Guest Author Day with Silvia Violet

Why don't you start with telling us a little about yourself? What genre do you write in and why?
I'm Silvia Violet and I write erotic romance in a variety of genres, primarily sci fi, paranormal, and historical. I fell in love with romance books when a friend and I discovered her mother's romance book collection hidden away under her living room sofa. Ten years ago I decided to make writing my own stories a priority. At the time, erotic romance was just starting to be more than a small niche of the romance market, but no matter how hard I tried to tone my writing down, my characters demanded smoking' hot sex. I gave it them and I found Changeling Press and Loose Id and I've never tried to write sweet romance since.

Tell us a bit about your latest book, and what inspired you to write such a story.

Did your book require a lot of research? My latest book is Protect and Serve: Savage Wolf. I loved the first stories I read in the Protect and Serve series and Cynthia Sax, author of Badge Bunny, encouraged me to write one of my own. I wanted to play around with a type of shifter I'd never done before and I thought the idea of a wolf falling for a deer would be perfect for the type of silliness I wanted to create. I ended up doing some research on deer behavior to help me write the scenes when Natalie is in deer form.

If you could have any vice without repercussions, what would it be? Gluttony. I love food in a passionate, sensual way. Give me some good food porn any day. *grin* Oh how I would adore being able to eat all I wanted with no consequences.

If you could have been the servant to any famous person in history, who would that be and why? Jane Austen. I would love to have watched her writing process and maybe sneaked the drafts she tossed so I could study her craft. I would also love a peek into life in the Regency period.

What so you see for the future of publishing and e-books? I think the e-book market is going to continue to grow. I can't imagine not having some print books around but I think we'll eventually see lots more books that come out only in e form.

Which of your characters do you love/hate/fear/pity the most and why? It so hard to choose because all my characters are special to me but if push comes to shove I;d say I'm most in love with Marc Devlin of Shifter's Station. He is so brave and strong but he's had to protect and care for his whole battalion of shifter's for years. They all look to him for guidance and a way to make a living on the edge of known space. He works so hard to keep in all together and yet the responsibility brings him close to the breaking point. He's lucky to have Kirlos and Larissa to keep his softer side alive.

Do you get along with your muse? What do you do to placate her/him/it when she/he/it refuses to inspire you? Most days we get along but when I'm in the planning stages of a new story, my muse often decides to take a temporary vacation. She's prone to these flights of fancy about 3/4 of the way through the first draft as well. On those days, I switch to another project or tempt her back with Chocolate-covered cream-filled Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Do you have another book in the works? Would you like to tell readers about your current or future projects? I'm currently working on edits for Seduction of the Captain, a BDSM sic fi that continues my Surrender series, published by Loose Id. I'm also working on a horse shifter novella, Stallion's Battle. And my hutch of plot bunnies contains more vampires including one who may figure in another Protect and Serve story, a cuttlefish, and a brooding space pirate.

Have you ever experience weird cravings while you write? If so, what kind? Nothing weird that I can think of - chocolate, doughnuts, cake, coffee, red wine, all my usual suspects.

What is the most ridiculous thing that you have thought about doing to any of your characters but never did? I considered making Wolf sniff Natalie (his deer shifter lover) out of a crowd of shifters in deer form.

If you had to write yourself as a heroine/hero, what kind of heroine/hero would you be? What would you be named? I'd be a space ship captain because I love to be in charge (just ask my dh about my control freak side) and I wish I were that brave and adventurous in real life. I'd be named Francesca because that was my favorite name when I was a kid. I wanted my parents to rename me.

If your muse were to talk behind your back, what secrets would he/she tell? She might just reveal the inappropriate gleefulness that comes over me as I devise erotic torments for my heroines or she might gossip about how easily I'm distracted by anything and everything on the internet when I'm supposed to be writing.

If someone hasn't read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why? Shifter Station Collection because it has a bit of everything I most enjoy writing - shapeshifters, sci fi, BDSM, and an unexpected kinky twist in the form or an alien sex table.

If there was a soundtrack to your latest novel, what genre/songs would be included? Classic 80s hits like Hungry Like the Wolf by Durran Duran and Animal by Def Leppard

When you're not writing, what do you like to do to just kick back and have fun? Read, read, read and then bake so I 'have some goodies to eat while I sip some coffee and read some more. Then once my eyes are too tired I might take a walk around the neighborhood and help my daughters add to their nature collections or spot some cool birds.

If we peeked at your bookcase(s)/e-reader, what kind of books/authors would we find there? Along with plenty of erotic romances, you'd find Jane Austen, P.G. Wodehouse, some YA fantasy and steampunk and a bit non-fiction mostly about animal behavior and history. Some of my favorite authors are Angela Knight, Morgan Hawke, Keri Arthur, Lexxie Couper, Gail Carriger, and Philip Reeve.

Where can we find you on the web? My website is currently being designed and the new site will debut in a few weeks. Right now, I'm keeping everyone updated at my blog: http://silviaviolet.wordpress.com

Sneak Peek into Protect & Serve: Savage Wolf
Available HERE at Changeling Press

A werewolf and a deer shifter. There's never been a game of predator and prey quite like this.

I'm Wolf, Officer Aidan "Wolf" Savage. I'm a werewolf. But unlike most of my kind these days, I'm one of the good guys even if I do scare the hell out of most people the first time they meet me. When a white-tailed deer shifter comes leaping into my life, she makes my body hotter than an erupting volcano. She's on the run, and she doesn't want my help. But I'm not about to let her get herself killed, and I'll use any means necessary to keep her safe.

Excerpt:
I tried to make myself be a gentlemen and roll off my naked little shifter. But werewolves aren’t gentlemen. I heard her racing heart and smelled the hot cream between her legs, and my wolfish side begged me to shove her legs up onto her chest and bury my cock in her pussy. Then she shocked me by opening her legs and inviting me in. How could a man say no?
And, by all that’s holy, she said those four words that just about made me lose it before I’d even gotten inside. “I like it rough.” Just what an alpha wolf like me needs. A woman who appreciates my appetite.
When I drive into her, holding nothing back, she cries out. Her pussy holds me tight. I fight to hold still and let her adjust to my size. But she wraps her legs around my hips and bucks against me.
“More,” she begs, and I’m not about to deny her. I slide out nearly all the way. She whimpers.
I thrust back in, and she groans, “Yes.” After that I ride her hard and fast. She meets every stroke, slamming her hips against mine. I fuck her with brutal strength, and she keeps crying for more. I’m in heaven.
Her gorgeous breasts bounce up and down in rhythm with my thrusts. I can’t wait another second to get better acquainted with them.
I shift my weight to one arm, and use the other hand to cup the tantalizing flesh, which is as soft and smooth as it looks. I slide my thumb back and forth over her tightly puckered nipple, and I’m rewarded with a sharp cry.
I keep up the light, teasing strokes. She arches toward my hand, whimpering. I pinch and tug on the pink bud. She bucks so hard she nearly unseats me. “Yes, God, yes!” she cries.
I need one of those sensitive nipples in my mouth like I need to breathe. I grab her hips, holding her firmly on my cock as I sit back on my heels. She lets her torn dress and bra slide from her arms. Then she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls herself up until she’s seated in my lap. Now I can lick and suck and bite those hard buds all I want while driving myself even deeper inside her tight, wet cunt.
As if she can read my mind, my doe pulls my head down to her breast. I draw a pink tip into my mouth and suck hard, letting my teeth sink in just enough for her to feel them. She cries out, digging her hands into my scalp. “Harder, oh God, harder. I . . .”
I glance up without letting go of her nipple, desperate to know what she wants to say. Her deep brown eyes are wide and filled with need. “I like it to hurt.”
I nearly choke around the hard flesh in my mouth. Have I died and gone to werewolf heaven? I bite hard enough to make her scream.

Hi Silvia,

Thanks for dropping by today. I love Officer Wolf and wonder...will we see him again in a future book?

Hi Dawn, Thanks for the opportunity to be here. Wolf will appear as a secondary character in an upcoming protect and serve, an m/m featuring Natalie's brother Jason. I've also written an Encounter (free story offered by Changeling) with Wolf and Natalie that will be posted soon at Changeling and ARe. As to another novella of his own, it's a possibility.

Dawn, I also LOVE Officer Wolf. Woot! He can serve and protect me any time. Savage Wolf is a must-read for folks who enjoy hot, humorous romances with men in uniform!

Thanks Cynthia! Wolf says hi to you and to Dawn. He's happy to be sent out on protection duty any time you have need of him. But I do require that he gets sent back *grin*
