and an unexpected attack raises questions about his loyalties. The only way that could have happened was if Kiel tipped off the Queen's witch, Maleficent.

Adora was fearless, powerful and intensely unhappy. Until she was kidnapped by a mysterious stranger, who happens to be her half human, half Seelie soul mate. After being attacked, Adora, fearing she'd lose Randor, admits her feelings for her soul mate. The two of them just need to find a way they can survive together - away from the feuding kingdoms. Entering the Seelie castle, under a pretense of needing the witch's help to bind Adora's immense power, they ask for Maleficent, whom they plan to eliminate so she can no longer track them.

When all hell breaks loose, they're involved in a fight including the witch, Kiel and the Queen. A fight that not all of them will survive.

Teaser Excerpt:

As the most successful faery assassin in the realm, Randor wasn’t surprised when the Unseelie queen ordered him to kidnap a member of the Seelie royal family. The two kingdoms had been at war for over ten decades. It began because of a simple territory dispute. Now, each just wanted to one up the other.

He left the Unseelie army to stay out of the fight he deemed “ridiculous and unnecessary.” Unfortunately he was labelled as a traitor after that. He struck a deal with the late Unseelie king to leave the faery realm so he could lead an anonymous life. The one condition was that he work as an assassin. After all, he’d been the most successful officer in the Unseelie army, rising to the highest ranks before his fortieth year, a feat that took most eighty-plus years to accomplish.

Very little surprised him anymore. He’d always thought he was immune to the emotion—until he saw his target.

Princess Adora. She was officially the most beautiful creature he’d ever seen. Long, wavy blonde hair touched the small of her back and was highlighted with every imaginable colour. Her tall, curvy body was covered in a tight top, pants, and boots. She dressed like a warrior rather than royalty. For the first time in his life, he hesitated to approach a target. In two silent steps, he stood behind her, alert and ready. The moment he called for the air, the ability he used to knock out his victims, a wave of power washed over him. With wide eyes, he regarded the princess and reached for his sword.
