Welcome Author Honey Phillips and her new release as part of the Pets in Space 6 Anthology

Discover the book reading goodness in the new anthology from the Pets in Space series. Today we are chatting with author Honey Phillips on her story, The Cyborg with no Name and about the anthology itself.

Interview with Honey Phillips

When did you begin writing and why?
I’ve written on and off for years, but about ten years ago I tried NaNoWriMo for the first time. That experience taught me that I could actually complete an entire book. It took several more years before I finally got up the nerve to press publish on Amazon. I haven’t looked back since!

Fire off five words to describe your book.
Sweet, steamy sci-fi Western hybrid

Give us an out of context quote from your book to warm our hearts.
“We are so alone, shut outside in the cold and dark. But the right woman glows like a beacon. A promise of light and warmth that we cannot resist.”

Name one song or artist that gets you fired up.
Bob Seger’s Turn the Page

Do you come up with the hook first, or do you create characters first and then dig through until you find a hook?
That’s somewhat of a chicken and the egg scenario for me. I usually have the overall conflict in mind - but it is always driven by the characters.

How do you create your characters?
I have an initial sense of who they are, but I don’t really discover them until I start writing the story. Their backstory emerges as the story evolves.

Any advice for newly sparking writers in three sentences or less.
Keep writing - and by that I don’t mean just engaging in the act of writing. Keep writing until you have finished a book. It may not be perfect, but that triumph will carry you through any revisions you need to make.

How often does your muse distract you from day to day minutiae?
She’s always there in the back of my mind, but not so much as a distraction but as a constant, low hum - rather like a beehive. To extend the analogy, she is busily gathering all the nectar and honey that I will need once I start writing.

Can you briefly describe your writing process for us?

I’m a very linear writer. I usually know the opening scene, the main conflict, and approximately where the characters will end up - so I start at the opening and write until I reach the end. It’s very much a discovery process rather than a planned process, although I may have a few guideposts along the way.

What do readers have to look forward to in the future from you?

I will continue to add to my most popular series, but I’m also excited about a new series coming in 2022!

THE CYBORG WITH NO NAME

by Honey Phillips

Dr. Rose Abbott is the scientist who pioneered the technology behind the robot horses used in the attempt to terraform Mars. Disgusted by the way her creations are treated by the GenCon Corporation, she chooses to leave her work behind and live in isolation.

Then one of her horses finds her and leads her to an injured cyborg ranger - one with no memory. She reluctantly decides to take the big male, who she nicknames Roy, back to her home to heal.

All Roy can remember is cold and pain. But the prickly little scientist taking care of him begins to thaw his frozen heart, awakening feelings he never thought to have. He is determined to protect her – even from his unknown past.

With the help of a robot horse and a cybernetic dog, can two wounded souls find peace in each other’s arms? And what will happen when the source of Roy’s injuries comes looking for him?
