Tell us about
your latest book, who are the main character’s and what can we expect when we
pick it up? Chasing Safe Harbor is a
story set on the rugged coast of northern California. Michael is an architect and Thor is a
contractor for the DEA. Michael
witnesses something that Thor has been trying to see for weeks and that sets
them on a path that leads to intrigue and attraction.
Do you come up
with the hook first, or do you create characters first and then dig through
until you find a hook? With this story,
I came up with the setting first. I was
visiting that area of the country and it spoke to me. From there, the characters and story sort of
emerged from the coastal fog.
Which of your
own characters would you like to have lunch with? I think Thor and Richard would be fun to
share lunch with, though you never know if they’d make it through the entire
meal before being called away. I’d of
course tag along on their adventure.
Tell us about
what you are reading at the moment or anticipate reading in the future? Any
favorite authors you enjoy reading in your spare time? Right now, I am listening to an audiobook
that I’m proofing. The Doctor’s Heart
will be available in audio really soon.
Which of your
own books would you like to live in?
That’s pretty hard to a answer because I do live in the Carlisle Books
in a way. I think I’d like to vacation
in Past hos Defenses, and I visit the Rugged Coast once a year. But I think if I could I’d live in the Farm
stories. I think at this time in my
life, I’d like a little simplicity.
What do you do
when you have free time? I garden in the
yard. I’m currently the president of my
local garden club.
How do you
approach character development in your stories? Do you have any specific
techniques or methods that you find particularly effective? I wish I could say that I have some trick I
could pass on, but I really don’t. Often
characters develop as I write the story.
They tell me about themselves as I go.
What do you
believe sets your writing apart from others in your genre, and why should
readers choose to read your books? This
is a question I have asked myself a number of times. I like to think that my stories have warmth
and a heart centered on family. Even
when it has suspense and action, the heart is always there and in the end the
characters begin to build a family that will care for them for life.
Can you
discuss any upcoming projects or books that you're currently working on? What
can readers expect from your future works?
At the moment, I have a number of upcoming books, but I want to say that
Finding Safe Harbor will release in December and you’ll get more of Thor and
Michael’s adventures.
