“Police. Open up.”

Police? Oh God, had something happened to Dex? She didn’t bother taking another glance through the peephole. The brash officer had already scared ten years off her life. Instead, Liv held one hand against her breast to keep her galloping heart from puncturing through her rib cage; with the other she turned the lock.

The door burst open and Liv was bodily turned then shoved against the wall before she could make sense of what happened. A huge masculine form covered her from head to toe, pinning her in place, not that she’d even think of struggling against a cop. The door slamming shut rang in her ears like a gunshot.

“Don’t you fucking move,” a sinful, deep voice growled in her ear.

His weight shifted, allowing Liv to take a shallow breath. Capturing both her wrists in one hand at the small of her back, he held her immobile, kicked her feet wide apart, and started patting her down.

A blast of terror colder than the storm raging outside racked her body with shivers. The officer’s big hand slid over her shoulder and arm to the elbow then grazed her ribs before descending lower. He cupped one ass cheek and squeezed, pulling an indignant squeak from Liv. Copping a feel was so not part of a standard police pat down as far as she knew.

He didn’t stop there. The officer bent, keeping her off balance as his hand trailed her outer leg then reversed direction and slid up, all the way up to her crotch before following the same path on the other leg. When his hand found the other fleshy globe, he groped her again before finishing off at her shoulder.

Slimy bastard!

Maybe, but being felt up by a man whose face she hadn’t even seen was getting her hot and bothered. The bite of cold steel registered against her wrist a mere second before the snick of the handcuff locked her down tight. His next move shocked Liv to her core.

She was kept facing the wall but the officer shifted, pulling her back against his broad chest, one thick thigh pressed between her legs, and he now used both hands to continue his search. Warm fingers trailed over her collarbones, dipped into the hollow of her throat, and drifted lower in an almost sensual caress.

“Why did you do it?”
