Hi Dawn, and thanks
for having me over today. J
Can you share with us your typical writing day.
Do
you mean a good writing day or a bad writing day? I seem to have both in equal
measure.
A
good writing day starts once I’ve dropped the kids at school. I have six hours
to sit at my computer and write my heart out. The day is interspersed with
household chores – like washing, cooking and dishes—but if I’m on a roll, I can
get between two and four thousand words done.
A
bad writing day is one where the kids are home. (School is out or one of them
is sick.) Or one where I have my allotted six hours and cannot think of a word
to say. Then I spend my time on Google, Facebook, Twitter, my Nook or my
Kindle. (I am the world’s best procrastinator and can always find a million
reasons not to write.)
Is there anything you have to
have while writing?
Privacy! If there’s
anyone around, I can’t write. It’s like my creativity flies out the window. Or
maybe I know that if anyone ever saw what I was writing - ie, my love scenes -
they’d never look at me in the same way again.
And tea. Can’t
start the day without a cuppa. That cuppa is usually followed up with several
more throughout the morning.
If you were going to cast the characters of your book, what actors would get the part?
If you were going to cast the characters of your book, what actors would get the part?
I’ve given this a
lot of thought, and have found the ideal cast for Rhythm Of The Night.
See, I watched ‘The
Vow’ the other night (again - and yes, I sobbed, again), and I figure the two
actors from that movie would work brilliantly in the third Speed book. Rachel
McAdams, (with an Aussie accent) would be awesome as Eve Andrews, and Channing
Tatum, with his perfectly perfect looks, body and appeal would be a brilliant
Zachary Pace/Jonah Speed.
If you could trade places with
a character in one of your books, who would it be and why?
Hmm, I think I’d have to trade places with either Eve Andrews (Rhythm Of The Night) or SophieButler from See You In My Dreams. Why? Firstly coz their men are
super-hot rock stars. (Who wouldn’t wanna trade places with them.) Secondly I’d
love to know how an ordinary, everyday woman would react to the extra-ordinary
life of super-stardom. And thirdly, those Speed brothers love their women, and don’t we all wanna be loved that intensely?
Hmm, I think I’d have to trade places with either Eve Andrews (Rhythm Of The Night) or Sophie
What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?
I always have a
Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole or Karen Marie Moning book on my wish list. (And I
get very, very frustrated having to wait for them to release!) I also have a
few Jill Shalvis books on my Nook I’m itching to open.
Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?
Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?
Most of my characters are able
to love, but every now and again one of them needs to be taught. Or maybe a
better word would be prompted. For eg, Luke Struthers from Colors of Love feels
the emotion, he’s just terrified to show it, terrified of the consequences of
openly loving another person. He needs Seth Pace/Jordan Speed to show him how
to let go of the fear.

Speed Book 3

He rocks every woman’s world, but his heart beats only for her.
Speed, Book 3
Makeup artist Eve Andrews is an expert at blending into the background. Landing a job with the rock band Speed is the opportunity of a lifetime, and thankfully as close to the spotlight as she’ll ever get again—until the band’s sinfully sexy drummer turns his dazzling eyes on her.
After a scandal shook his world, Zachary Pace, a.k.a. “Jonah Speed”, has given up the one-night stands and easy lays. One look at Eve, and he senses his self-imposed abstinence is about to come to a screeching halt—but he’s confused. His grandmother foretold his destiny lies with a beautiful redhead, not a tiny, brown-haired pixie.
Under the heat of Zachary’s intense focus, Eve’s resistance melts away, but not the façade that hides her terrible secret. And when she accidentally catches a glimpse of his heart’s desire—his fated redhead—her instincts tell her to let him go…before he gets too close. Before he sees the real woman behind her mask, and her heart is left in the dust of his almost-certain retreat.
Warning: This is a Speed book, so you know there’s gonna be a small element of fantasy to it. And a big element of romance. Oh, yeah, and whole lot of sex. Sex hot enough to make you throb to the rhythm of a very sensual beat…
