Today I’m very lucky to be interviewing Ann Anderson author of Storming Love - Earthquake: Gabriel & Avery

Hi Ann, thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us a little about yourself, your background, and your current book.

What book do you wish you could have written?

There’s a bit of a toss-up between How to Train You Dragon and Harry Potter. The first because I’ve read all the books that are out and I’m in love with the movies and the books draw you in, wrap your heart around the characters until you’re laughing and crying and going through the whole emotional rollercoaster that kids can experience. That’s powerful right there. As for Harry Potter, those books are magic. To reach around the world and bring people together to cheer on one character… I think that’s every authors dream.

How important are names to you (in your books)? Do you choose names based on liking the way it sounds or meaning? How do you choose your names?

Oh, gosh, names. They’re super important, and so hard to nail down. I’m getting better at figuring out my characters’ names, but there are some that I struggle with. Sometimes I pick a name based on sound, other times based on meaning. For the most part, I begin writing and they plop right there on the page. Their last names though… That’s a battleground.

Were you already a great writer? Have you always enjoyed writing? How long have you been writing?

Aren’t we all great writers? ;-) I started writing back in freshman year of high school, so, about thirteen years. I began with trying to write a story, but I had no clue how to go about doing it, where to look for help, and my family was disappointed when I didn’t crank something out fast enough, so I switched to poetry. I still wanted to write a book and got back into the swing of it by writing for NanoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month for those who don’t know) in college. As far as enjoying it… I think, for me at least, it’s not so much about enjoying it. Are there fun moments? Yes. Not so fun? Yes. But writing is more something I have to do. If I go a few days without sitting down and working on a story, or generating a poem, I become itchy and aggravated. Which is good, because I plan to write stories for a long, long time.

Which character, from any of your books, do you consider your greatest work?

Hmm…that one’s hard. I think I’d pick my first character, Aldrick, in my first published work By King’s Order, simply because he was the first and we all remember our first.

What hobbies do you enjoy?

Reading. Video games. Writing. ^_^ I’m a rather boring hobby person. Oh, and antiquing.
