Welcome Author Renee Wildes

Please welcome author Renee Wildes today as we talk about her writing, books and more today.

Do you have a favorite quote from your book?
“Hope.” Tzigana looked away, stared into the fire. “The most dangerous word of all.”

“Great goddess, Maleta, stand up.” Dara dragged her to her feet. “We left our crowns at home, and Loren doesn’t like to wear his in the first place.”

Is there anything you would tell aspiring writers?
Don’t limit yourself to writing what you know—that’s what research is for. Write what you love, what you’re passionate about. Write what you’d want to read.

For readers who haven't tried your books yet, how do you think your editor or loyal readers would describe your books?
Linda Ingmanson (Samhain Editor) - I think it's a terrific book, really well written, with great characters and an interesting story line.
Cassie Knight (Champagne Publisher) – This is a wonderful book!
Mary Hughes (Reader/Fan/Fellow Author) – A perfect blend of raw passion and high fantasy.

How often does your muse distract you from day to day minutiae?
I usually carry a notebook in my purse or have been known to grab a piece of scrap paper at work to jot down ideas or bits of dialogue. I talk through dialogue, which is funny when people think I’m talking to myself…

What do readers have to look forward to in the future from you?
With all the HEAs in the Guardians of Light series, I thought it would be fun to go The Next Generation and have a Daughters of the Guardians series for their kids…

Do you have a favorite genre? Is it the same genre you prefer to write?
I started writing fantasy romance because that’s what I like to read, but I also like reading paranormal romance (Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and J.R.Ward).

When and where do you like to write? Are there any favorite places you like to go?
I normally like to write at the dining room table, but I’ll occasionally go to my local library – a change of scenery helps if I get stuck or just need to clear my head.

Who has been the biggest influence in your writing?
Joseph Campbell and Mercedes Lackey

How do you like to relax after a day writing?
Watching movies, reading, and walking the dog

How much of your own personality bleeds into your characters?

Not so much “personality” as emotions—channeling reactions to certain circumstances in the story that I think all readers can relate to.

Now a sneak peek into what Book 2 of the Guardians of Light series is about that is coming in August. Unfortunately there isn't a cover yet.

Book Title: A Guardian's Hope
Genre of Book - Fantasy Romance
Series Name - Guardians of Light (Book Two)

Publisher - Champagne Book Group

Book Blurb:
As a child, invaders butchered Maleta’s parents and left her ravaged body for dead. Now, reborn as a finely-honed weapon for the Grey Goddess, Maleta has shed the burden of emotions for one goal—regain her homeland for her brother.

Cianan ta Daneal’s mission to the fractured land of Shamar is twofold: to overthrow a despotic queen, and to save a life. For months, he’s been haunted by recurring visions of a beautiful swordswoman slaughtered by a skeleton army. He never expected to lay eyes on that woman and recognize her as his lifemate—or that she’d turn and run like hell.

Uniting Shamar’s diverse peoples in revolt is easy compared to the delicate task of wooing a woman who flinches from his touch.

Slowly, Maleta dares to hope that her country, what’s left of her family, and her shattered heart are safe in Cianan’s steady hands. But when the cold blade of fate strikes true, can she trust his love is strong enough to pull her back from the Abyss?

Warning:  This new twist on Sleeping Beauty contains an assassin nun who knows no fear. Okay, just one fear, but it’s a biggie. And an elven paladin with the Devil’s own negotiating skills. To coax her heart out of hiding, he’s gonna need every one of them.

Author Bio -
WI author Renee Wildes grew up reading fantasy authors Terry Brooks and Mercedes Lackey and is a huge Joseph Campbell fan, so the minute she discovered romance novels it became inevitable that she would combine it all and write fantasy romance. Renee is a history buff and research junkie, from ancient to medieval times, esp. the Dark Ages. As a Navy brat and a cop’s kid, she gravitated to protector/guardian heroes and heroines. She’s had horses her whole life, so became the only vet tech in a family of nurses. It all comes together in her Guardians of Light series – fantasy, action, romance, heroics, and lots of critters!
