What a lousy forty-second birthday Charlie Reynolds is having, the only gifts—a pair of cowboy boots she bought and cake by the town’s diner proprietor. An embarrassing moment with the new veterinarian tops the day off. Divorced and lonely, she soon discovers her libido isn’t dead. Lusting after the tall and handsome doctor can’t go anywhere. No way would he be interested in a plain, older woman ready to be put out to pasture. Or so she thinks.

Zach Callahan is heating up the ladies in the town of Brady Hills. He returned to his Texas roots from Virginia to start a new life taking over a thriving practice. The first day, he meets a gorgeous woman, and is instantly smitten—cowboy boots and all. He’s only interested in heating up the sheets with one woman in Texas, and she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Or so he thinks.

Temperatures rise as the heat between Charlie and Zach reaches the boiling point.
Sneak Peek Excerpt:

“So, do you know any more about this fancy pants new vet? I don’t want to lose Whispers’ foal. Doc Shep knows her pregnancies like the back of his hand. I don’t know anything about this guy.” Charlie heard the clump of boots from the stranger moving across the floor behind her. “For all we know he’s one of those alternative healing advocates. I don’t need any natural healing practices on my ranch.” Charlie looked up and saw Pete’s perplexed expression. His attention wasn’t on Charlie, but behind.
“Oh, hey Doc Callahan, right? You just get to town?” Pete’s voice hesitated slightly.
Charlie swallowed hard and turned around. Holy Mother of God! Her embarrassment was so thick it could have soundproofed the tack store. Charlie stood facing the denim-covered broad chest of a tall man. The silhouetted man was the new vet in town. Eyes slowly worked their way up to the face of the man and Charlie smiled.
“Now how would you know what kind of pants I wear when I just arrived last night? Were you peeking through my window little lady?”
Oh... my... God! Charlie’s heart thumped wildly and felt the heat rise ten degrees in the room. This wasn’t a hot flash, more like a lust flash. Oh, yeah, he had noticed her embarrassment and now played on it, and now intended to continue the game. “I, um, didn’t.”
“Charlie, this is the new vet,” Pete said.
“Obviously, Pete. You could have warned me he was standing behind me,” Charlie said and slowly turned.
“Sorry, hon,” Pete softly said, grinning.
Extending her hand, “Hi, I’m Charlie, Charlie Reynolds,” she said as her eyes took in the trim, athletic body standing within inches. Damn! She was always a sucker for tight jeans, broad shoulders, and lips perfect for kissing—the man was sexy as hell and she just made an ass of herself.
“Pleasure ma’am. I’m Doctor Zachary Callahan. You can call me Zach.” His husky baritone sent shivers down her spine. Again, warmth flooded over cheeks and through her. He flashed a wicked smile, causing another rise of heat, this time a little further south.
“Pleasure.” Turning to Pete, with eyes widened, she said, “Put this on my bill, I’ll catch you later.”
“Sure thing, birthday girl.”
Spinning around, she smacked up against the denim, this time brushing lightly against the buttoned down shirt. He smelled like the perfect combination of soap, leather, and sandalwood—clean and strong against the denim fabric. Her heartbeat pounded so loudly he could probably hear the blood coursing through her veins as if she’d rode a barrel race. Gazing up into the hazel-eyed man, she thought her knees would buckle as his eyes moved over her body, assessing and scrutinizing her from nose to toes. She tried to squeeze by him running her back along the counter, but he seemed to have paralyzed her legs. What’s going on? This man’s way younger than me.
