My Rating for Love Means...Renewal: 4 Stars
Eli
Henninger is a man worn out. He pushes himself to do so much on the farm, to
make it the success it is today as well as raising his son with partner Geoff.
Both men are overworked, tired and they need some alone time together but with
a growing business/farm & family, their personal relationship has taken a
backseat to everything else. That changes when Eli is accused of something
serious with one of their riding school kids and then Eli gets sick. Geoff
realizes he needs to change his priorities because a life without Eli is one he
doesn’t want to imagine. Ever!
I absolutely love the Love Means.. or as this author’s fans call it, ‘The Farm stories’. Andrew Grey’s stories have heart and I was absolutely thrilled to revisit with the main characters that kicked this series off in Love Means…No Shame. Geoff and Eli have a special place in my heart and I adored seeing these two again. The writing is tight and the story moves like lightening in a bottle. Full of sparks, flashes of light and volatile energy. The reader is transfixed as we find out the issues facing Eli, Geoff and the farm as well as the cute little boy they are raising, Jakey.
Eli and
Geoff have turned the farm around and have added to their land. But neither can
figure out how to get some alone time together especially since both are
working sunup to sundown every day and with hardly any breaks to reconnect as a
couple, they are in danger of losing one another. Andrew Grey has a wonderful
way of going straight to the heart of the matter with these two. With the right
amount of love, desire and determination, he gives Eli and Geoff (plus the
readers) something to show how much they lost while doing their best for the
farm. I love how the main characters learn to slow down, relax and reconnect.
That spark I saw in earlier stories was almost snuffed out and this author did
a great job in making sure it was recaptured again. Some familiar characters
pop in and I loved seeing some old friends in the story.
Andrew Grey is a talented storyteller and with this novella he gives us a glimpse into one of my favorite couples-Geoff and Eli. I loved seeing them as an established couple, raising a son, and dealing with real life issues such as being a workaholics and having a relationship suffer from it. I thought this author did a really good job in creating a good story line to show how caught up they were in running their farm that the relationship that was Eli and Geoff suffered. Plus I was eager to figure out who tried to hurt them as well. Andrew Grey does a really good job in keeping the reader entertained from start to finish and I can not wait to see if he comes back to the Love Means... series for more stories since we got introduced to a new character in this story that I am eager to know more about.
