Book Spotlight~ New Sion by Diana Green

New Sion

Romantic Sci-fi novel, available at Amazon in paperback or e-book

Pretending to be a man isn’t easy. Finn Colville has pulled it off for years, but things get complicated when she falls for her new bounty hunting partner, Eamon Sullivan. On the planet New Sion, it’s against the law for a woman to wear pants and carry a gun, much less shoot people for a living. What will happen if Eamon discovers her secret?

On a backwater planet, at the edge of a galactic war, one man, one woman, and one desperate alien cross paths. Together they embark on the road trip of a lifetime, bound for revelation and redemption.

Excerpt

They rode north for a couple of hours then stopped around noon. It was a warm day, so they made camp beside a small river where they could swim and do some washing. Eamon took the first dip, while Finn rested in a patch of shade.

It was perfectly clear weather, like a final breath of summer. She lay staring up through the swaying sweetbark fronds. They made a lovely pattern against the cloudless blue sky. In the brush beside the river, birds rustled and sang, adding their music to that of the flowing water. The tang of Satan’s vine drifted through the air along with the spicy scent of redthorn thickets warmed in the sun.

Finn felt happy, despite her hurting side. She wouldn’t have minded going on like this for a long time, riding a little further each day, seeing the countryside, enjoying her friendship with Eamon.

She heard him whoop as he plunged into the water, and she couldn’t resist looking toward the river. The bushes along the bank formed a partial screen, but she could still see him swimming and splashing about.

The water must have been cold, because he didn’t stay in long. Soon he was standing in the shallows, scrubbing himself with a bar of soap before jumping back in the river to rinse off. With a curious thrill, she observed all of his actions. In her entire life, she’d never seen a man with no clothes on.

Eamon was nicely formed, with long lean lines to his body. He looked fit and strong, but not bulky. She watched him putting on his trousers and washing the rest of his clothes. He spread them over the bushes to dry. She liked the way he moved, his muscles bunching and stretching under his skin.

“Oh brother,” she muttered, realizing her mistake. He looked too good, and this wasn’t going to help the situation.

She changed position, turning her back to the river, trying to close her eyes for a nap. Of course, she wasn’t remotely sleepy now. The afternoon’s heat smothered her, and she sat up, taking off her boots and rolling up the sleeves of her shirt.

“You ready?” Eamon called, walking up from the river. He was shirtless and barefoot, his hair still damp from the swim. “The water’s chilly, but it feels good to wash. I’m glad you suggested it.”

Sunday Series Spotlight~ Ashlyn Chase's Strange Neighbors

Book One: Strange Neighbors
Paranormal, Romantic Comedy
Available at Amazon

SALE: Strange Neighbors will be $1.99 starting tomorrow March 21st until 4/4.

Strange Neighbors has been called the paranormal version of "Friends." Remember that TV show? Now picture Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Ross and Joey as witches, shapeshifters, and vampires. Don't worry, I didn't copy the show. That wouldn't be much fun for either of us. Besides, the book is always better than the movie or TV show, right? Here, I'll give you a little teaser:

When all-star pitcher and shapeshifter Jason Falco buys a small apartment building, he sees it not only as an investment, but as a place to escape the demands of major league baseball.

That is, until he meets his tenants! A vigilante vampire: a wereraven with a morbid sense of humor; a werewolf thief who poses as a security expert; and two witches who work as phone sex actresses and own an owl familiar. Not to mention a beautiful, all too human nurse who gets Jason's blood pumping overtime.

With all the hooting, howling and hollering going on, how can an All-American guy get some peace and sweep a girl off her feet?

Book Two: The Werewolf Upstairs
Paranormal Romantic Comedy
Available at Amazon

SALE: Book 2, The Werewolf Upstairs will be $3.99 until 4/4

Petty crime never looked so good...

Alpha werewolf Konrad Wolfensen sees it as his duty to protect the citizens of Boston, even if it means breaking into their businesses just to prove their security systems don't work. But when his unsolicited services land him in trouble with the law, he'll have to turn to his sexy new neighbor for help.

She should know better...

Attorney Roz Wells is bored. She used to have such a knack for attracting the weird and unexpected, but ever since she took a job as a Boston public defender, the quirky quotient in her life has taken a serious hit. Until her sexy werewolf neighbor starts coming around...

 Book Three: The Vampire Upstairs
Paranormal Romantic Comedy
Available at Amazon

Room for Rent: Normal need not apply

This old Boston brownstone is not known for quiet living...first the shapeshifter meets his nurse, then the werewolf falls for his sassy lawyer, but now the vampire is looking for love with a witch who'se afraid of the dark...and you thought your neighbors had issues!

Undead Sly is content playing vigilante vampire, keeping the neighborhood safe from human criminals, until Morgaine moves in upstairs. Suddenly he finds himself weak with desire, which isn't a good place for a vampire to be. And Morgaine isn't exactly without her own issues — will the two of them be able to get past their deepest fears before their chance at "normal" slips away...

About the Author:
Ashlyn Chase has been a registered nurse for 20 years. During those years, she wrote articles for professional journals and a thesis, but eventually, thank goodness, discovered the joy and freedom of writing fiction.

Ashlyn considers herself lucky.  Her degree in behavioral sciences is a combination of psychology and sociology, so she has worked with and studied people most of her life.  She never has to write out exhaustive character sketches to understand her characters or predict how they will behave.  That doesn't mean they don't surprise her.  Sometimes they take her on grand unexpected journeys.  For her, it gives "character driven novels" a whole new meaning.

Ashlyn has learned to go with the flow.   To enjoy the journey is not only one of her writing goals, but also a challenge in life so she tries to follow where the story takes her.  As such, she has lived in 17 different places over the years. At last, she's all settled down and comfy in New England.

Is there a grand design or do we decide our own fates?  Perhaps if the powers-that-be have a plot, then they also give us the right to revise it.  Ashlyn has certainly made detours on her path, but she thinks she's better for it.  She's having fun at any rate and hopes that if she enjoys the journey, so will those around her—including her readers.

Ashlyn supports these charities with contributions from her royalties as often as possible.

excerpt

I opened my eyes again, and we locked in a hypnotic gaze. I didn’t look away like I normally would when a hot guy caught me staring. I held the gaze and just keep dancing. I felt seductive for the first time in my life. The hottest guy I had ever seen was watching me with a hunger in his eyes. And I was dancing for him.
The song changed, breaking my concentration from Jared and back to the DJ. A feeling of euphoria filled my entire body as I looked out at the scene before me, taking it all in. I love it here. I want to dance all night. Suddenly I felt a hand on my hip. It startled me, but I didn’t mind. A body moved up against me and started to move in harmony with mine. I shot a look over my shoulder and caught a glimpse of Jared. My face now only inches from his. I turned my body around so we were face to face. Still moving with the beat of the music, our bodies melded. Now I was hot. Why is it so hot in here? Up close I could see he had a small silver piercing just below his bottom lip and it protruded forward as he bit his lower lip and stared deep into my eyes.
I mirrored his gesture and bit my lower lip, looked up at him with my large doe eyes as he started to grind closer to me. With his hand on the small of my back he pulled me into him, pressing his body hard into mine. The smell of his cologne was intoxicating. I had an overwhelming urge to kiss him, our lips now only an inch apart, at best. I wondered if he felt the same. Is he going to kiss me? God, how I want him to kiss me! His took his finger and gently ran it from the base of my neck down my décolleté and stopped right above my cleavage. My skin moistened from sweat, my panties moistened in arousal. Why was he teasing me? I wanted him so badly I considered pulling him off to the bathroom. Have some class, Shay. My conscience reared its ugly head for the first time all night. Glad to know I still had it, but unwilling to listen, I closed my eyes and leaned my head back, exposing my vulnerable neck. I saw flashes of light pulsating through my closed eyelids, and I felt Jared’s hand move from the small of my back down to my ass as he gripped it in his palm. Finally, soft lips met my neck. He gently kissed his way up until our mouths were in perfect alignment. He paused, and I could feel his breath on my face. We were so close. Why won’t he kiss me? Unable to take it any longer, I latched my fingers around his neck and pulled his mouth into mine.
His lips soft on mine, kissed me slowly at first, and then the whole world around us seemed to fade away, and I was lost in his embrace. I teased him a bit, circling his piercing with the tip of my tongue, and then put it in my mouth and tugged gently with my teeth. I had never been so forward with a guy before, but I couldn’t stop myself. My attraction for him was animalistic and the way he looked at me, with a craving in his eyes, told me he felt the same. His hands made their way up my back, my hair tangled in his fingers as he pulled me deeper into him—just forcefully enough to be sexy, yet still rough enough to drive me crazy. His touch did something to my body I had never experienced before, but I liked it, and I wanted more.
I moaned through muffled lips as he started to kiss me hard and deep. It was like our mouths were made for each other. We were full-on making out in the middle of the VIP section, and I just didn’t give a shit who was watching. My eyes still closed, we sucked and licked on each other’s lips in time to the music. I could feel his erection pushed up against my pelvic bone as he grinded himself into me. I was ready to give myself to him when my conscience came back. Don’t give it all at once, Shay. That bitch had the worst timing. But I knew better than to give it all at once. At least I hadn’t lost all of my senses—just my hormones.
I pulled away slowly, lingering on his bottom lip for a moment before letting it go as I looked deep into his eyes. They had a yearning in them now, a look of lust. I knew I had turned him on, I could feel the confirmation still pushed up against me. He leaned in for one last kiss as the song changed, and suddenly it was like he had been awakened from a trance. For me it was more like waking up from a wet dream—still hot and bothered, yet bummed it was over. He flashed me his sexiest grin that let me know he enjoyed our encounter, then turned and walked over to Pope and grabbed a beer from the ice. Our dance was over.
I wondered if he danced with all the girls like that.
I wondered if we’d ever dance again.
I knew one thing for certain … I didn’t want the night to end.

Read along with the twists and turns of "Eyes Only" where trust is a rare commodity and you'll never know which side to root for until the very end

Teaser:

"I dunno, maybe I had a wild hair that night or maybe I was going a little bit stir crazy. In any case, I think Charlie sensed it and that’s why he made the suggestion. So this one time, I decided I'd go to the restricted bar. What harm could it do? I'd have a few drinks with Charlie, hear some old Marine stories, and call it a night.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
Isla Aldon was her name. My eyes found her as soon as we stepped in the bar. A crowded bar too. And she was a short thing."

Teaser Excerpt

“If you don’t mind me saying so, Mr. McLeod, you seem quite domesticated,” Savannah said in a haughty tone.

Gabriel laughed. “Like a favorite pet, Miss Russell?” He glanced toward her with humor. “I always think domestication ruins the better part of the beast.”

“But you wouldn’t want a wild dog in your house,” Savannah protested. “And horses must be tamed.”

Gabriel nodded. “I would hate to think you compared me to a horse or a dog, miss. I hope I have better manners than that?” he asked, raising his eyebrows mockingly toward Savannah. “Though, I agree, horses are most useful for our purpose when tamed, but I wonder if they truly enjoy working for us?” He looked toward me, although he did not push me into the conversation.

He let out a long theatrical sigh. “Domesticated cats, dogs. Domesticated women. Wonderful creatures. Wouldn’t you agree, Miss Sullivan?” He looked toward me wickedly. I had bolted so hard in the rocker at his words I had nearly flown onto the floor. I watched him with wide eyes, wondering why he pushed Savannah so.

Savannah replied, “Now you are offensive, sir.” She vibrated with anger.

“Isn’t that what all young women long to be?” Gabriel asked Savannah, setting down the filled mugs with a clunk. “Domesticated. Demure. Tamed to the needs and ways of their husbands?”

“You know perfectly well you are describing the ideal wife,” Savannah spat out.

“Am I?” he asked, sounding unconvinced. “What do you think, Miss Sullivan?” he turned to me. “Is that what you long to be, a domesticated woman?”

“No!” I blurted out before I could stop myself.

“Rissa!” Savannah scolded me, eyes flashing. She had begun to breathe heavily, and I feared she would faint with her tightly laced corset.

I blushed but met Gabriel’s eyes. “No,” I said. “I have no desire to match that description. Slightly less clumsy, perhaps,” I muttered.

“Yes, I agree,” Gabriel said, causing me to worry he agreed with my assessment about my clumsiness. “Domestication is akin to docility which is an unattractive trait in a woman.” He smiled knowingly at me, and I felt a flash of pleasure.

“Do you speak in earnestness, sir, or are you in jest?” Savannah demanded. When Gabriel merely turned to look at her, she continued. “Men want docile, demure women,” she expounded, as though teaching a rudimentary fact to Gabriel.

“Well, pardon me, ma’am, for not learning my lessons well,” he replied, nodding his head deferentially.

I watched Savannah’s face become flushed red with anger and was worried she would erupt. She generally kept her temper under control, but, when it blew, it was a frightening thing to behold.

“I’d actually like to meet a young woman who can think for herself and doesn’t want only what her father or husband wants.” His quiet statement made my pulse quicken.

Savannah scoffed, “That path leads only to misery.”

“Or tremendous contentment,” Gabriel countered.

Savannah stood, knocking into the table with such force she caused tea to spill out of the mugs. “I will not sit here any longer and listen to your insolent beliefs,” she declared. “Rissa?” She turned toward me expectantly, then headed toward the door.

I looked at Gabriel with remorse, wanting to have spent longer time in his company. “I enjoyed our conversation. Maybe we could continue it one day at the school?” I watched him, hopeful he would agree.

He smiled, releasing a sigh of relief. “I would enjoy that very much, Miss Clarissa.”

I had forgotten how his voice could feel like a caress. I closed my eyes for a moment, having missed hearing his gentle baritone. No matter how much I had enjoyed his letters, I had missed him.

A Romantica® Paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Excerpt:
Each brush of her body against his cock revved up his raging desire, but he wasn’t ready to join their bodies. Hearing her responses to his touch pleased him, fed that craving to see to her pleasure. He knew what would make more of those breathy moans spill from her mouth. Lucky for his woman, it was one of his favorite things to do with a female.
He kissed his way to her belly button, swirling his tongue in the little indention before moving lower. Close-cropped curls covered her sex. He loved the sensation they created against his cheek. Shifter females were bare here and many of the humans he’d been with had a healthy dusting of hair. He’d never cared what hid a female’s sex, but Lena’s neatly trimmed mound offered the best of both.
With his nose buried in the soft curls, he inhaled her lush scent. She was fertile and the fragrance ramped up his need to fill her with life. He couldn’t. Yet. But he would. And the image of her belly swollen with his babes sped his pulse. She’d be beautiful.
He kissed the edge of her mound, where hair met silky skin. She shivered.
“Devin,” she breathed.
“That’s right, baby. I’m the only male who has the right to be here.”
He shifted his attention to her core before she could respond. He lapped up the juices leaking from her sex. The tiny drops of ambrosia clung to the ends of her curls like offerings for him alone. Her flavor met his tongue and he groaned, the need to drink of her strong. Sweet and earthy, she tasted of life. He showed her his reverence with each languid swipe of his tongue over the swollen lips.
She writhed under him. When she lifted her bottom, pressing her moist center into his face, he grinned. “More?”
“Yes, more. More, more, more.”
He eased away. “Say ‘please’.”
She pushed up on her elbows, the wild mess of her brown hair framing her flushed face. “Fuck me with your tongue. Please, Devin. Lick me clean.”
She’d said ‘please’ but his female hadn’t asked him. She ordered him. And he liked it.
With his thumbs, he parted her lips. He blew warm air on her stimulated flesh, her answering groan satisfying him. “Well, since you asked so sweetly, how could I deny you?”
