Book Review~ Darkness Raging by Yasmine Galenorn

The wonderfully addictive Otherworld Series has hit the highest note in the next installment, Darkness Raging, where one of the D'Artigo sisters finds that the war becomes exceedingly personal as she races to save the one person she loves from a fate worse than death.

Menolly is in the trenches of the war with Demon Lord Shadow Wing and as things heat up, Menolly finds that the heat from war is about o get much closer to home than she thought.

With Shadow Wing trying to create his own twisted versions of the Keraastar Knights to destroy the portals and free him to ravage the worlds, the D’Artigo sisters are in his way along with their friends, families and allies. But when word gets to Shadow Wing of his necromancer’s fall in the Otherworld by these sisters, well lets just say things hit the fan. Now war is more personal than even the D’Artigo sisters have known before. But before they can formulate a plan to battle Shadow Wing, Menolly finds out the enemy has kidnapped her wife, Nerissa. Now all bets are off as she, along side a few allies, race to the Subterranean Realms to rescue Nerissa and deal a blow to the Demon Lord.

OH.MY.GOD. Yasmine Galenorn ratchets up the tension in her latest chapter in the Otherworld Series and delivers a pulse pounding, wild ride from start to finish. With a few twists that I sure did not see coming, this author delivers a story that left me eager for more. The story flows smoothly and keeps the suspense and tension up on high as the war on both Earth and the Otherworld raises the bar. With a few revealing twists, the authors keeps the reader glued to the pages and doesn’t let go of them until the very end. This is definitely one of the best books in the series and you can see the end game in sight….now just have to patiently wait for it to come out from the author.

What I love about this series is how much the characters grow with each book. Each book is with a different sister narrating and we see their story advance even as the other sisters storylines continue as well. Menolly is a vampire and mated to the Prince of the Vampires, Roman and married to werepuma Nerissa. She is complex, has vulnerabilities and more that I empathized with and cheered when she was able to defeat said demons and learn to live happily as she can with her wife and family. This is an author who knows how to create complex, intriguing characters that you just can not help but fall in love with. Since the first book, Witchling, I fell in love with the D’Artigo sisters and their roster of friends and family and as the series continued, I found myself on pins and needles, waiting to see what would happen next for them. Even as Ms. Galenorn goes with a new publisher for the rest of the books in the series, I am really hoping she doesn’t wait too long in finishing this wonderful Spirit Seals storyline.

DARKNESS RAGING is action packed, filled with the right amount of tension, mystery and romance to even things out. The reader will get lost in the world this fabulous author has created and written so well, you just want to go for a visit and never want to leave. If you haven’t tried her books before, then I highly recommend the Otherworld series and tell you to start from the beginning of the series in order to see where the sisters go and find. I am eager to see where the author heads in her Otherworld series and hope the next book comes out soon.
