Welcome Cari Quinn and Taryn Elliott today

Thanks for having us on the blog, Dawn! We’re both buried under deadlines so I’m going to take this one. =)

To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

Well, I’m finishing up ROCKED—which is the next book in the Lost in Oblivion series. This is Deacon’s book. The boys are on their first official tour as an opening act for Rebel Rage – one of their personal heroes. A lot of rude awakenings happen. The band members walk a tightrope over the fun and excitement of their dreams coming true, and the rude awakening of just what happens when the fame monster comes into play. Deacon’s role in the band has changed and he’s fighting to find his place. And while he’s already off-balance he has the added stress and excitement of falling in love with one of the catering chef’s on the tour, Harper Pruitt.

That comes out 10/31 if all goes well with edits.

And because I’m slightly insane, I’m throwing my hat into the NaNoWriMo ring again in November and working on a new project.

TWISTED – Jazz and Gray’s book from the Lost in Oblivion series will be out in Spring 2014

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?

Wow…good question. I think most of my characters think that being independent is the most important thing and love scares the crap out of them. They have to learn that love doesn’t mean being weak—that it’s quite the opposite.

Most of them are rather stubborn. *blush*

If you could collaborate with one author who would it be?

I’ve got her! Cari Quinn and I met 5yrs ago this summer. We grew from simple critique partners to best friends and now to collaborators. We’ve really found something special when it comes to brainstorming in the middle of laughter and sarcasm. And we’ve got Lost in Oblivion going as well as another rock star group in talks, and a bakery series set in Salem, MA called Kiss Kakes we’re hoping to work on next year.

When you begin your stories, do you go with the flow, or go with an outline?

I usually have a pretty good set up and outline, but by the time I start writing it the characters tend to take over and I end up going with the flow and doing another outline about halfway through after I’ve gotten to know the characters.

Is it hard coming up with titles or characters names?

TITLES!!! OMG…I’m terrible at naming my stories. LOL Naming my characters is easy. Of course with a few stories going on in my head, my WIP folder, and already published I have to keep a notebook with the names I’ve already used. LOL
Especially since I have 2 Simons now in two different series. OOOPS!

Is music a factor for you while you are writing? Do certain songs put you in the right frame of mind to write certain stories?

Definitely. Both Cari and I can’t get to writing unless we have a playlist. I usually have a few different playlists for different moods in whatever book I’m writing. I’m all over Spotify. It’s the best invention evah!

What has been the defining moment in your career that made you think “Yes, I am now a writer!”?

It was a tiny, weird little thing that happened. My best friend since college is really good about pimping my books out to her friends. She’s rather adorable about it actually. And she mentioned my book to her neighbor and she’d already read it!

It’s a small thing, but what a small world. That this random stranger found my book out of all those books on Amazon and BN et al and bought it and actually talked to my friend about how much she loved it.

Really humbling and awesome.

If you weren’t a writer, what would you be doing?

Hopefully I’d be doing something with graphic design. I went to college for it and love messing around with it for marketing purposes for Cari and I.

Or maybe a TV critic. I’m a total nut for television.

What is the next book you'll write?

The NaNoWriMo thing in November is my next project. It’s about a couple that meet because they want the same renovated/repurposed firehouse in a little town in upstate NY. She wants to make it a home and he wants to glam it up and flip it for cash.

Its summer in my part of the world and that means summer blockbuster movies are coming out. Do you have a list of movies like me that you are itching to see or have seen? What about ones coming up? Any that draw your eye to it?

I’m a freak for movies. One of the things that Cari rolls her eyes at about me. LOL If there’s cars and explosions I can get Cari to go with me…Hello Fast and the Furious moovies!

But me? I like everything. Currently I’m dying for the next Thor movie. RAWR. Hellloooooo Chris. I love all those movies. Avengers, Captain America, and the other franchise---Batman and Wolverine and all that stuff. Love me some alpha damaged males. LOL

Thanks so much for having me Dawn. I really appreciate it!!

Cari and I are really looking forward to writing more rock stars for our readers.

Spicy Teaser:

Nick stabbed his fingers into the mile-high bun Jazz had fixed on top of her head, wrecking the orderly curls, tearing them down while his tongue plunged between her lips. She moaned, loud and sharp, not tempering the sound. And he feasted on it, on her, sucking on her tongue, nipping her lips, swallowing that same grape-sweet taste she’d tormented him with before.

“Want me to go down on you?” he whispered between kisses. It wasn’t an offer he made often, though he had a feeling she’d be the exception to all of his rules.

She shook her head, hard and definite. “No. Just fingers. Please. Like last time.”

They didn’t speak after that. Didn’t do a damn thing except kiss and touch and pant hotly into each other’s mouths. Just like last time, she stroked his cock like she was manipulating her drumsticks. Up, down, up, down, squeezing, letting go. Over and over until he shoved her back against the wall and pushed his hand under her skirt. All he could think about was getting inside her.

She wore panties tonight, tiny frilly ones, and he ripped them aside and surged his fingers deep. She threw her head back, banging her skull. He pulled out and rubbed her piercing, amazed all over again that such perfection existed in his world. The memory of those pink crystals around her taut little clit could take him straight to heaven. But he wouldn’t go alone.

He spent extra time toying with the studs, testing her reactions to each flick and flutter. Building the urgency between them until they both trembled like plucked strings. Then he was playing her flesh like she’d played him and all he could hear were her ragged gasps, each of them ending on a single plea.

More.

More.

God, give me more.

She came in a pulsing gush against his palm, and he groaned as he dropped his forehead into the crook of her neck. Her brown sugar scent and the smell of her arousal wrapped around him, constricting his lungs, blocking his airflow. Then she dropped to her knees again and pulled down his zipper, taking him out so fast he couldn’t do more than pant his gratitude. Her lips closed around the head of his dick and he fisted his hands against the wall, one of them still soaked from her, lost to the sensation of her wet silky mouth riding up and down his length.

It didn’t take long. She remembered what he liked, and he’d been primed for the past week. He hadn’t let himself come on his own, knowing he’d see her behind his eyes. She’d be the cause of his orgasm even if he was all alone. So he’d held back, held off, somehow knowing they’d end up in this place again. His own touch would never be a decent substitute when he could have her.

At least he had her right now.

Running Wolf Lighthorse works for the Circle G Ranch and was caught up in the shootout with the Russian Mob, helping to save his bosses’ woman, Lyndee Dwyer.  Severely injured, he ended up in Denver recuperating when he met one of Lyndee’s colleagues, Lawrence Whitaker.  Lawrence made no qualms about the fact he was gay when he seduced Wolf.  After the brush with death, Wolf delved into the experience and fell in love with the blond Adonis.

Returning home with Lawrence in tow, they have discussed needing a third to round out their rough edges.  They have also fallen in love with Angela Lawson, the sister of the local Sheriff, who upon their arrival, they find her in imminent danger as someone from her past has returned.

They have to find a way to convince Angela of their love for her which is proving hard because her past is like a bad penny, constantly turning up to haunt her.  Angela loves the two men, but she is afraid to commit because if they get hurt because of her, she would never be able to forgive herself.  She also feels that if they really get to know her, they won’t want her, forgetting Wolf knows about her past and the people she has hurt.

Can Running Wolf and Lawrence save their lady love and can Angela move past the demons that haunt her along with the one that wants her dead?  Follow their heated story to see if all three will get the happily ever after they want.

Adult Excerpt

Dipping two of his fingers into the stick of butter he held them up to show Angela as he stepped between her legs. A squeal escaped her lips as she tried to back up but her back came in contact with the backsplash. Wolf’s hand flashed out quickly and grabbed her left breast, wiping the yellow oily butter onto her before moving to her right breast and repeating the motion. She screamed reaching for the dishcloth resting between the double sinks. A large bronzed hand stopped hers.
Wolf’s left hand turned the knob on the stove, turning off the burner as his right hand caressed her slippery breast. He was staring into her green eyes which had turned a darker green from where Lawrence stood. Wolf leaned over and swiped this tongue across Angela’s turgid nipple. She gasped at the action, looking down adoringly at the man pleasuring her. His mouth captured the hard nub between his teeth and tugged on it, pulling it out from her breast.
The moan that emanated from her was a cock teaser and both occupants of the kitchen turned to see where the gasp had come from. Shock and guilt registered on both faces when they saw Lawrence standing there, neither moving. Wolf’s teeth remained on the nipple though his head was turned, causing more pleasurable pain for Angela, the moaning becoming more evident.

***
Lawrence had stood fascinated at the scene as it unfolded before him, wanting to see how his two lovers interacted with each other. He had to tell his dick to settle down, but it wasn’t listening. He wanted to join them and move this to the bedroom, but he also wanted to see them interact together without them knowing he was there just yet.
Finally, after being noticed, Lawrence moved into the room, slowly, as his dick was so swollen within his briefs. Stepping over to the two, he watched as Wolf released Angela’s nipple, he watched it retract to her breast, wet with their lover’s saliva. The two stared at him as he approached and he could see the apprehension in their eyes.
Stopping next to Wolf, Lawrence snaked his hand behind the man’s neck and pulled him to him. His lips slashed across Wolf’s oily lips, his tongue slipping out to taste his man with a slight hint of butter. His tongue urged the lips open and Lawrence thrust it into the cavern that was Wolf’s mouth. Their tongues dueled for a minute before Lawrence pulled back, his lips sipping several times at the full lips beneath his before releasing his hand from Wolf’s neck.
He turned to the woman sitting on the counter, spread out before the two. Lawrence whipped his other hand out and grabbed Angela’s chin, pulling her face down to his, his eyes daring her to pull away. She let him orchestrate the moment.
“Kiss me,” Lawrence commanded.
Angela leaned down, pressing her lips to his, tentatively. It was a light, brief touch of her lips on his but enough to cause his heart to slam against the wall of his chest. He wanted more. Slamming his mouth onto hers, his tongue demanded entrance. Her lips opened beneath his prying mouth letting his tongue slip through into her depths. He felt as if he was touching heaven as his tongue touched hers and then glided across the velvety surface. Sweeping it around, Lawrence caressed all the areas of her mouth, exploring all that belonged to him there.
He ravaged her mouth, enjoying his time there as he felt Wolf’s hand on his back, caressing it lovingly. It thrilled Lawrence that Wolf watched this interaction between them but he also sensed that the man wanted to join them. Reaching around with his free hand, he let it wander to his lover’s crotch and found what he wanted. The hard length beneath the denim excited him. Pulling his lips from Angela’s, Lawrence looked into her dark lust- filled eyes. Her tongue licked out to taste the lingering flavor of him but also out of nervousness.
Still staring into the green pools of her eyes, he bent down and captured her nipple in his mouth. He sucked the butter from the hard nub, twirling his tongue around it. When he felt hands upon his shoulders, he knew they were Wolf’s since Angela hadn’t moved. His suit coat was being removed as he continued to lave Angela’s breast. He could hear her breath hitching in her throat as he increased his suckling.
With his coat gone, he felt Wolf’s hard body press up against his as the hands moved around under his arms to cover his pecs. Lawrence groaned around the nipple in his mouth as fingers flicked at his own hardened nipples beneath the cotton fabric. Thrusting his hips back, he felt his man’s hard cock pressing against his ass. He groaned even more, knowing the sound reverberated through Angela’s breast as she thrust her chest further against his face.
Coming up for air, he leaned up and slashed his mouth against hers again as his hands came to rest on her hips. Pulling her closer to him, her pussy became flush with his abs. Through the fabric of his shirt and the denim of her jeans, he felt the heat from her core which heated him further. Sandwiched between both of his lovers, he felt as if he had come home completely for the first time in ages. His teeth nipped at Angela’s lips, plumping them with passion.
Wolf began to unbutton Lawrence’s shirt, pulling it out of his pants when he got to his waistband. When he was finished, he pulled the article from his partner’s muscular frame, tossing it aside. Fumbling with the belt Lawrence wore he finally unbuckled it and then undid the fastener of the fly before unzipping him. Wolf’s hand snaked down the waistband of his lover’s briefs and over the silky length of steel confined within the material.

Welcome author Jaime Rush and discover her new series/Giveaway

Welcome to the DRAGON RISING blog blitz! I’m so excited for the release of the second novella in my brand new paranormal romance series, out from Forever Romance.

The Hidden is a series about humans with the essence of sorcerer gods, dragon gods, or fallen angels who walk the knife's edge between Miami and a hidden world of magic, passion, and danger.

I thought it would be fun to kick off the series with two intertwining novellas that feature twins. Each novella tackles one aspect of the story’s mystery while bringing in and wrapping up a romance. It was a great introduction for me, because I learned about my world while writing these stories. My twins are Dragonshifters, and I threw both of them together with a lover of a different type just to make things interesting.

DRAGON MINE kicked off the series with Kirin’s story as he joins forces with the one woman he’s loved—and the one who hates him. And while he sorts through one aspect of the mystery, his sister Lira chases a completely different lead … to a cool, aloof descendent of fallen angels who wants nothing to do with a fiery, passionate Dragon. But Archer also has something at stake in solving the mystery of her missing father, and he must reluctantly join forces with the woman who threatens to shatter his composure, expose his secrets—and capture his heart.

If you haven’t been introduced to the Hidden yet, I hope you’ll sign up to win digital copies of DRAGON MINE and DRAGON RISING. And if you aren’t one of the lucky winners, don’t worry! Both e-novellas are available for the low price of $1.99 each and are perfect for devouring together. Then look for back-to-back releases of the full-length novels that further delve into the Hidden—the danger, the passion, and the magic! [Available in both mass market and digital]

Cheers!

Jaime Rush

DRAGON RISING, A Hidden Novella: Book Prequel #2 (9781455528004)

They are the Hidden.
Not quite human. Far from normal.
And never, ever safe . . .

After her father falls victim to a serial kidnapper, cunning Dragon shifter Lyra Slade is determined to rescue him. When she discovers a clue to his disappearance that leads her to a sexy but aloof stranger, she knows she shouldn't trust him to help her, but she's run out of options.

Archer Grant, a descendant of fallen angels, is reluctant to aid the beautiful dragon because her evidence implicates his own brother . . . But when his brother also goes missing, Archer must work with Lyra to uncover the truth. But even as a supernatural desire grows between angel and dragon, they are hunted by an evil force. Faced with the deadliest of dark magick, can even love save them?

Teaser Excerpt:
She and Archer skirted the dance floor, jam-packed with writhing, rubbing, sliding bodies. He tugged her toward a vacant spot at the bar, where undulating colors lit the thick glass. There were no available stools, just enough space for him to lean toward the female bartender and ask if she’d seen either Anika or Jeremy.
She stared at him and then shook her head. “Another Caido? Wow, this club’s getting interesting. I haven’t seen Jeremy in a few days, but Anika’s here somewhere.” She searched the crowd. “I don’t see her at the moment.”
He ordered an absinthe, then turned to Lyra. “Drink?”
Definitely not an absinthe. “Cranberry and Absolut, please, dash of Tabasco.” He raised his eyebrow at that. “Dragons have a thing for…hot and spicy.”
Did she see his mouth quirk? Probably not. Archer was anything but hot and spicy, though she wondered what was beneath the surface. She tried to pay, but he put money on the bar when the drinks arrived. He handed her the shorter glass and gripped his as he scanned the people sitting at the bar.
Lyra looked for Anika, too, but was drawn again to watch the dance floor. The sensuousness pulled at her, pulsing through her body with a song that was hard rock and electronica at once. “Firestarter,” the singer rapped, oddly appropriate to how she felt. She gulped half her drink and set it on the bar, her arm brushing Archer’s side.
She wanted to touch him. Knowing it was the Thrall didn’t quell her desire one bit. She didn’t even realize she’d begun to move to the beat until her butt brushed against him. The music was irresistible, too. She turned to him, nearly his height with her high heels, and moved close to his ear. Unfortunately, that action pressed her breasts against his chest.
“Now I know why you looked so pained about coming here. Is this what it’s like, women wanting to touch you all the time?”
He kept his gaze on the dance floor. “Everything about this is painful.”
“What is it that makes me—women—want to touch you? It’s beyond that you’re gorgeous. It’s a compulsion.”
He leaned closer, his breath warm against her ear. “It’s our energy, the essence we carry from our ancestors.”
His face was only inches from hers, the shimmer in his eyes pulling at her, making her eyes heavy. “Are you mesmerizing me on purpose?”
He didn’t look away. “No.”
“I won’t touch you. I’m stronger than your pull.”
His mouth turned up in a soft smile.

EXCERPT

“You're a very pretty girl.”

She shrugged. “Yeah? So?”

He adjusted his white hat, still meeting her eyes. “So you don't have to do that to get attention.”

Lindsey frowned, snapping her legs together and sitting straight up. “Do what?”

“You know what.”

“What are you all dressed up for—a parade or something?” Lindsey squinted at him and saw he was wearing a name tag: Lieutenant Zachary Davis.

“I'm a recruiter.”

“For what?” Lindsey snorted, looking him up and down. Even the man's shoes were white! “The Pillsbury Dough Boy?!”

He raised an eyebrow in her direction. “The U.S. Navy.”

“So you're... what... a sailor?”

“On a nuclear submarine, but yes.” He cocked his head at her. “Do you have any interest in the Navy?”

She rolled her eyes. “Only if we're at war.”

“We are.”

“Yeah, well... not here we're not.”

“So what are you interested in...Lindsey?”

He'd obviously been paying attention. She leaned forward, putting her elbows on her knees and her chin in her hands. “Sex... Zach.”

“Is that all?”

“No...” She glanced over at the secretary, who was rifling through papers at her desk, but clearly listening to them. “I also like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.”
