Welcome Lorraine Nelson Today

Welcome to my Reading Nook, Lorraine. Please make yourself at home and let my cabana boys/girls get you a drink.

Sounds good!

Comfortable? Wonderful. Now let’s get started.

What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?
I’m a pantser all the way. I start with a name, an idea, or something that sparks the muse, work up a GMC sheet, then start writing.

What did you do before you were a writer? Do you write full time?
I worked in accounting for many years. Now, I craft stories of romance and romantic suspense full-time.

If you were going to cast the hero(s) of your book, what actor would get the part?
Gee, that’s tough one. I love Clark Gable and Patrick Swayze, but they’re both gone. L

I know you're not supposed to show favoritism but who's been your favorite character to write?
Another tough one! I think Samantha in Covert Mission: Undercover Cop. She’s smart, sassy, and independent, despite physical limitations.

Do you have a favorite TV show you can't miss?
I enjoy CSI, but writing and reading will take precedence over television any day.

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why-no it doesn't have to be from your books?
That would have to be Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind. I love his sexy, bad boy image.

Please share with us some juicy details about your latest release.
Finding Baby J is a medical romance, the first I’ve written. Dr. Kagan Daniels is a hunky doctor with his sights set on Shana Davis, a cafeteria worker. Being a member of an automotive founding family, and heir to the business, he gets a lot of flack from his mother about dating the ‘lower classes’. When he decides to adopt Baby J, his mother is livid.

Shana bonds with Baby J from the moment she finds him in a dumpster behind the hospital. She’s attracted to the gorgeous Dr, Daniels, but knows he is out-of-bounds. However, when the opportunity arrives to spend time with him outside the hospital, she jumps at the chance, forgoing a lifetime of set morals to be in his arms.

What was your inspiration behind this book?
My friend, DJ, came to me with the idea based on an abandoned baby precedent set in her state. We spent plenty of evenings hashing out the story, brainstorming ideas, and putting the book together. It’s a story she very much wanted told and I was happy to oblige. She’s been anxiously waiting for its release and purchased a copy, even though I offered to send her one. Needless to say, she’s read all my books and is a loyal supporter. Love you, DJ!

What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?
I love the Intrigue line published by Harlequin. Julie Miller, Paula Graves, and Delores Fossen (to name a few) are excellent writers.

Do you listen to music while you write? If so what are your favorites Artists and or albums?
No, I enjoy country music, but I need peace and quiet when I write.

If you could go any place in the world and to any time period, what place / time would you choose to visit?
Present day, anywhere. I’ve often wanted to travel back in time to when life was simpler, but I wouldn’t go back to a manual typewriter for love nor money. LOL

What is your favorite super power and why do you want it?
Super power? Never thought about it much. The ability to heal would be a great one to have.

If you could write a warning label for yourself as a person or an author, what would it say?
Caution: Love lives here!

Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Now that would be telling! LOL

Thanks for taking the time to be here today. I wish you many sales and wonderful reviews.
Thank you for having me, Dawn! It’s been a hoot! J

Teaser Excerpt from Finding Baby J by Lorraine Nelson
Breathless Press
Contemporary Romance (M/F)

One lonely woman, a doctor afraid of commitment... Will finding Baby J help them find each other?

Shana Davis knows what it's like to be unloved and unwanted. Her childhood involved being shuffled from one foster home to the next. One night, as her shift at Mercy hospital comes to an end, she hears a forlorn, mewling sound and finds a newborn baby boy left in a dumpster. The abandoned baby appeals to her soft heart and her immediate attachment to the child—dubbed Baby J—leads to her spending a lot of time in the Maternity Ward in the company of the handsome Dr. Daniels.
Dr. Kagan Daniels is heart-sore and commitment-shy due to his failed marriage and past experiences with selfish, cold-hearted women. But he sees a gentle, caring soul in Shana and is drawn to her. Despite his reservations, he realizes he wants to get to know her better and finds excuses to spend time in her company.
Having always wanted to be a daddy, Kagan adopts Baby J. As he and Shana grow closer, Shana feels she's found her own private heaven. She has Baby J and the man of her dreams. What more could a woman want?
But a conniving woman, a manipulative mother, and a man from Shana's past threaten to come between them. Will the lies spewed by others separate them forever? Or can their love win out over all?

Teaser Excerpt:
Shana could feel his gaze boring into her back as she crossed the room to marvel at the view from the floor to ceiling window. The sun had set, and the city lights were twinkling like a holiday card. The view was riveting, but also reflected in the window was Kagan as he shed his clothing.
This was all happening so fast! Could he sense her nervousness? Did he know she watched as if a voyeur? She marveled at the muscles rippling in response to his movements. He undressed right down to his silky boxers, then swooped upon her like a child overeager for a treat. After kissing her senseless, he pulled a high-backed armchair up behind her, and sat down, reaching for her. She giggled as he pulled her onto his lap, where he proceeded to undress her while nibbling at her earlobe.
His hands were everywhere, driving her to a feverish pitch, touching and fondling as he removed first her dress, then her bra. His erection was hard, and she thrilled to have it pulsing against her hip. Clad in only her panties, he proceeded to stroke her skin and tease her breasts, rolling the nipples between his thumb and finger and lightly tweaking them to hard peaks. The attention caused her to squirm, and his erection responded to her movements, becoming even harder, if that was possible.
"Enjoy the view while I pleasure you," he said in a deep, raspy voice loaded with passionate promise as he turned her around, her back to his front.
She tingled with awareness when he positioned his shaft to slide between the cheeks of her bottom. He slid his hand down to the juncture of her thighs, rubbing her through her lace panties to create an unbearable friction, which made her close her eyes and moan deep in her throat. All thoughts of the cityscape beyond were lost in her heightened awareness of the man and his magic hands.
"That's right, Shana love, come apart for me."
He slipped one finger around and under the left leg opening. Shana couldn't help but respond, rubbing her mound onto his palm as he slipped the broad, thick finger into her.
"You're so hot and wet for me, Shana. So beautiful and all woman."
He slipped a second finger inside her, and she couldn't take anymore. She thrust her hips forward, yearning for release. "Please, Kagan," she cried, tormented by the pleasure he was causing and the pressure building.

I love the premise for Finding Baby J. What a unique idea, to take such a horrific event, yet build a positive storyline around it.

I'm with you on not going back to the manual typewriter days. LOL. My fiancé, author Scott Harper and I were discussing that last week. We were in a museum and one of the exhibits included a very old typewriter. We both agreed, neither of us would give up our computers for that!

Good luck with your books!

Thank you, Desiree! There are so many childless couples (even singles) willing to adopt, bless their hearts. This story has the ability to reach out and touch. I'm extremely happy with the way it turned out.

Sometimes I long for a simpler life, or at least a quieter one in which to read and write. We've gotten spoiled, me thinks. LOL
