Patience Series, Book 1
Contemporary Romance (M/F)

Anna Kelly had no intention of returning to her hometown of Patience, Tennessee. At eighteen, feeling powerless from an abusive childhood and heartbroken from her high school sweetheart, she needed to put distance between her and the small town. Now, eleven years later she's invited to her best friend's wedding and has no other choice but to return. Though she feels much stronger the second time around, nothing can prepare her for when she sees her ex again.

After a baseball injury, Jake limped back into Patience, damaged and angry. Throwing himself into remodeling Anna's childhood home has given him purpose again. He is just getting his life back together. He can't risk sending it all back to hell again, but the woman who broke his heart has whipped back into town...and she wants her house back. In hopes of reminding Anna of what she ran away from all those years ago he makes her an offer she can’t refuse—three dates, that have Anna rethinking Patience...and the life she was supposed to have with Jake.

Anna walked back into the living room fifteen minutes later. His head was hung low, over his third cup of coffee. He snapped his head up as soon as he heard her patter her way into the room.
“Hey…what the hell?”
She stood there in front of him butt-naked with her damp hair brushed back. Her face was rid of tears and mascara, allowing him to see her beautiful features. Her breasts were erect, making him become the same. Taking a ragged breath, he let his gaze go lower. She was curvier than he remembered, but it made her look like a normal woman—just like he liked them.
Anna wrapped her arms around her mid-section and dipped her chin toward the floor. Jake instinctively grabbed the blanket still lying on floor and hurried to his feet, wrapping the fabric around her.
“I’m-m n-not,” she stammered, “what you’re used to?”
“No, you’re not.” And that was the God’s honest truth. She was in every way not what he was used to. Her body was magnificent.
“How dare you?” She wiped a few tears from her cheek. “How humiliating. You sure know how to let a girl down easy.” Then she quickly turned away from him.
He caught her by the shoulder, yanking her around. It was important to him that he looked her in the eye when he said this, “Anna, I didn’t mean that in a bad way. You were right when you said you’re not what I’m used to. You are more—you’re beautiful.”
“Why aren’t you excited to see me, then? I thought this is what you wanted?”
“Honey, I am more than excited to see you—just look down.” Her face flushed. “That’s what you do to me every time I see you, touch you…and even think about you. This,” he pointed between him and her, “is not what I wanted for us. At least not tonight. I want to take care of you. Not take you to bed.”
“Oh. I just thought—” He cut her off by giving her a soft kiss on the lips. It was over before it started, but had the same effect as if he’d thrown her down on the floor and explored every part of her mouth.
“That is the most I had planned for us tonight. When we do more, it won’t be because you are drunk, feeling brave, and trying to be someone you’re not. It will be because you want me as much as I want you. Got it?”
“Got it.”

About the Author:

Jennifer has always been an avid reader, but it wasn’t until she became a stay-at-home mom did she start to read romance. Her passion of reading romance turned into another passion she had as a child—writing. One late night of writing about sexy heroes and strong-willed heroines turned into two nights, until seven months later she had written her first novel.

She lives in a small town with her supportive husband (whose dream is to be on the cover of one of her books), her daughter, and two dogs who can’t seem to get along. If she is not writing, you can find her reading, hanging out with her family, or cheering on the New York Yankees.
