Throughout the Highlands she is known as Keely, the witch woman. She is a great healer-a woman
whose dreams come true. Ian MacPherson is a man who puts honor, loyalty and
duty above everything. Their lives are entwined when Ian is sent by the
Scottish King to bring Keely to trial for witchcraft. He is attacked and left
for dead, but Keely rescues him. When he wakes, he discovers he has no memory.
As he remembers his lost past, Ian finds that his need to protect the woman who
has saved his life eclipses his duty to his king and country., He is a man torn
between honor and duty to his country and the woman he loves.
Excerpt:
"Go," Whipple
cried out. "Do not return here." The cane was still held aloft and
the tip glowed red and orange, flashing ribbons of light heavenward while
lightning descended to meet the cane. All seemed to blend into one, the beginning
and end impossible to define.
Bolts of lightening struck
the ground, prodding the soldiers away from the clearing, almost as if they
shattered the forest floor for that purpose. Thunder roared across the heavens.
Panic-struck, the horses and the men fled.
Yet Keely knew they would
return. They sought her and she would no longer be safe. Her shelter would no
longer protect her from harm. And she understood Whipple was not the frail old
man he'd pretended to be for so many years.
"'Tis safe now."
He stooped low and stared into the brushes. "Ye can come out from your
hiding place. The soldiers are gone for the moment. Hurry, lass."
She brushed the twigs and
her hair from her face and eased herself from the bushes.
Whipple was as he had always
been, stooped and frail looking, his leg braced at the precarious angle she'd
become familiar with.
She blinked as if the
gesture would clear her mind and opened her mouth to speak.
"Hush, Keely. No
questions now. We must flee. They will return as soon as they gather their
wits. When there is time, I will answer all your questions."

Hi,
being from Oregon, & writing about the Highlands, I imagine you had to do all kinds of research.
I would love to go to Scotland, but in the meantime I'm happy to read about it.
