Welcome to my Reading Nook, Victoria Blisse.
Please make yourself at home and let my cabana boys/girls get you a drink.
Comfortable? Wonderful. Now let’s get started.
What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly
by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?
Mostly it’s pants, my process, not the outcome! I do some planning
on longer works and ones in a series but that tends to be a few lines of
general plot and really isn’t very detailed at all.
What did you do before you were a writer? Do you
write full time?
I am a full time mother and wife and have been for a long time.
This doesn’t mean I write full time as some might think, though it does allow
me to be more flexible in my writing times than someone who has to go to work
9-5. I was a Nursery Nurse for a bit. I
love children and I volunteer at my daughter’s school reading 1-1 with those
who need a little extra help and I love it. It’s so rewarding.
If you were going to cast the hero(s) of your
book, what actor would get the part?
Oh, bugger. I always have a hard time answering these questions
because I don’t really think of my characters as actors. Although thinking of
incredibly hot guys who could pull of cool, calm and dominant I’ve decided on
Ryan Reynolds. Grrr. He looks bloody brilliant in a suit, too!
I know you're not supposed to show favoritism but
who's been your favorite character to write?
*looks left and right* I really shouldn’t say because the others
will get jealous but I absolutely love writing Johnny the Djinn. He’s the star
of my Djinn’s Amulet series and he is so much fun to write. He’s sarcastic,
he’s cocky and he’s just brilliant.
Check him out in Silver Screen Dream http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID=&P_ID=1349
Do you have a favorite TV show you can't miss?
I love Doctor Who and always watch that when it’s on. I don’t have
many TV programmes I can’t miss, but Being Human is one when it’s on.
If you could date any character from any book,
who would it be and why-no it doesn't have to be from your books?
Oh dear heaven I’m such a slut. How do I chose just one? Okay,
I’ll cheat and pick two. If I had to pick a guy from one of my books it’d be
Joe from Naughty Rendezvous. http://www.xcitebooks.com/Book/6653/Naughty-Rendezvous.html
He’s talk, dark, funny, American and dominant. Yum!
A character from
another book? Oh, difficult. I’m going to plump for a rather unusual one,
though. I’m going to go for Tarantio in Dark Moon by David Gemmell. He’s the
perfect flawed hero, he has a very dark side, in fact he refers to it as a
Demon called Dace but he always does what is right. He’s hot.
Please share with us some juicy details about
your latest release.
Oh, where do I start? Switching the Control is hot and steamy and
is liberally sprinkled with BDSM goodness. It has some great exhibitionist
moments, too. It’s a kinky battle for
dominance in an office setting.
What was your inspiration behind this book?
I wrote it specifically to a call for submissions for a switch
story. I’d had the idea ping into my mind a few weeks earlier, I believe it
came to me in a dream, and I knew it would fit perfectly into the BDSM theme.
It’s funny, I keep writing stories based in offices, I’ve never worked in one
in my life! I love the power play between Caitlyn and Richard. They both want
to be top dog because there’s something missing in their lives, they’re lonely.
What is in your To Read Pile
that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?
I cannot wait for my next Djinn’s Amulet book to
come out. I have to wait ‘til December for Bollywood Nightmare, though. And My
To Read Pile is huge, I’m really looking forward to having time to Read The
Long Earth by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. Pratchett is one of my all time
favourite authors.
Do you listen to music while you
write? If so what are your favorites Artists and or albums?
I have very eclectic tastes. Sometimes I listen
to music as I write and sometimes I need silence, I don ‘t know why that’s just
the way it is. I listen to the awesome mixes my hubs makes for me when I write,
I like variety!
If you could go any place in
the world and to any time period, what place time would you choose to visit?
I bang on about Scarborough a lot, it’s my favourite holiday
destination but I’d love to visit it in the Victorian Era and stay at the Grand
hotel at the height of it’s popularity. I know it would be stunning.
What is your favorite super
power and why do you want it?
I’d love to turn invisible. If you can’t work out why an Erotica
Writer would like to be invisible you probably need more sleep and a shot of
caffeine. ;)
If you could write a warning label for yourself as a person or
an author, what would it say?
WARNING:
Nice but naughty author who will talk your ear off then write you into her
smutty stories.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I’d like
to think I take on Nigella Lawson’s philosophy on any pleasure should be
enjoyed and shouldn’t be regretted. I’m working on getting rid of the guilt
from my life, I’m convinced it’s bad for my health.
Switching the Control
Blurb:
Take away the
control and what do you have left? Desire.
Melissa is smart, confident
and head strong. She has her dream career and is a step away from becoming a
partner at Grimly and Vimes. Richard ruins her perfect plan when he uncovers a
serious indiscretion in her past and forces her to be his office sex slave for
a week in return for his silence.
But Melissa finds out that
she enjoys being told what to do. She craves punishment and adores to be put in
her place and Richard does it so perfectly. It was not in her plan to fall in
love but how will she cope when it happens anyway?
Reader Advisory:This
story contains black mail, forced acts of submission and elements of dubious
consent.
Excerpt:
“Look, Melissa. I’m giving you a chance to save your career. You either
take it or you don’t. It is as simple as that.”
The silence clung to me and I stared at him. I knew there was always a way I could turn a
situation to my advantage, a chink in the argument or an overlooked opportunity
to exploit. I couldn’t find it there. I could have called his bluff but then it
would’ve come down to his word against mine and I’d never yet met a guy who was
willing to side with the opposite sex when push came to shove.
“Fine but I’m not doing anything I’m not happy with.”
“Oh, no, my pet, I’d never make you do anything I knew you wouldn’t
enjoy.” His smug smile lit up his face and made my stomach churn.
“How can I be sure of that?”
“Safe word, doll. It’s how all the kinky ones do it. You say the word ‘portfolio’ and I stop
whatever it is I’m doing to you or making you do.”
It didn’t surprise me that he
knew what the kinky ones did. I don’t think I even knew the meaning of the
word. I’d certainly never experienced anything wilder than missionary position
sex. It seemed Richard had much more planned for me.
“How can I know you’ll keep your word?”
“Melissa, come on, you know you can trust me. I have billions of pounds
at my fingertips and I am trusted to look after every penny.”
“So am I!” I retorted without thinking. He made me impulsive and I hated
it.
“Yes, well, quite. What I’m saying is that my word is all you’re going
to get and my word is all you need, okay?”
I reluctantly nodded. I’d been backed into a corner and there was no way
out. I was going to have to suck it up and endure the next week then steal the
spot on the board from his grasp. Hopefully I’d ruin his career in the process.
Yes, vindictive but no more than the sod deserved.
“Fine.”
“Good. Now to be sure that we have an understanding get down on your
knees and crawl over here.”
“What?”
“No, no, no. It’s pardon, not what.”
“Pardon?” I growled. This guy was really pressing my buttons and not in
the good way.
“Look, you’re mine. You do what I tell you to first time or there will
be consequences. I’m giving you this one because I’m a nice guy and you’re not
used to this. The next time you defy me there will be punishment.”
Why did his stern look and promise of chastisement make my pussy clench?
I didn’t know, but it did and so I slid off my chair and onto my knees. Least
his room was carpeted so I sank into deep shag pile and deeper into this crazy
game. I wish that I knew the fucking rules. I was on edge. I could feel a bead
of sweat resting in the dimple above the centre of my top lip and my skin felt
like it’d been pulled tighter across my flesh and everything inside felt
cramped and constricted.
“Come on, pet, I’m waiting.”

Thank You =) and Thanks for the giveaway!
I've heard that Scarborough is beautiful--I'm in the US, but I vow to get there someday. And I don't believe in guilty pleasures, either!
