Welcome Krista Ames today

Please give a warm welcome to author Krista Ames who dropped by to chat with me.

To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

Sure! Right now I’m working on Book 1 of A Montana Series called Morgan’s Mountain.  1 or 2 more chapters and off to the publisher it goes.  Harper’s Wish was the Christmas Novella for the series and kind of a prologue to introduce readers to the town.

I will also have an upcoming release in May, tentative, from The Wild Rose Press titled Second Nature.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

I have a serious weakness for Dean’s Vanilla Greek Frozen Yogurt, probably because it tastes like cheesecake, which is my other weakness.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to live in Montana or Wyoming.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

I usually will either put in my mood music (Bruno Mars…Michael Buble`) or put on one of my favorite mushy movies.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?

Actually I would start with my short story Surf’s Up, which is in an anthology, Summer Shorts, available through Turquoise Morning Press here… http://www.turquoisemorningpressbookstore.com/products/summer-shorts.  This was one of my first published works.

Where do you find the inspirations for your stories?

Everywhere, literally!   I have gotten ideas from words of a song or a TV show I’m watching, or even a billboard I’ve seen along the highway.  My oldest daughter is awesome at giving me ideas as well.

If you could collaborate with one author who would it be?

I would love to write with Linda Lael Miller !!!!

Coffee, tea or other drink to get you moving in the morning?

I am a Mountain Dew drinker all the way, out of the fountain of course!

What is coming up from you in 2014?

Hopefully a few more stories from the Montana Series with Roane Publishing plus at least 1 release from The Wild Rose Press.

When you begin your stories, do you go with the flow, or go with an outline?

No outlines for me, I’m a go with the flow kinda gal ;)

Is it hard coming up with titles or characters names?

Not usually no, the titles are usually what I come up with first and the idea for the storyline is spawned from there.  The character names are usually easy to pick but when I have trouble, I ask my teen to start throwing out some names lol.

Dawn, thank you so much for having me today, it was great fun answering your questions !!

Christmas is supposed to be a joyous time of year, but for Harper Donaldson it’s just another day.  Orphaned at an early age, she doesn’t have a single good memory of Christmas.

But, when a Santa’s Mailbox mysteriously appears in the lobby of the post office where she works as postmistress, Harper wonders what it could hurt to send her own letter to Santa.

Could he bring her the family she’d always wanted?

Teaser Excerpt:

Fin peeked through the opening. “Hey, there. I just wanted to make sure you had everything you needed.”
“Holy crap! You scared me.” She stepped back with a hand over her heart and tried to catch her breath.
Fin came inside in all his shirtless cowboy glory and closed the door behind him. “Dang, I’m sorry. I seem to have a habit of doing that.” Warm palms wrapped around her bare arms. His touch took away the chill, but created a whole different set of emotions instead.
She inhaled the scent of his aftershave and glanced up at him, noticing the ends of his hair, the color of burnished oak, were still damp. A vivid mental picture of him naked in the shower had her heart racing again.
Fin’s eyes darkened and grew hungry, as if she were his next meal. Her gaze traveled to his lips, lush and begging to be kissed. The magnetic energy crackled between them, and her body swayed toward Fin’s bare chest. Her palms burned hot at the contact with his flesh.
His lips crushed hers, setting her nerve endings on fire.
She returned his kiss with eagerness. Fin’s hands roamed over her back, then lower while she moved her fingers over his muscles with a feather-light touch and into his hair. Harper couldn’t fight the attraction a second longer. She sighed as his fingers fisted into the t-shirt she wore, edging it higher to reveal her stomach.
“I’m sorry for being so forward, but I’ve wanted to do this since the moment I saw you.”
She expelled a soft moan of pleasure to encourage him.
Fin had the material around her shoulders when a knock sounded at the door—just before it started to push open.
“Hey, are you two oka—”
“Kaleb, don’t open the door!” Fin yelled as Harper shrieked and pulled her shirt back into place.
She heard Kaleb curse in the hallway, and with a muttered apology, his footsteps padded away, growing quieter the further from the door he got.
