Welcome Sharon C. Cooper today

Welcome to my Reading Nook, Sharon C. Cooper. Please make yourself at home and let my cabana boys/girls get you a drink.

Comfortable? Wonderful. Now let’s get started.

What is your writing process? Do you outline, fly by the seat of your pants or a combination of both?
My writing process is fairly simple. I outline or at least create a thorough synopsis before I start working on a project. Without one, I’d probably never get a story completed. J

What did you do before you were a writer? Do you write full time?
Hmm…I’ve always been a writer in a sense. I have my own virtual assistant business, so that often includes projects like grant writing, creating newsletters, and in some cases -freelance writing. But WAY before that (smile), I was a sheet metal worker and I also ran our family business for numerous years.

If you were going to cast the characters of your book, what actors would get the part?
Great question! For my novel Blue Roses, I would cast Lamar Rucker - to play my hero -Tyler Hollister, and Taraji P. Henson – to play my heroine -Dallas Marcel.

I know you're not supposed to show favoritism but who's been your favorite character to write?
Hands down, Tyler Hollister. He’s brilliant, goes after what he wants, and is sexier than any man should have a right to be!  I fell in love with him the moment he showed up in my first novel, Something New. Lol!

Do you have a favorite TV show you can't miss?
I’m not a big TV watcher, but over the summer I started watching reruns of NCIS, and surprisingly I’ve enjoyed the show. Probably because the project I’m currently working on (Rendezvous with Danger) includes a hero who is a former Navy SEAL and a heroine who is a former counterintelligence CIA agent.

If you could date any character from any book, which would it be and why-no it doesn't have to be from your books?
Wow…you ask some great questions! As far as dating one of my characters, it would be a toss-up between Tim and Tyler Hollister. Tim is sweet, gorgeous and has a little bad boy in him…and Tyler, well, he’s all that and then some! Lol!

What was your inspiration behind this book?
It started with Bernard Madoff’s ponzi scheme, and the fact that I have always been fascinated with money and investing. The idea came together pretty quick after the news of his wrongdoing broke. As for my heroine - I know a couple of women who have either worked their way up to partner (president, CEO, etc) in a company and had done so with a lot of hard work, disappointments, and in some cases prejudices. And some of those same women sacrificed close relationships in order to make their dreams a reality. I thought it would be fun to put those types of situations (and others) in a romance novel, where so many independent women could relate to. As for Tyler – I wanted a strong man who could handle a strong-willed woman. Tyler is just what Dallas needs. She’s been emotionally broken and has let past hurts hinder her happily-ever-after. He comes along and restores her faith in love.

What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?
Oh my goodness, my TBR pile is so ridiculously thick I shouldn’t even add another book to it! But there are some wonderful books out there! I guess if I had to choose it would either be the next book by Suzanne Brockmann (Headed for Trouble) or Beverly Jenkins’ (Night Hawk).

Do you listen to music while you write? If so what are your favorites Artists and or albums?
I normally don’t listen to music while I write.

If you could go any place in the world and to any time period, what place time would you choose to visit?
The time-period would be…right now. J And the place would be Paris.

What is your favorite super power and why do you want it?
Hmm…I’m a big Wonder Woman fan - I even have an outfit *wink, wink* - so I guess my favorite super power would be getting the truth out of someone (with or without my Lasso of Truth). I want this super power because I think it would be interesting to know if someone is really telling the truth…especially when they say, “Oh, I love that dress! It makes you look ten pounds lighter.”

If you could write a warning label for yourself as a person or an author, what would it say?
Lol! I actually saw a T-shirt once that said stated it perfectly. In so many words it said - Be carefully what you say to me, you might end up in my next story. J

Do you have any guilty pleasures?
My guilty pleasure is reading romance novels. I’m addicted. I could read them morning, noon, or night – in the car, on a plane or sitting in a waiting room. It doesn’t matter – wherever I go – my Kindle goes too.

Book Blurb
Where most women would welcome love from a wealthy, good-looking man, Chicago-based investment manager, Dallas Marcel, is not one of them. She will never let a man control her life again. That includes handsome entrepreneur, Tyler Hollister. Dallas is on track to making partner and she’s not letting anything or anyone get in her way. But when her life is put in danger, and a Ponzi scheme ignites a SEC investigation of her firm, she realizes the one man she'd banned from her heart, might be the only one who can save her career and her life.

Tall, dark, and handsome, Tyler Hollister can have any woman he wants, but he only wants one - Dallas. When he starts talking marriage, she breaks things off between them, claiming she doesn’t want a romantic entanglement to hinder her plight to making partner. A chance meeting, six months later, brings them face to face and Tyler soon realizes the intense sexual attraction they once shared is stronger than ever. But he swore he was done with her. Except he finds out her life is in danger, and his protective instincts take over. Can he save her life without losing his heart … again?

Excerpt

“She threw what we had away, so why am I standing here just to say hello?” He mumbled and slipped a piece of gum into his mouth, not understanding his need to see her again.
His cell phone chirped twice signaling a text message, and he pulled it out of his pocket, and scanned the screen. No need to come - postponed the rest of the meeting until next week. Headed to Bradley Rd. to check on the guys.
Good. One less meeting. Tyler deposited his cell into the inside pocket of his suit jacket and adjusted his tie. As a real estate developer, it seemed most of his days were spent in meetings, reading over contracts, or dealing with building inspectors.
He pushed away from the building and rolled his shoulders just as the light turned green, and Dallas stepped off the curb. Finally, he’d be face-to-face with the woman he’d tried hard to forget, but couldn’t stop thinking about. He took a few steps when suddenly their eyes met, and a sensuous light passed between them. All of the sexual energy, passion and love he once felt for her came rushing back to the surface, and his heart hammered double-time in response. Damn
Dallas’s pace slowed, but she continued across the street, her magnetic brown eyes held his attention, immobilizing him. Less than twenty feet from him and it was as if he were seeing her for the first time. A raging fire grew in the pit of his stomach, his hands ached to touch her, and all it had taken was that one look. This is not cool. He quickly pulled his eyes away and looked everywhere but at her, feeling the need to regroup. I’m supposed to be over her.
After a long cleansing breath, he looked up again just in time to see a car barreling toward her.
“Oh shit. Watch out!” he shouted, and then sprinted in her direction.
Screeeeechhhhhh! Boom!
“Nooo!” He yelled as her body bounced off the hood of the car. He slid to a stop before he reached the corner, shock kept him from moving forward. It wasn’t until the four-door dark sedan sped away in the opposite direction that he moved into action.
“Excuse me, excuse me.” He pushed his way through the swarm of people. An icy fear crawled up his spine when he saw her lifeless body on the hard pavement, a puddle of blood painted the ground near her head. “Oh my God,” he whispered and fell to his knees. “Dallas. Baby…” He caressed her cheek, afraid to move her. His heart pounded against his chest, and beads of sweat surfaced on his forehead as panic rioted within him. “Get some help over here!”
Time ceased as a haunting sense of foreboding wrapped around him when he checked and found her pulse was weak. He needed to do something, but thankfully, in the far distance he could hear the sirens. “Hold on, baby, hold on.”

Character Spotlight: Meet Cameron Robeson from My Banished Highlander

Please give a warm welcome to Cameron Robeson from My Banished Highlander by Nancy Lee Badger today as we sit down and see what makes him tick.

Q: So tell us about yourself. What got you in the crosshairs for your author?
A: “Aye, crosshairs is right. First I did some naughty things in the first book, My Honorable Highlander, and got an arrow in the back for my troubles. Now Lady Badger has tossed me headlong into the path of another witch named Iona Mackenzie. I hate the Mackenzies.”

Q: What was it that drew you to your mate?
A: “Here’s the problem. I fell in love in the first book with Haven MacKay, the woman my cousin has claimed. I meant to win her back, but Iona pestered me to save Haven and return them both to the future. Strange, but there is something about Iona that stirs my lust.”

Q: A little naughty fun, where was the wildest place you seduced your partner?
A: “Dragon’s teeth! I tried my best to make her share my bed in the hayloft of that tavern. She’d have none of that. Could have been heaven if she had.”

Q: Boxers, briefs or Commando on a man?
A: “I am not just a man. I am a Highlander; a warrior from 16th century Scotland. At the New England Highland Games, soon after that old witch shoved me into the future, I was asked ‘What do you wear under your kilt?’ and I replied ‘My boots.’ Got a few laughs.

Q: If your partner wants to seduce you, what's one sure fire trick she can play?
A: “Iona warmed up to me when the threat of death grew larger. She took my mind off our troubles when she tossed a pillow at my feet, kneeled down, lifted my kilt, and…”

Q: What is the one place on your partner's body that you know will drive them wild-in and out of bed?
A: “Iona has the loveliest neck and she moans every time I brush my lips along her velvety skin, from her ear to her shoulder. Dragon’s teeth, she smells nice, too!”

Q: What was one of the most embarrassing things your author did to you in My Banished Highlander?
A: “Lady Badger has a wry sense of humor, let me tell you. One of the first impressions Iona had of me was when I had just tussled with a Highland steer bent on running loose. I was filthy and bloody. Then she accused me of following her!”

Q: Anything else you would like to add?
A: “The tale goes on into book number three. Lady Badger promises more adventure for all of us—and a few new characters—as she sends us back and forth through time. I hope her readers come back for more battles, witchcraft, potions, suspense, and romance. Even a big, uneducated warrior like me found love…and was smart enough to hold on tight.

BOOK BLURB

With a letter in her hand and a Highlander at her back, what could go wrong?

When his clan convicts Cameron Robeson of treason in 1598 Scotland, the last thing he thought his cousin the Laird would do was banish him to the future. With a certain woman on his mind, he plans revenge while surrounded by the sights and sounds of the modern day New England Highland Games. His plans go awry when a comely redheaded lass wearing the Mackenzie plaid lands at his feet.

Iona Mackenzie is worried about her friend, Haven, and searches for answers among the tents at the games. Whom can she trust to help? Her father? The handsome blacksmith? Or, the tall, golden-haired Highlander? Romance takes a back seat because saving her friend is her priority, no matter how great Cameron can kiss.

When a magical amulet and an angry sorcerer send this unlikely couple back through time, more than one heart will be broken. Danger, intrigue, and threats surround them, and feelings between Iona and Cameron grow hot and steamy. They fight the sorcerer and search for Iona’s friend, the woman he vowed to steal from his cousin. Will the strong-willed Highlander and the present day witch stop fighting long enough to listen to their hearts?

EXCERPT

Dinner was announced by a servant girl no older than fourteen, Iona guessed. What had her life included when she was fourteen? School, boys, summers in the antique store, trips to flea markets alongside her father. A different life, for sure.
A good childhood, I guess.
The massive curved stairs led down to a dark hallway. Voices rose near one end and she followed the sounds. The hall deposited her into the great room. All the tables were covered with bowls and baskets. The aroma of roasting meat and Scottish ale drew her closer.
Cameron stood. He was dressed in a different outfit. A worn, wool kilt of muted red and blue stripes had replaced his vest and pants. He had added a white shirt, laced at the neck. The new clothes gave him a hint of sophistication, and appealed to her on a feminine level that the leather getup had not. It reminded her of the threadbare kilt he’d worn the day they met. This was much nicer. He mirrored her scrutiny by glancing up and down at her borrowed dress.
His slow smile fueled a deep, heated response she hoped didn’t show on her face.
He gestured to an empty chair beside him, to the right of Fia. She walked across the room and ignored the stares and whispers. Besides Fia and the servants, she was the only woman among dozens of huge, well-armed men.
Iona ignored Cameron throughout the meal, and spoke with Fia about various safe topics. The meal ended, and she bid Fia and her husband goodnight. A servant with a lit candle led her to her room on the second floor, then lit the small candle beside her bed. Someone had tossed a nightgown on her bed.
“Is this for me?”
“Aye, my lady. Our mistress said ye had lost all yer belongings to ruffians. I hope it will fit ye. ‘Twas mine.”
“How thoughtful. I will return it in the morning. I had a leather satchel. Have you seen it? Otherwise, I have nothing—”
The servant shut the door and turned to Iona. Whispering, she said, “I know what ye are. We witches stick together in these times.”
“But, I don’t—”
“The master has taken your belongings and will discover yer secrets soon enough.”

Nancy Lee Badger loves chocolate-chip shortbread, wool plaids wrapped around the trim waist of a Scottish Highlander, the clang of dirks and broadswords, and the sound of bagpipes in the air. Nancy is a member of Romance Writers of America, Heart of Carolina Romance Writers, Fantasy-Futuristic &Paranormal Romance Writers, and the Celtic Heart Romance Writers.

Welcome Cynthia Arsuaga Today

Born Again in Dreams by Cynthia Arsuaga
Book 3 in the Born Again Series
Secret Cravings Publishing
 Paranormal/Vampires

The Master of His Domain
Sorin Bochinsky, Master and Commander of the Eastern European Blood Family, controls everyone and everything around him, except the woman of his dreams with the face of an angel prevents his needed rest. She’s the light to his dark and pained existence. The search begins to find the mysterious woman of his nightmares before he goes insane.

An Angel Awakens
Merliah Travers suffered more than serious injuries from a car accident over four years ago. She awakens in a place where the pain and scars have hidden her away from the world. A fantasy lover leads her out of the darkness and into the light, then discovers a special ability acquired during the coma has put her in danger.
Two lost, scarred souls battle their inner demons and a fanatic killer to unite as one, to never be alone, and be born again in dreams, forever.

ADULT EXCERPT:
He stood up and pulled her to her feet at the same time. Merliah’s gaze dropped to the waistband of his black trousers, and then to the bulge at his groin, and with her eyes burning with intensity, he realized her highly aroused state. He didn’t need to use his vampire skills. Their times together in the dreams made him keenly aware of her preferences and desires. His stomach knotted with instant need with the knowledge, causing his cock to press harder on the zipper of his trousers, causing some discomfort. He enjoyed the new pleasure of reading her body instead of using his senses as a vampire to recognize them. His heart raced in anticipation of discovering the nuances of her body from this new perspective. Like exploring virgin territory.
“Do you think anyone will see us?”
“No, I believe the trees are thick enough where we are. We should be hidden. I can barely see the light on the other side.” His tongue slid along a full bottom lip. “Now, let me undress you.”
As he steadied her, he reached around her back and slowly drew down the zipper. He smiled as the dress slipped from her shoulders and down her body, landing in a puddle on the ground. She stood before him in matching black bra and panties. “I want to see every inch of your skin, to touch you all over. Experience you like this is our first time.” Then he slipped one digit under the strap of her bra and gently nudged it off her shoulder. Reaching around, he unclipped the fastener and the delicate lacy fabric fell to the ground. Cupping the lush flesh of her breasts, he kneaded the generous orbs until she leaned forward against him.
“Oh, don’t stop, Sorin,” she pleaded softly.
His fingers gently traced the contours of her brow, her cheek, her jaw, slowly moving toward the curve of her throat. Bending his head forward, he brushed his mouth across the tingling skin, trailing tiny kisses down her neck.
“Oh yes, I want that too. Please…” Her voice trailed off.
Sorin’s grin widened. “But first, I want to taste you.” He dropped to his knees between her legs and brushed his hand across the skin of her thigh. “Spread your legs for me, angel.”
Without hesitation, she did as he demanded. Using one finger, he hooked it around the elastic and tugged the slight slip of lacy fabric down over her hips, then tore them away from her body, growling his pleasure.
“Hey, those were my nicest pair.”
“I’ll get you another.” One hand held her hip and the other palmed her mound. He glanced up at her and licked his lips, then slipped his tongue between her tender folds, tasting her with a groan of what sounded like relief.
She threw her head back with a hiss, “Oh God yes!”
He sucked and licked, urged on as her cries and pants got more urgent.

Contest Information is after the excerpt....please scroll on down to see what  Tina is giving away as a prize.

Claiming Magique by Tina Donahue
Ellora's Cave
Buy at http://www.jasminejade.com/p-10319-claiming-magique.aspx

A man at the center of power. A woman who won’t be ruled. They call her Magique.

Sought out by the District’s elite, she’s no ordinary call girl, deciding who will pleasure her for the evening. Her preference is for several men at once. Games of bondage and submission heighten her arousal and desire to have a strong male take her.

Hunter is only looking for a good time, not a woman who unleashes a hunger so deep it changes his world. He won’t stop until Magique is his alone, a prisoner of his lust, powerless against his growing need for her body and heart.

With this man, resistance isn’t allowed. For this woman, he’ll create a world of sensual delight and yearning like none she’s ever known.

Reader Advisory: Magique’s sensual journey includes some brief ménage and BDSM elements.

Teaser Excerpt:

And then, there was Hunt.

She stopped well short of the bed, her body weakening as she recalled his dark blue eyes, long lashes and his teasing comment about Pig Latin. A grin spread across her face, but only because he couldn’t see it.

She didn’t want him knowing how much she enjoyed the memory of his irreverent humor. Something about him excited her too deeply, and it had nothing to do with his potent good looks.

At thirty-two, he was a man in every sense of the word, his broad shoulders and height deliciously masculine. Beneath his well-tailored blue suit and crisp white shirt, she sensed the hard planes of his body…lean yet nicely muscular.

She’d felt his hunger for her when she’d leaned into him. He’d accepted her weight, seeming to require it.

Such a pleasant moment, she’d had to restrain herself from making it even better, turning into him, running her fingers over his bristly cheeks, rich mouth and dark brown hair, so thick and wavy a woman would be hard pressed not to bury her face in those locks. His bronze skin radiated heat. His expression was unashamed, eager for whatever came next. He wanted it all and then some. Beneath his passion, she’d seen something else for a moment. Jealousy at her attention to his friends?

The question was why and had everything to do with his ego rather than any feelings he could possibly have for her. They were strangers and would continue to be so. Tonight wasn’t about an emotional connection that could turn out bad. She’d learned the danger of that unending hurt in the past.

CONTEST INFORMATION: Tina will be awarding the winner's choice of a backlist eBook to one randomly drawn commenter at every stop.

Stop by all the tour stops and comment; the more you comment, the better your chances of winning. The tour dates can be found here: http://www.goddessfishpromotions.blogspot.com/2012/08/virtual-blurb-blitz-tour-claiming.html

WRITERS WRITE...WRITING PARTNERS FEUD ~ THE RUNNING WRITER

We sat and lamestormed the subjects of our upcoming blogs.  Pedicures lamenting... lame.  Opinions on ink cartridges... lame.  Fire ants vs. Firing Aunts... lame.  Finally we decided that we'd write something about ourselves that no one knows.

Zi runs regularly.  He has repeatedly stated calling what he does running or jogging disrespects every runner and jogger.  He describes his exercise as making it 3.5 miles without needing any ambulatory services.

So why does he so torture himself?

He'd throw out health.  But that would be a lie.

Weight control.  Another lie.

He's all-male and runs at a busy park near the University of Delaware's campus.  So is it the clench and release of a tight buttocks that he's following, the swish and sway of the perfect pair of child-bearing hips, the healthy red glow of hearts racing, the rhythmic bounce of pendulous breasts mimicking the runner's pace held in a sports bra which is one size too large, the soak of sweat making female's garb cling, the unique and interesting malady of other's runner's nipple, or the heavy breathing of wild monkey lovin' remembered?  Maybe.  Maybe not!

I suspect it  is the writer's curse.  Writers like Hemingway, Poe, Milton, Shakespeare, and Tennyson were thought to find idea-creation beneath the influence of their drug of choice.  Zi's drug is the endorphins released during long distance running.  It is called runner's high.  In the wash of that euphoria he finds the freedom to free-float through the landscape of ideas.  A happy healthy pituitary gland pissin' endogenous opioid polypeptide compounds is a cheap buzz.  Zi's a nickel-squeezer about some things.  I am suspecting opiates for the creation of a state of well-being may be on his short-list of skinflintery.  So after each econo-buzz at the park he returns and sits at the keyboard and recapitulates.  Some inspirations recalled are as soggy as his perspiration.  Some insights are quite trite.  But there are those moments of endorphin spirited brainstorming that float above the norm.

This is all more the conjecture why he runs.  It could be the clench and release of that tight buttocks.

The shower scene in KILLER DOLLS came from one of those post runs.  It is different.  Angelica laughed then said no, we re-word-pictured it, and she was sold that it was complicated, noble, and risqué.  A splashy moment of naughty and nice.

EXCERPT KILLER DOLLS

There beneath the rain of water, she saw him raw. His

legs as if massive spruce trunks she felt she was to be drawn

between. She could not delineate that line between reality

and fantasy and relished that domain.

She found herself gulping both water and reactions.

Immediately it was obvious he was an exemplary example of

man, his hairless chest was chiseled as hard and finely as

marble beneath the hands of Michelangelo. His wide

shoulders were flawless except what could have been an old

knife wound, healed well but ragged. His hips narrowed and

framed his male scepter. Her mouth formed an ‘O’, yet

withheld the accompanying and matching sound. He was

indeed the Elephant King.

With pragmatic intent he poured the entirety of the

provided shampoo onto her head and began to lather while

blocking the water from her. Generally a banal act while in a

shower but his purpose was powerful, use as much soap and

water to cleanse the area.

She pressed her hands against the glass shower door

and the ceramic tiled wall. They turned into claws as her

breathing became sporadic. The thick viscosity of the

shampoo made for the slow ooze of the matter, it bringing

stellar sensation as it crept downward. It seemed odd that

having her hair washed could produce such intoxicating

arousal, but it did. It was the feel of his hands on her that

provoked the sloshing tide of almost hot water flowing over

her like caressing feathers drawn slowly upon flesh. She

wanted to scream, Now! Do it now!

He continued to lather her, slowly, thoroughly, fingers

delving into every crevice, around her neck engulfing her

throat, fingers kneading, under the wedge of her breasts,

circling them, up and down the demarcation of her spine,

caressing shoulders and buttocks, one arm, the other,

smoothly dragging lather past her underarm toward the

slope of her waist, back to her buttocks and between those

cheeks, viciously and then between her legs, deliberately

thrusting inside her until her insides clenched, squeezed at

his fingers, pressed against them, and then exploded,

coming in a sudden silent scream of release. He didn't seem

to realize what had happened and continued his laborious,

detailed cleansing over her thighs, calves and feet, and then

he washed himself quickly yet just as thoroughly. Watching

him aroused her all over again. She tried to reach for him, to

be the one to touch every part of him, especially his massive

appointment, but he ignored her timid attempts.

Once washed, he turned off the shower and toweled

her dry. He followed the guidelines. She should be fine. She

had to be fine. He'd call for clean up and then get her away.

He'd find a safe place for her. He couldn't risk losing her
