Guest Author Day with Grace R. Duncan

Please give a warm welcome to author Grace R. Duncan as we chat about their latest book, Hope.

How did you start writing ‘mm romance?

I got sucked in via fanfiction. I thought it would be interesting to explore what it was like if two men were to fall in love. What was different? What was the same? I still enjoy that aspect of it.

Plotter or pantster?

I am a weird combination of both. I do a bit of plotting, then within that chapter, let it go where it will. Of course, that often means I need to change where the plot was originally going…

What are three things you have on your writing desk?

My Alexa, an otter tape dispenser, and pictures of the grandbaby and my kids.

Tell us a little about your new release. What character in the book really spoke to you?

Luis. The poor boy is so scared. When he and Miguel go on the road to look for a wolf pack that will accept them for who they love—who their mate is—he’s terrified that they’ll never find one that fits them. He really struggles with what the title is: hope.

Finish this sentence: I write because ____...

I have to. Some days I simply can’t put two creative words together and it’s hard because it’s not just what I do, it’s who I am.

What is your favorite type of character to write about?

A smartass. My favorite character I’ve ever written was Quincy from Acceptance, but I just haven’t had another one pop up like this. I need to, though. He was so much fun.

What is the sexiest scene you ever wrote?

There is a scene in Beautiful boy, where they are coming back from a date and have sex for the first time after getting tested. They’re not using condoms and there’s an emotional element that hasn’t been as big between them until then. I think that emotion probably makes it even sexier. I’d have to say that’s probably the sexiest.

What is next on your writerly horizon?

I will be spending a good deal of time working on rereleasing previous titles because I’ve recently taken my rights back from my current publisher. Around some of that work, I’ll be focusing on a story about a kpop idol and an English teacher. I can’t wait to work on this one since I’ve recently really gotten into kpop and look forward to spending more time studying the culture.

Paranormal/Shapeshifter MM Romance

Miguel Garcia and Luis Rodriguez have been best friends all their lives. For the last year, they’ve been hiding the fact that they’re also destined mates. When Luis’s family finds out, they kick him out. Miguel’s family would keep them… except their alpha has been known to be downright violent against gay wolves.

With the help of Miguel’s mother, they set out to find a pack that will accept them. They run into more that a few obstacles before they end up in Denver, at the national wolf headquarters, meeting the alpha prime. They’re stunned to find, not only offers to join more than one pack, but that their struggle can shine light on a bigger problem–and make things better for LGBT wolves across the country.

About the Author

Grace Duncan grew up with a wild imagination.  She told stories from an early age – many of which got her into trouble.  Eventually, she learned to channel that imagination into less troublesome areas, including fanfiction, which is what has led her to writing male/male erotica.
A gypsy in her own right, Grace has lived all over the United States.  She has currently set up camp in East Texas with her husband and children – both the human and furry kind.
As one of those rare creatures who loves research, Grace can get lost for hours on the internet, reading up on any number of strange and different topics.  She can also be found writing fanfiction, reading fantasy, crime, suspense, romance and other erotica or even dabbling in art.
