REALITY BITES
Reality bites, and for most, it bites hardest as we're coming of age. Locked in an increasingly unfamiliar body, pressured by parents and peers alike to transform and conform, and buried under a mounting heap of terrifying responsibilities, even teens who have it "easy" occasionally wonder whether the privileges and freedoms of adulthood they've been eagerly anticipating for so long are really going to be worth enduring the effort of the metamorphosis. And for some, it's even harder than that. Prizm Books is opening its "Reality Bites" line to share stories of teens resisting, enduring, or simply coming to terms with the sorts of situations that real teens are faced with every day, such as: teen pregnancy, drug abuse, eating disorders, bullying, abusive parents, and relationship difficulties of all sorts. We're looking for stories featuring teen or young adult characters of any gender or sexual orientation, set in the real, contemporary world and providing positive, upbeat endings (even if those outcomes take years to achieve).
