“Seasonal Greetings” by Jane Davitt

I was settling down to write a blog post to promote the O Come All Ye Kinky anthology when an early Christmas card arrived.

The card was nothing special: a cardinal perched on top of a snowman with a carrot for a nose, glitter sprinkled about. I opened it and a piece of folded paper fell out. Curious, since the card was blank inside, and the envelope showed only my address, I unfolded the paper and began to read.

Rosy cheeks, bright eyes, happy, excited squeaks and squeals…there are more rewarding ways to get them from your sub than a walk in the frosty air or the perfect gift under the tree.

Why not aim to make a different set of cheeks glowing like Rudolph's nose with the application of a flogger in a festive red, ornamented with some jingle bells for that playful touch? And you wouldn't be you if you didn't know a dozen ways to bring tears to his eyes.

If you're the hardy outdoors type, and I seem to recall that you are, there's nothing like taking your sub into the woods, putting him up against a tree, or bending him over a log, and baring some skin to the chilly air while you admire the view. Brr. It really is chilly out here. Looks like someone needs warming up…but there's no hot chocolate in sight, just a holly bush with some nicely prickly leaves…

And who needs chestnuts roasting by an open fire when you can use your sub as a footstool after that long walk in the woods (your sub properly leashed and waking to heel, of course) and position him so it's his nuts that are heating up nicely in the glow of those hot flames?

Oh dear, he's wriggling and whining about being too hot. You've got the perfect cure for that clinking around in your glass. Let's see how many ice cubes that sizzling, well-spanked ass can melt.

Still wriggling? Goodwill to all men only goes so far. The cage he'll spend the night in is right by your bed, though, and you've hung a piece of mistletoe over the door. When he crawls out in the morning, sniffling and repentant, you'll make sure he has something to kiss, won't you?

By the time I'd finished reading, I knew there'd been some mistake. Okay, I knew after the first line, but by then there was no turning back. This card wasn't meant for me. I studied the envelope. A snowflake had smudged the ink of the address and turned an eight into a six. That meant it should've gone to the house opposite me.

Oh.

Such a nice couple, new to the street, Stan so well-mannered, a grin quick to show on his handsome face, his partner Martin a little older, his face stern at times, but his smile always warm when he saw me, his gaze loving when he was looking at Stan.

And did they…Were they…

A blush heating my face, I tucked the card and the letter back in the envelope, guilt filling me as I saw how carelessly I'd ripped it open.

But something told me that when I handed it to them, even my most fervent apologies wouldn't get me the spanking I deserved.

Here’s the blurb for my story, “Tree Topper.”
Martin’s new to the scene, and his sub Stan has recently stopped taking him seriously. Their tree has floggers, clamps, and cuffs underneath it, but will they ever be used? Frustrated and confused, Martin knows it will take more than a star to guide him on his way to becoming the Dom Stan needs—but their path to happiness might be shorter than he thinks.

And here’s what you can expect to find in the anthology as a whole:
Christmas is a time of love and joy, and the New Year is a time of renewal. But they are also times of stress and strife, family drama, pressure and heartache—a potent mix of high expectations and conflicted emotions. Add in power exchange relationships, kinky gift swaps, and unconventional love in a sometimes unforgiving world, and you have a formula for a sizzling anthology of stories that tug at your heart.

From Ava March’s forbidden Regency love between men, to Katie Porter’s scorching hot contemporary tale of two women discovering holiday happiness, everyone will find a favorite here. Pervertible toys abound: Lambda Literary Award finalist L.A. Witt’s candy cane, Jane Davitt’s wrapping paper and tape, and Alexa Snow’s Christmas candles all please and delight. Newcomer Elyan Smith and fan favorite Kim Dare both celebrate New Year’s Eve with romantic flair and kinky fireworks, while bestselling author Joey W. Hill’s poignant story of discovery and commitment will lead you home.
Whatever your desires, we invite you to explore new fantasies and old with these eight kinky tales of holiday happy endings.

20% of all proceeds from O Come All Ye Kinky will be donated to the Domestic Violence Project of the National Leather Association–International. (If you buy the book, digital or print, from Riptide’s website, more money goes to the charity because we’re not paying third-party vendor fees.)

You can find out more about the anthology and all the stories here.

About Jane Davitt:
Jane Davitt is English, and has been living in Canada with her husband, two children, and two cats, since 1997. Writing and reading are her main occupations but if she ever had any spare time she might spend it gardening, walking, or doing cross stitch. She's recently taken up yoga and loves discovering her ability to bend.

Jane has been writing since 2002 and wishes she'd started earlier. She is a huge fan of SF, fantasy, erotica, and mystery novels and has a tendency to get addicted to TV shows that get cancelled all too soon. She owns over 4,000 books, rarely gives any away, but is happy to loan them, and is of the firm opinion that there is no such thing as “too many books.” You can find Jane at her Website, at Goodreads, and on Twitter.

Love all the holiday themed suggestions filling the neighbor's head with more than sugarplums. How great that part of the profits are going to a good cause!
