March 2013 Submission Calls for Breathless Press
Anthologies are a great way to break into the publishing world. They are also a fabulous way of exposing yourself to readers who might never have picked you up otherwise. Here are the anthologies currently open at Breathless Press!
Ravaged Anthology: Must have shifters of some kind, 10k words or less, heat rating of at least 3 (Explicit love scenes with graphic or strong language.). Open February 1, 2013 Closes July 30, 2013
Serviced Anthology (m/m): Must be military/army/navy/air force/police/paramedic/
Our Special Calls are so much fun. They are not an anthology. Each story is a stand-alone with its own cover and release date. We're really excited to our announce our newest Special Call:
October 2013 is Dead Man Walking month. We want all your horrific (but sexy) stories surrounding Zombies. Whether your hero/heroine is part of the walking dead, or is running from the brain munching packs, we want to see your stories! Stories must be greater than 10k words and a heat rating of at least 2 (Monogamous couples. Infrequent loves scenes with no graphic language.). Submissions open January 1st and close June 30th 2013.
December 2013 is Holiday Cheer month. We are looking for stories that will be sure to melt the coldest of nights. Stories must be greater than 10k and a heat rating of at least 2 (Monogamous couples. Infrequent loves scenes with no graphic language.). Submissions open March 1st and close July 31st 2013.
As always, we also have a vast array of lines to choose from. Right now, we are actively seeking submissions for all of our lines, but there are a few kinds we'd love to see subs for. When submitting, please follow our guidelines listed on our website. Submissions must be 10k+ and can be any heat level (unless otherwise stated.
Romance: Suspense / Comedy / Chick-lit/ Sweet Romance (Heat rating: Sweet Confections) The managing editor had the following to say about this line: "I am really craving small towns and natural disaster stories that end up in romance."
Naughty Nursery Rhymes: These fun, sexy stories can be based off of lines from a favorite childhood nursery rhyme or a retelling of a fairytale. Even if the story has already been done, we still want to see your version of it. Remember, no two authors have the same voice, and whether it be Red Riding Hood or Mother Goose, we want to hear her tale your way.
Reflections Line: This non-fiction line is the only one exempt from having to revolve around romance. We are currently interested and seeking the following:
* Rising above abuse
* How you made the choice to live an alternate lifestyle (BDSM, GBLT, polygamy, etc is highly sought after at this time)
* How a "handicap" or "disability" entered your life or affects your life
* Culture clash stories (Perhaps a comical recounting of how moving to a new area brought about quite a few new experiences or overcoming the older generations expectancy to achieve a lifestyle you desire)
